November 18, 20168 yr comment_235704 I remember reading Bryant extended last offseason through 2017; http://www.bluebombers.com/2015/12/26/bombers-extend-stanley-bryant/ weird they would rework his contract soon after - during the season, that eliminated the 2017 part
November 18, 20168 yr comment_235705 It's not weird, it helped both sides. It helped the team avoid cap penalties this year & it helps him get paid more next year.
November 18, 20168 yr comment_235710 my thinking its weird is from going from a 2 year contract to a one year. I get why it was done and the end game, but I sure hope his resigning is a done deal. High risk High reward, cuz you know a team like the riders would be in the market for his services and offer a pretty penny
November 18, 20168 yr comment_235714 I'd say it's some risk/some reward. Other teams were in the market for his services last year too & we still landed him. If the Bombers weren't very confident they'd be able to re-sign these guys, I doubt they would have made those moves.
November 18, 20168 yr comment_235740 There's a fair amount of dead weight to make room for the guys they want to keep. Gotta believe they can replace Neufeld, Shologan, Kohlert, Wild, Hurl, Johnson at least with younger and cheaper or convince them to come back on more reasonable deals. I don't quite understand the Bryant and Medlock deals...they gave money back without having a mechanism to get it later through a deferral?
November 18, 20168 yr comment_235746 That sort of sucks about Medlock and Bryant. Hope we get it done. So does this mean Walters is going chopping soon?

Sounds like there are 22 FAs not counting Keeping. About half the roster.

They might want to ask Dressler about accepting deferred salary before they proceed. Riders screwed him royally.

Haven't heard anything about that. Maybe a roster bonus. Deferred money has to be paid regardless of whether the player is on the roster or not.
