Walter's Priorities Part 2
Careful what you wish for, Bass may not return and the next best candidate is Kyle "MR. ST" Knox. I think expectations on the MLB position are a tad unrealistic in these parts. Like Wild, Bass plays the game at a very high level and can not be accused of being a non-factor in any game the Bombers played this past season, he was literally all over the field. He contributed a decent number of sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles and was 8th in the league in tackles as well as being a solid contributor on ST's. Does he occasionally get steam-rolled in a "Hurlish" fashion? Yes, as would any 220 lber trying to fight off a 300 lb. lineman intent on blotting out the sun. Imo Bass does exceptionally well in the role he is given within Hall's D, which is a jack-of-all-trades, they may be able to find a better MLB in time, but I wouldn't bet money on it happening quickly.

Bored......
He's already been punted once, but being a wily Riderfan he's managed to rearrange the spelling of his name around "klutz" to cleverly fool our administrators.

The most you can realistically hope for from a backup QB is to maintain 500. If he plays behind a good O-line, within a good offensive scheme and has great offensive weapons at his disposal this becomes a whole lot more viable. If BLM played for the Bombers in 2013 he would have been packed on the next bus out of town following Max Hall, never to be heard from again.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Looking forward to the day the Bombers show enough confidence in their own scouting, recruitment and development to run with their own horses. I'm fine with Davis at number two, McLeod Bethel-Thompson at number three or even picking Bryan Bennett back up on the rebound after Jones slips him the shiv during TC. The Stamps didn't get where they are today by relying on F.A. and table scraps left behind by other teams. For the most part they've recruited and developed their personnel from within and have been remarkably successful for over a decade. Hopefully the Bombers can someday follow this model and attain the same consistency as the Stamps.

Crompton has been out for so long it's hard to believe he's still a viable option, he hasn't played in a game since early in 2015. Samson could have told him "Dude, don't let them cut your hair, it really sucks."

Better get the coaching staff solidified next, if Richie Hall is coming back, get it done, if not find his replacement pronto. Fill in any holes left by departing coaches and then get to work on upgrading player talent before F.A. opens.

If Huff is shopping Tate, he's not going to have this option for long. Dollars to donuts Huff. has most likely found his next young QB prospect and no longer needs Tate.

Difference with the situation in Regina is there is no nastiness between Walters and Nichols, they are co-dependents and will come to an agreement sooner or later.

I was going to say I hope Paul Charbonneau his assistant doesn't follow Wylie but I see that he already left to be the Als RB coach last season. From the Bombers website I see they are left with Marty Costello who was the assistant OL coach last year. Hopefully he is ready to step up to the top job or they can steal away an experienced OL coach from another CFL team. "Paging Pat Delmonaco, please come home. All is forgiven, as the previous troubles probably weren't entirely your fault. BTW we got rid of the sausage and now have real beef."

I think Cato is a F.A. anyway, he could still land in Regina.

Durant made concessions to sign with Jones last year, I'm sure he wasn't too happy to find out he would have to agree to further concessions to continue his career as a Rider this year. Good luck to the Riders trying to attract vet. CFL F.A.'s in the future, they may not be interested.

Doubt Durant is going to Mtl. to mentor anyone, expect he will play every snap as long as he remains healthy. Cato may end up in Sask. eventually.

Nichols won't sign with the Riders as long as he has a functioning brain in his head and a veto.

I think so too, he was convinced that he made it but the refs. disagreed.

If that's the case they should have a contract offer in a drawer waiting for his return. If he can beat their numbers he signs elsewhere, if not, welcome back.

I'd bet when Glenn came to Wpg. last year he did not expect to account almost zero playing time with the team seeing as how he's picked up game reps. as back-up in every other recent stop, Cgy, BC, Sask, Mtl. He's probably still riding the low base pay contract with incentives acquired for games played and came to realize as long as Nichols remains healthy his chances of ever touching the field under O'Shea are virtually zero. Bombers were probably happy to continue this arrangement but Glenn, maybe not.

Wow, that's huge. Lion's D will be much less effective without Bighill.

If the team truly believes in Davis they should have no reservations parting ways with their tattered old security blanket, otherwise their gums are just flappin.
