Draft Day Thread - - It's here, its now
Tait says we get a good receiver at 11 Durant Demski or Richards .... doing lineman with first pick. Picking local boy enriches the franchise brand. Bombers don't do it enough. Could package up their number 11 with a NI veteran. Maybe they pick another O-lineman or a backup LB with their #15

WE ALL LOVE TRADES BUT there is no way we trade our #2 which is really the number #1 with Ottawa's specialty pick of Mateas. The chance of that happening is the square root of zero. If you want to dream think about our 2nd or 3rd picks. Great way to encourage the discussion you were looking for. Yelling at people. Lol off to the chat I go! Caps are emphatic, not yelling. Thanks for the compliment Mike.

Draft Day Thread - - It's here, its now
While I am glad we have gone from 50 to 250 seats in the chat room, it's not my style, I don't care for it. I would much rather have the full discussion format we have in our usual topics. I like being able to respond specifically to a poster and her/his specific point of view. Chronological ordering by speed of typing is fast but I find it chaotic. There is other things too and I don't want to debate what may be better. I am just saying I have a preference. So here is the topic thread for the big day that we have been anticipating for months. Let me start by saying I don't think Walters is going to make a trade for his number 2 overall pick. There is just too little difference between the top linemen. AND the pricetag would be just too high. A team like Hamilton trading up for a lineman would mean the Blue wouldn't get a difference-maker. They would need too much back to compensate. The wisdom of Walters is now on display.

Braintrust: CFL Board of Governors
When does the BoG meet next? I am curious about the rule changes ratification... What kind of a job do you think they have done in last 2-3 years? What needs to improve? Will they be running the show or will it be the commish?

CFL 2015 League Standings Predictions
Lulay will be a factor but not the biggest one by any means (same in Toronto with Ray) BC has problems, maybe big ones Kevin Glenn could have taken a real team somewhere

Bombers sign one more from mini camp - INT OL Corey Lewis
Whats the deal with all these international OLinemen? It seems disproportionately over emphasized to me, especially with room for just 75 in camp...

Bombers release 2 vets
If we look at history, this only seems to happen inJuly due to an injury plague ...once management makes up its mind it takes a lot to reverse such thinking \

Bombers release 2 vets
Releasing Vega I understand ... we must like who we signed so far Morley: it would not surprise if Morley pushed the issue a bit: "Am I in your plans? ... Oh, OK ... how about releasing me then so I can catch on with another team?" After being offered around for a late round draft pick, and no bites by trade/waiver ... now he is on the open market for a lot less money Agent will be chatting with Ottawa, BC, Edmonton and who knows who else Any doubt that this roughly how it went down? Can you say "$90,000 1 year contract"?

Whats left on the shopping list
The O-line has been rebuilt Running back looks ok ... so do the defensive backs Not sure about receivers & line backers ... seems to be lots of bodies coming in The D-line needs some shoring up & we have some candidates there and here Most of don't have a clue if we have a golden goose or two in all the new signings So what concerns you as we head into camp shortly? O-Line aside, what is the one single BIG area we absolutely have to fix before opening day?

New guys - High hopes? Low hopes?
Maybe I've missed something but I don't see any top credentialed international middle linebackers signed for that critical position; I did see a couple of fellows signed to play that position but it was not impressed with what I read. As far as I'm concerned the most important position to recruit for is that middle linebacker spot; we need a leader and star calling the shots from there. Could it be that we are planning to use our top draft pick to pick a middle linebacker?

CFL proposed rule changes for 2015
Amazing the number of times the word STUPID is used ... total unreasoned emotion .... no logic ... no examination ... no justification ... "fraidy-cat of change" thinking .... the convert changes add real excitement and an outcome difference maker .... adding more pass completion to 2 down football means more drives and scoring ... who wants two bucks and a kick type offence, yawn? .... kick returns even off converts for more big plays .... less driving through the 5 yard zone .... I love CFL over NFL because of the higher levels of excitement To those who cry STUPID I can only say KILLJOY in its most literal sense Stupid is the right word in this case. I'm not afraid of change. I just don't like change for change sake and that's what most of these rule changes are about. No form of football that I've ever seen have any of the PAT rules for good reason. They don't make any sense. The current rules allow for 1 and 2 point conversions. If you can't score from the 5, then you should go for 1 point. Most of the PAT's will still go through the uprights from the 32. Those that don't will almost certainly go through the end zone without any chance for a run back. The extra chance to score would be from a block or partial block, which is an extremely low chance or a huge wind in which case, you'd take it on the 3 and try for 2 which won't result in a run back anyway. The 'Down lineman can't leave until the punt happens' rule will create more flags which is bad by definition. It will reduce the number of down field players by 5 big guys, which will mean that the the Special Teams coaches will have to change the way they cover punts. I expect it will produce additional big run backs in the short term, but I think it will be short lived as the coaches figure it out. The PI changes will create more flags and is closer to 'flag' football rules than 'real' football rules. A rule change that's black and white would be a step forward, but this one isn't that. The refs still have to figure out who initiated the contact and if it affected the play before they throw the flag. More flags with more interpretation by the Refs, who've already proved over and over that they cant handle interpretation is a bad thing for the CFL. Offensive PI being subject to video review is the right thing to do if you have to have video reviews of calls/non calls, but the CFL refs have proven time and time again that they can't get video replays right so the better route is to just get rid of coach initiated video review completely. BigBlue... You seem to be the only one who likes these changes. Exactly. You cannot call them 'fun changes for the benefit of fan experience" when all of the fans think the changes are ridiculous. How can you possibly know what "ALL THE FANS THINK" ? The posters on this site are a very poor representation of all the fans that attend games or watch on TV! I believe the average fan would love the rule that you can tie the game with a 3 point convert late in the 4th quarter .... they will love these rules when their team is down by 15 early in the 4th quarter they will love the rules that mean more pass receptions they will love the rules that bring about more long punt returns increasing scoring is NOT change for change sake What is bad is sticking to the traditions that do nothing to increase excitement .... thats as boring as the baseball fans that are totally fixated on statistics so they can compare the present to the past .... yuck!
