Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
Iso, you know football better than me -- say Drew Willy thought that MB was an idiot and his offence was dogshit, do you think he'd really be super frank about expressing that opinion? Or maybe he just doesn't want to "WILLY PUBLICLY QUESTIONS COACH" over a Friesen byline? Behind the scenes I'm guessing he would if that's how he felt.

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
Great point. Maybe we hire an assistant OC (I know, maybe not realistic) who has high levels of emotional intelligence to handle the internal 'offense player issues'. Just let Cortez focus on customizing x's and o's match our current talent and let the assistant translate it to the players. Everyone brings a different but needed skill set to the table.

Game 26 : Leafs @ Jets
I'm with you, what a nice feeling it would be to hear 'Jets win another', 'Bombers look great for upcoming 2016 season' while I open my Visa bill showing a lot of Jet and Bomber purchases I made in the month of December. Most of them 'to me from me' type presents. :-)

I'm with you. I say we light up this goaltender tonight. Lowry scores two to get his confidence back.

Around The League Off Season Discussion
I'm nuetral on Cortez but that's a bit harsh. What's missing from his approach that reflects today's game? Being grumpy and over the hill as someone else remarked isn't really a reason. Most coaches are grumpy all the time. Age is not a factor imo.

Wonder if Montreal may sniff around because of any possible paranoia that may be present with Price's health . . .

Game 21 : Jets v1 @ Jets v2
Ehlers tries too hard to draw penalties. I also think the physicality of the game at this level is catching up to him. When the Jets play a big strong mean game Ehlers pays for it as they go for him. He's got to play fearless and get back to his game. Also, Thorburn and Peluso need to say uh no, he's not your punching bag opposition.

Game 19 : Jets @ Blues
When thew Jets first came back to our fine city, I wasn't a huge fan of Little. I'm a huge fan now, one could almost say underrated, or at least not talked about enough.

You can admit to being wrong you know....especially when it is proven with your own words.Give me a list of those teams and we will see the difference between the jets and them. Jets are a bubble team playoff pretender. They have made it once for God's sake and were swept. I'll admit I'm wrong when you make a trade proposal that makes sense Exactly, which means tinker not rebuild. And I wouldn't call them playoff pretenders. Yes swept but they held their own for the most part. They're actually built (mostly), big, physical for a tough playoff run.

Game 20 : Canucks @ Jets
Out of curiousity, has Maurice and/or Stafford alludeed to this new role in any press/media interviews/clips? Thought Maurice did in the last couple weeks. Thanks, I'd like to hear how he explains it. Because I'm still not sure (not being an NHL coach that I am) of why we would change his when the original one he played when he came over here did us pretty good. How bout this article? http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/10/26/too-close-for-comfort-for-jets Ken Wiebe - Clearly, Stafford's production hasn't dropped off, despite being used in more of a defensive role. Ladd - He's probably in a different role than he has been before, but to his credit, he's embraced it. Maurice - He's found what will make a player very, valuable. A guy who has the ability to put pucks in the net, but to play in that shutdown role and still produce. Hmmm all right then. Interesting. Thanks.

For me no issues with Trouba, love him, just more of 'got to give something to get something' type thing that's all. Unless of course you can hoodwink Garth Snow, go for it.

All Star Game
So, they're chosen as all stars, and can't find the oomph to try and win the game for the charity of their choice, in what will be a fun game of 3 on 3? Was there money involved in the all-star games before? Other than to their pensions? Money shouldn't be the incentive. But that's just me. No money wasn't involved before. Not even to their pensions. No one gets paid for it, it is something they have to do per their contracts. I'm pretty sure they get a bunch of "gifts" and shwag throughout the weekend, but I don't believe there was any money prior to this year. Have you watched an all star game recently? You can talk about what they "should" do but they don't. It is boring hockey because it is a meaningless game and no one wants to get hurt in a meaningless game. And even with money on the line, it probably will still not change anything. But you asked why not give the money to charity, and the rational for the money was to put something on the line for the players so they "try". Truth be told I wouldn't care if they cancelled the all star game all together. Probably won't watch it regardless, How about instead of money, the losing players have to waive their no-trade clauses? Or the winning players get to add to the losing players lists of where they would agree to play if traded? I'm thinking I'd see a lot of hustle out there :-)

Ladd, Myers for a 2nd, Hamonic and Barzal. I know you have to give up something to get something but a big no to letting Meyers go for what the Islanders offer here. I think your underestimating Meyers. I don't believe he's reached his full potential yet.

Yes I was thinking the Oilers are in a better position than we are for this trade. Maybe even the Flames and Nucks are in a better position. Maybe the Oilers offer up Nail Yakapov and Justin Shulz, two players that may benefit with a change in scenery.

Just to use your Cheshire Cat's train of thought, I believe, with patience and appropriate tinkering, the Jets can and will trend upwards if we stay the course. That's how I hope my reality plays out.

Just under 20 games into the season where we made the playoffs last year in a tough division and the suggestion is for a rebuild? Wow. Yes we can sometimes overestimate the talent of our current core foundation but we can also make the mistakes of underestimating it and/or misdiagnosing our current issues that plague this team.

No, he wants to show confidence in Hutch after pulling him last game. Imo, good coaches do that.

My position has always been with Buff is he's such a unique player that his skill set, his physicaility in a league of bigger players, the tone he sets on and off the ice will be very challenging to replace/match and if we don't sign him over the next 2-4 years I truly believe we will look back in that timeframe and say we wish we had him back. Unlike some here, as a keen observor I have not seen him regress and believe he still has some great years ahead of him. His pros outweigh his cons, that's how I look at it, not really a 'I'm right your wrong' approach to whether we retain him, more he's a package I strongly prefer as a Jet fan to have on my team, not on someone else's over the next few years if possible. That's my bias, my preference.

If you're making this statement specifically in reference to Frolik, I agree with you somewhat in that I don't know how much of a significant difference maker he would be making for us right now.. But if you are generalizing as a whole suggesting one person/position other than goaltending doesn't make a difference than I don't agree. I'll take my man Buff as an example. It seems he individually makes a significant impact on both ends of the spectrum. When he's off, he's off and the team suffers as a result. When he's on, he's on and the team benefits. With Buff, it seems there is no middle ground. Sort of fits that you live and die by the sword or whatever that saying is.

What disease do Winnipeg Sports teams have?
My educated guess, if you polled all NHL team GM's and scouting teams, is the majority would disagree with this statement. But I guess we'll never know.

Game 18 : Jets @ Preds
Or the Jets, like all teams throughout different points of the year, are going through some adversity right here right now. Not all adversity calls for major change declaring our core is rotten. We made the playoffs last year which would suggest building on what we have rather than dismantling and changing our identity. Patience. Yes if this continues to slide, change will be inevitable but there is merit in our coach having confidence in his existing players and believing they will correct this and finish strong to compensate for this stretch of losses we're incurring right now. Not to mention the fact that we are trying to create an environment to attract players here. There are some that believe creating an environment where there's major shakeup every time a losing streak happens is not the greatest lure for some. Yes to clear accountability no to paranoia and fear. Just my 19 cents.
