I'm pretty sure that Willy did not come forward and ask to restructure his contract, but reality has to intrude somewhere. Either he signs the new deal or he rolls the dice that someone else will pick him up for a fat contract, and Willy's resume does not inspire confidence.

Depending on his ego strength, having to come off the bench in a do-or-die situation could be the worst thing to happen to him. I used to golf with a guy who was way better than me, but as soon as money was on the game, he folded like a cheap tent. Some people just overthink and screw themselves up.

FYI: According to Farhan Lalji, Burris has played the last couple of games with an owie on the pinkie finger of his throwing hand. That might explain some of his wobbly passes of late.

Foketi was thrown into deep water- his first CFL game with the extra player and all that motion plus being out of his natural position. They may want to give him another chance to get live-fire experience.

The way it looks now is that Nichols has progressed and Willy has regressed. It may also be that Nichols is a better fit for LaPolice's offence.

If Willy wants to prolong his career, he should take a pay cut, sign an incentive-loaded new contract and then work like a dog to show to the coaches that he still has what they thought they saw in him. He has to know that there is no long-term future for an overpaid back-up.

I believe it is a valid speculation. The team has been completely different under Nichols and Willy's absence as a starter is the only conclusion.

People have not "turned" on Willy, but have given up on his being an elite CFL quarterback in line with his paycheque. And, incidentally, so have his teammates apparently. Any quarterback who has the same record on any team in the CFL would be in the same position. We all would have been ecstatic to have Willy perform at the same level as Collaros or Harris or heck, even Jennings. But he didn't and there are consequences to actions or lack thereof.

Neufeld has a lot more value, to the Bombers than Willy at this point, so if it comes to a cap crunch, Willy and his bloated salary have to go.

Awww. The poor widdle Widers are all sad and lonely. Makes me want to cry- no, wait a minute. I don't. Feeling like I should giggle at this stupidity, and there is no rehab for stoopid.

I hope the Bombers are not taking Montreal lightly. Ottawa has a good defence and even though the Larks were short in their receiving corps, Glenn lit Ottawa's defence up pretty good.

A very good analysis, thanks to MOAB. Sounds like he has all the tools to be a Ty Jones rush-backer type player. He sounds smart and young enough to adapt to the CFL game and excel at it. I'm looking forward to seeing the impact he makes. The Bomber scouting looks to be paying off big time.
