It's time for them to get involved in politics, counter the oil company handouts. parts of the coastal areas in the usa are already uninsurable, and are covered by government funded insurance. a lot of those commies down in Florida rely on it.

good summary of things https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/October-2018-Earths-2nd-Warmest-October-Record?cm_ven=cat6-widget October 2018 was the planet's second-warmest October since record keeping began in 1880, said NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) on Tuesday. The only warmer October came in 2015. NASA also rated October 2018 as the second-warmest October on record behind 2015. Minor differences in rankings between NASA and NOAA can arise because of how they handle data-sparse regions such as the Arctic, where few surface weather stations exist. Global ocean temperatures during October 2018 were the second warmest on record, and land temperatures were also the second warmest on record, according to NOAA. it is increasingly likely that the five warmest years on record globally will be 2014 through 2018. If an El Niño event develops this winter, as predicted, 2019 will have a very good chance of giving us six straight years that are each among the top six warmest years on record, barring a massive climate-cooling volcanic eruption in the tropics. Signs of hope, there seem to finally be some people elected in the States who are not going to shrug this off in exchange for oil money.

and thrashed the Bombers this season. I remember when mbb posters told us DesJardins was a terrible gm. don't hear that much anymore. I suppose some fans think it would be better to have a crap, losing team in Ottawa so the CFL could have another failing team.

Attention Lapolice! Please Stop Calling Predictable Plays
seems odd to get rid of the guy running the highest scoring offence, using a fairly average qb, and (so I'm told) substandard receivers. Nichols was not exactly standing in the pocket waiting for players to get open. Maybe that's why there was nobody there for him to throw to. Is it possible something with his preseason injury affected his confidence, or willingness to take a hit? Specially after his injury when at Edmonton hampered his career.

People should have a look at the seth abramson thread on trump saudi arabia. T Westwood has it.

Streveler as our starter in 2019
Don't think Nichols, at his age, is going to learn anything new, or change what he does. What we've seen, is what we'll get.

Renewable energy jobs is one of the fastest growing sectors in the US. But don't let that get in the way of a good campaign contribution. ( Rubio... it’s too expensive to do anything about it.) anyway. somewhat hopeful article about the chances of averting the worst of a warming planet. https://e360.yale.edu/features/the-essential-front-in-the-climate-battle-altering-public-attitudes "Major shifts in attitude and behavior have occurred time and again in the social and economic spheres. Think, for example, of the transformation that occurred with respect to cigarettes, as near-universal social acceptance gave way to smokers being relegated to sidewalks or cordoned-off smoking rooms. Consider the rapid shift in thinking we have seen on same-sex marriage or about what is happening right now in regard to sexual harassment and the #Me Too movement. These are different kinds of issues, to be sure, and decarbonizing the global economy is clearly a challenge on a vastly larger scale. Still, all these issues come down to human attitudes. And when norms change, they can change decisively and drive political action with them. Recall that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both opposed same-sex marriage in their 2008 primary battle. A few years later, that would have been unthinkable, because attitudes and expectations had changed." Read another article about this, that something seems unlikely to happen/change, then suddenly, it's done.

David Suzuki
I will post climate change info at that thread.

David Suzuki
So....if I understand correctly. 1.David Suzuki says that science has shown that mankind is raising the temperature of the planet. 2. But. David Suzuki lives in three houses, and flies in planes. 3. Therefore. Mankind is not raising the temperature. good stuff.

I don't mind Nichols saying he played well. But Earlier game this season, he said, receivers weren't getting open. Think it was after playing Calgary. I also get tired of our side telling us how fantastic Calgary is.

Space is the Place
"The Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) is a high contrast imaging instrument that was built for the Gemini South Telescope in Chile. The instrument achieves high contrast at small angular separations, allowing for the direct imaging and integral field spectroscopy of extrasolar planets around nearby stars. The Gemini Planet Imager is being used at the Gemini South Telescope, located in Cerro Pachon, Chile. It saw the first light in November 2013, and entered regular operations in November 2014.[2] It is designed to directly detect young gas giants via their thermal emission. The planet 51 Eridani b is the first exoplanet discovered by the Gemini Planet Imager. It is a million times fainter than its parent star and shows the strongest methanesignature ever detected on an alien planet, which should yield additional clues as to how the planet formed." These people are doing astonishing work.
