Winnipeg, Urban Decay, and Other Cities
Am I spending my tourist dollars to head to Winnipeg? Not a chance. I can list a hundred cities I would say that about too. Winnipeg is what it is and has a ton of problems. So do most cities.

Downtown (insert name of any big city) has major problems that need to be fixed. Just the reality around North America really.

No one was accusing you of being controversial. Hypocritical maybe...but not controversial. You stated your feelings on visiting Winnipeg, I stated mine on visiting Toronto. I accept your viewpoint, you are suggesting mine and others are bit far afield...whatever that means.

Yes, a cigarette habit downtown can get very expensive if you are a kind soul. Same to you, but that's been my experience. Sorry if that hurts your feelers. I don't see what you see in Winnipeg, but that doesn't mean you are wrong. When we live in a place we tend to give it the benefit of the doubt and grow accustomed to and then overlook the warts. You are doing the same with Toronto. I saw the same social issues in Toronto every time I went. Weirdos and homeless all over the place, garbage and litter everywhere, and a general feeling of unease and being unsafe after dark. Could I have avoided this...probably...but you could do the same in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg, Urban Decay, and Other Cities
having visited Toronto over the last several decades (80s,90, 00s,10s,20s) it is shocking to me how badly things have fallen off. I can only even put it in the nice place to visit category if you plot out exactly where to stay, where to visit and especially what areas to avoid. Sounds familiar Bluto? It should but my post too is reality.

Thanks. I am not phone savvy enuff to do it. Lawler will need an 18 game season to cash in again.

Don't know that he would have done a ton more but he likely would have had a longer career I think.

Yes, said he'd be back.

Barker had some really interesting comments on that show. Alluded to teams using "promo" money to circumvent the cap. Not sure how or what this means? Stated that he thinks Strev is a big upgrade over Brown. Stated he thought Yoshi wasn't all that great last year and not as big a loss to the Bombers as what many think. Just some real gold in that interview from a guy who knows this league inside and out. It's on YouTube if you Google rod pederson Jim Barker. If people have 20 mins I recommend it.

Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
2 days ago Jim Barker stated on the Rod Pederson show that the Bombers were this year's big winner in FA. I actually really value Barkers opinion, guy knows his stuff.

Behind every man's tragic tale there is usually a woman standing. Just bugging my wife as she stands here reading me type my post. If I go missing from the forum call the cops.

2007 That's too bad about Blink. Hope he straightened stuff out.

That would be a best case scenario, but a reset is needed. Happening already really. Schoen at 240 and White still out there would be my indications of that...and BC signing their big 2 for around Schoen money while letting Rhymes walk. Supply and demand. If a few young guys come in around the league and show lots of upside, it should take the market down a peg.

We should be in the process of trying to find our next Lawler/Schoen so that letting one walk in the offseason won't be as painful. Weineke isn't that guy.

I can think of 10 guys I would rather have than Emilus. That takes him out of the top tier imo. I don't see a team where he is clear cut number 1..well at least last year. This year who knows? IMO, Top tier is your top 5-8 in your position group to be considered top tier. I don't have Emilus there.
-
Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
Emilus is good, not suggesting otherwise, is he a consistent 1000 yard guy..I'm not sure. Is he better than Demski? Maybe..although Demski is far more dangerous imo. However, Nic is our number 3 by a pretty large margin and Sam is their 1 or 1b. I'm not trying to suggest the Riders receivers are crap, they are not. They just aren't near the top of the league receiving corps. They don't have that guy like Schoen/Lawler/Mack etc that can take over games.

Not saying sucked, just stats are misleading. None of them were particularly great when the game was being contested and they were facing real coverage. That's not to say they sucked either, just that their yardage totals are a bit misleading. Yea, Bane is about the only above average receiver they have.
-
Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
Their record last year speaks for itself as to what kind of impact they had. Garbage time yardage for the most part. Their production will drop if the Riders are more competitive this year.
-
Free Agency Day - Non-Bombers CFL News
Yea but there was an interesting stat about Bane, that probably applies to the other receivers as well, that almost 70% of his yardage came in what is generally regarded as garbage time in a losing effort. Sometimes stats can be misleading. I'd like to see the overall passing yardage by Q for the Riders last year. Bad teams tend to have a higher than normal passing yardage in 4Q as teams go prevent to seal off wins. Any time you see 3 receivers near 1000 on a 6 win team a deeper dive into that stat is required imo.

I'm not sure why we are even talking about the Rider offence? Their defence was a disaster last year and I don't see any significant moves there at all. But..but..but Thurman some will say. Sorry...just a younger Larry Dean. Lateral move at best. They have little talent on D and unless their recruitment knocks it out of the park they are going to be near the bottom of the CFL on D.

The guy was the best ranked OL on the Riders by PFF last year playing LT. Playing beside an actually physically capable OG he might get the job done. He's no Yoshi, but then again Yoshi is unlikely to be Yoshi again.

Lol..well it's football talk so it's still better than listening to my wife rehash her day. Lol Riders O should be better but their league worst defence? Not seeing much there.

We need to add a different dynamic just to keep the opposing DCs on their toes. So yea..looking forward to that maybe.

Free Agency Day - Bombers Moves
It's a safety net move. Therefore, yea....pretty meh. However, I don't mind him coming in and competing.
