Really like this one^. Hard to imagine anyone being as explosive as Grant, but this guy is a legit offensive player and has some chops on returns. Could be the overall player they wanted Grant to be. Wisconsin used him lots as a gadget guy, wildcat QB and Rutgers used him as a legit receiver with some of the Jet stuff too.

Both are rush ends. Kongbo has a bit more range to play the field side if needed sometimes.

But then on O or D he only played in one spot...that he was converted to and had never played before he got here....didn't even play there in training camp or pre-season. They liked him on special teams but his athletic limitations meant he only had utility in pretty limited spots on cover team and all return teams. Where do you put a 6'2 295 guy on special teams? Basically the only spot Thomas might get in is on FG team and even then that's risky. I think they'll bring back at least one of Briggs or Gauthier. Those guys are trying the market to see if they might slot more into someone's D than they would here.

Carey's never really been a full time player either nor a threat in the pass game at all for anyone but his QB. And he's 32. So in avoiding paying the guy that is we might end up paying the same amount to use an extra roster spot for a couple guys, probably 1 vet and 1 rookie deal guy, to do the job plus Augustine. I think it circles back to Oliviera.

Ouellette is a black hole in the passing game though. He was subbed out a ton. He's not a guy that can be the every down only back on a team. I have no interest in him much past average salary range plus some incentives for production and awards etc. We're a markedly worse team with Ouellette. I'd rather spend that money on receivers and try out some other options at running back. I think Ouellette is actually going to take a harder fall on his contract expectations than Oliviera. Oliviera could get 200 including some incentives.

It would be cool to line up the depth chart for a week in May, set up a ring at midfield and everyone fight to see who survives in helmets and shorts. But everyone knows that isn't how it works. There's a handful of rookies/discards fighting for how ever many spots are left, coaches monitoring their habits, fit into team and pretty much everything else is locked in. This isn't only in this sport or this level. Everyone is preparing to play games. Not replacing half their roster the week before the season. Opportunity knocks when it does. Guys get chances to play due to injury or poor performance, work onto roster, work into roles. The major roster movement happens this time of year. If it's happening in May to November the team is probably ****** from the jump.

Ottawa likes to take risks on guys who can't stay healthy.

Yeah just the year he got voted for the award finally since Bryant wasn't great either. So many plays Hardrick stands up/gets stood straight up and doesn't move his feet. You'd get some sexy looks where he wraps around someone on a run play. Kind of surprised we didn't hear about him getting any surgeries. Wouldn't bet on his knees and hips right now going into mid 30s. If Ottawa wants to pay him 200,000, good for him.

I clearly don't. Sarcasm toward the people who do. Kolankowski isn't signing here for that number (keeping in mind some of the numbers we have/will have at playmaker spots) to be the 6th guy. The centre job isn't up for grabs right now IMO. There's not going to be a competition in a camp where there's low compete anyway these days among vets. The spots that might be up for grabs are LG and RT. Probably one of Eli/Dobson get into start in one of those spots, Dobson's shot might be LG if Gray isn't back, Eli's shot is both. Other guy is 6th OL. I'm guessing there will be Americans in the mix for at least RT, maybe both depending on the backfield situation.

In this situation Eli was here first. So I'm not sure the "vet" got the favoritism. Eli has never beat out anyone for a job here. Not Couture, not Speller, not Desjarlais, not Gray, not Neufeld, not Kolankowski. Could be a mass conspiracy against him I guess. He'll probably get another chance both interior and RT this year.

Streveler more or less slots into Prukops place on the salary chart. Rookie 3rd QB.

Bombers can easily pay Oliviera and Schoen. Means Hardrick is gone. Which kind of a meh for me. Looked to me all last season like he was breaking down and had some downright awful games. Makes our club stronger if someone else is paying him close to 200k. Means they are moving from both corners. I could see Bailey and Gray back. Will depend on their market and Bomber willingness to keep them on roster…that part more for Bailey than Gray. They could try to go Canadian at RT between Gray and Eli.

Think that shoe is on the other foot. No reason at all for Streveler to sign more than one year. Keep options open for NFL and otherwise.

I wonder if Burmeister is here as a QB. His college career as a QB is about as good as anyone coming up to CFL.

This is actually where they could use the "new" (year old) roster rules to their advantage on offense at receiver/running back.

Cottoy and McInnis are basically uncoverable and huge mismatch issues. Those guys and Wolitarsky are best at that basically H back who blocks but also lines up really anywhere kind of role.

Remember how Harris was doing here in 16 before they sorted out the OL by moving Bond in to guard, and Hardrick stepped up at RT? O'Shea was about to get fired. That's kind of the danger for Oliviera. And contracts aren't guaranteed. His income outside of football is way larger here. He's a celebrity here. He might be in Sask too. Otherwise he'll be a nobody until he produces. I don't see more than 3 teams giving him a call on Day 1 including the Bombers. Toronto, Sask, Winnipeg. And Toronto obviously wants to keep their own guy and if they do probably won't be interested.

They gotta work on screen game and other quick stuff this year. Lawler is great at it. Will absolutely bind defenses in combination with their and Demski's ability to get downfield too.

A lot like Vernon Adams. Low arm talent. Did alright in Air Raid stuff just reading pre snap where the safeties were and going to prescribed route. Didn't play much in USFL but looked extremely overmatched when he did. Kind of guy that could be the short-yardage specialist if he picks up the wedge play. Ran some zone read stuff so has some ability with option. Definitely a guy that's been on CFL radar forever. He took over for injury as a sophomore and then junior year got Eastern Washington to the FCS Championship Game where they got stomped by NDSU. Basically if he ends up being as good as Prukop he's done alright. Don't expect him to be slinging it out of the pocket up here, but I guess we'll see. I don't see Bailey being a guy getting a lot of calls day 1 outside of Ottawa. Bailey was huge for Brown. What did he have, 13 or 14 catches with Brown last season? Like 1/3 of his season total. But I'm not sure Ottawa will pay him either. I think like a high 90s with some bonuses kind of deal would be the ceiling for him. Just hasn't really stepped into that #2 type receiver role whenever it's opened up for a few games.

A lot off scrambles though, right? And teams are rolling coverage on him so there's guys nearby below and above. Schoen's averages are higher with Lawler last season, and his games with Brown are well below his average. I think his connection with Collaros will probably keep him here really. I could see Bailey and BOLO following Brown. I'm just not sure anyone will commit to Bailey being more than a 3-4 type receiver.

Who exactly do you think we got from reputation? Bailey hit the market and didn't have much for offers. For an example, a guy like Bane was already getting better offers than him last year. A guy like Alexander has been kind of a mess with injury and diminishing returns. Didn't have much of a market. Everyone got paid. Brown needs to play.

Fuuuck with that explosiveness wonder if he'd be willing to convert to rush end and start eating 8 meals a day.

It’s kind of a double draft because a bunch of U Sports guys deferred. But there could be some 3rd and 4th year guys eligible who defer to 2025 as well in the next few months.
