# 26 Carl Fitzgerald
Sounds like Kelly is playing so Carter will continue to back up. How is Cotton getting on the roster then? Everyone in the media seems pretty sure he's going to play, I'm starting to wonder if he's just being added to the 46 in place of Anderson going on the 1 game IR.

Early Top 10 Ranking for 2015 Draft
Ahh...I was wondering how so many CIS guys were rated that high, kind of wondering where Boyko was too. This is going to be a tough draft to navigate with NFL interest.

# 26 Carl Fitzgerald
He'll be playing receiver if anyone gets injured in Montreal.

CFL Week 3 Winnipeg vs Montreal Preview
Unless one of the guys on defence gets hurt. Then what? Alexander and Louie Richardson get to play more than they will anyways. Dan West and Derek Jones are also options. If Thomas goes down, it'll be exclusively 30 fronts I'm assuming. I'd really like to see the Bombers auditioning some NI DL on the practice roster, interior ones specifically.

Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
The 2010 CBA says nothing about being able to appeal a fine - just the procedure for appealing a suspension. I don't think that's changed but I'm not certain. Doesn't say a lot of things in the CBA or league by-laws that are league convention, such as the maximum fine being half a game cheque. Doesn't say anything about third party arbitration for suspensions or fines either, just that a player can appeal the penalty back to the commissioner and the commissioner has the power to remit any penalty. Traditionally, the appeals have gone to a 3rd party. The league has tried to move away from this the last 2 CBA negotiations, but haven't been able to get the players to agree to any alternative to this point.

The players can appeal fines using the same process used to appeal suspensions, third party arbitration. Just not as blatantly obvious as when you have a "suspended" player who plays 1 or 2 games during the arbitration process, falls off the media radar.

Willis fined for hit on Collaros
Incidental head contact is still head contact. Plenty of options for how Willis could have taken down Collaros on that play. Football is partly about making the right decisions. He made the decision to aim above the chest the way he did. To me, if Willis runs at Collaros the same way but secures him using his hands in some way, maybe the league doesn't fine him. This is absolutely on target IMO. A tackle is a hit and a wrap. That was a hit and a launch through the player, not a tackle. If you rise up in your wrap and make head to head contact, that's incidental, when you rise through with your head tucked and crown launching up and forward, that's an attempted kill shot. You just don't tackle with the crown of your helmet forward like that and your chin tucked, that's extremely dangerous for the defensive player too.

Early Top 10 Ranking for 2015 Draft
Surprised to see Demski that high to be honest. Still really raw as a receiver, and might end up playing some tailback again this year.

Jerome Messam signs with Riders
High caliber National talent wouldn't sit idle for a month and get essentially cut by 3 different teams. Messam had a great run in 2011, but he brings nothing to a football team when he's not carrying the ball, and he's not quite good enough to be an every down back. Pontbriand is a more valuable player. I don't think the Bombers are struggling with the ratio when they are about to play 3 IMP OL.

Marve arm strength
Throw a ball 65 yards under no pressure with no target? Yes, I'd expect a pro QB to be able to do that.

Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
Suspended players are not paid. That's why Korey Banks came back to Winnipeg last week to force the Bombers to release him or shuffle him onto the roster in some capacity, cause he wasn't going to get paid on the suspended list.

CBC's CFL Power Rankings Week 2
Anyone who ranks the Eskimos above Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and maybe Saskatchewan at this point doesn't know what they are watching. Even if you are factoring in how teams finished 2013 it makes zero sense, and truly power rankings should not look back into a past season. It should be, if team x played team y this week, who would I expect to win? This is particularly true for teams who have not played each other yet. I'd expect Calgary to beat anyone right now. They are an easy number 1. Edmonton snuck out two games where they played completely inept teams that literally handed them a bunch of points. Their offence looks like garbage. Winnipeg and Calgary have played relatively complete games, with Ottawa taking advantage of the Bombers in the first quarter. Edmonton is 5, and that is generous IMO, cause it would basically be a pick em for me if they were playing Montreal, Ottawa or BC (easily beat them week 1 without 4 INT's). I'd go: Calgary Winnipeg Toronto Saskatchewan Edmonton Montreal BC Ottawa Hamilton Hamilton can't get out of the basement until they demonstrate any kind of functional offense with any of their QB's, like even to get to Troy Smith level.

AFL ON TSN2 Right Now
I'd rather have him than Kierre or Chad Johnson. He didn't look too hot in the AFL game though. They must pay those guys in buffets or something, they all look real heavy to me.

Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
The not-good thing about Grigsby on that play was that it sure looked like Grigsby didn't even try, and that could have put Willy right out of the game. Grigsby gave the rusher a complete free shot- hope it doesn't happen too often. If you watch that play again it looks like Grigsby is focused on the inside rusher which was probably his designated block. It was a matter of choosing between two pass rushers and unfortunately Grigsby chose the wrong one. It would be very odd for them to designate blocks in a play design like that because they have no idea who is rushing other than assuming the DL will. Ottawa was sending that halfback on delayed blitzes quite a bit, I think that's what tripped Grigsby up. He went to double up with Pontbriand after he saw nothing else coming off the edge and missed the delayed halfback blitz. Now why he watched Ottawa recover Willy's fumble...no explanation for that.

AFL ON TSN2 Right Now
I'm wondering if Ross was a OL or DL. Either that or he's been doing a lot of eating. Can't see him doing anything in the CFL as a running back. I've seen him carry it a couple times, but they are mostly lining him up a step off the OL and he's pass blocking.

AFL ON TSN2 Right Now
Former Blue Bomber Derrick Ross is the RB. What did he play for the Bombers? I don't recall him.

AFL ON TSN2 Right Now
Orlando vs Philadelphia. Boltus is Orlando's starting QB. Greg Carr playing receiver for Orlando. Bryan Randall is the backup QB for Philly. Philly has a 300 lb tailback too. Is it possible for an AFL game to be broadcast without Kurt Warner being mentioned? I've been watching this one for 10 minutes and they've already mentioned him twice.

Willis fined for hit on Collaros
You can always form tackle someone who has the ball. It's not that hard, can't hit anyone above the shoulders, can't hit a QB standing prone in the pocket in the knees and below. Somehow not being able to hit above the nipples works for rugby, problem in football is that the helmet has become a weapon and a tool for tackling, some guys like Willis have terrible habits and barely even use their arms to tackle, which is why RB's are usually flying by him into the 2nd level.

Willis fined for hit on Collaros
Initial contact with shoulder is fine, the follow through with the crown of helmet to facemask needs to be penalized with flags and fines. That's garbage, the upward motion and leaving his feet was completely unnecessary, and makes one wonder about intent. You can't hit people in the head, and that especially goes for QB's. Ramming the crown of your helmet into people is a good way to shorten your own spine too. If Willy got hit like that everyone would be crying.

Turf Laid Down In Ottawa
No ****. Paul Wiecek @PaulWiecek #Bombers will play Ticats on July 31 at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster U. #bn Are they going to be able to even televise this game? Good grief. If they can broadcast games from Mosaic and McMahon, they can broadcast games from Ron Joyce Stadium. They broadcast CIS games from there, they'll just need more cord with fewer permanent camera spots.

Tim Horton Field Update
Really doubt they could put the games into other cities on that short of notice. They'd have to eat a lot of money in terms of flights, hotels etc. They'll play in a parking lot with lines painted on it before that. Cats will be getting a million bucks back from the contractor for each home game lost. I'm sure that would cover the expenses. I agree the logistics would be tough to do on short notice but what else can they do? They go to McMaster they lose money, they go to other venues they lose money. If you go to say Ottawa or Winnipeg at least you stand a chance of filling the place and recouping some of the loss. Just asking the question is all They'll lose less money at McMaster. As you said, they get a payout from the builder. Why waste more of that on paying for cancellation fees on hotels and flights?

Marve arm strength
I'd be disappointed if a CFL QB couldn't put it between the uprights from midfield. Bishop could probably knock the sub out of someone's hand in the UC food court from midfield. Marve's arm is very strong though, I was watching him in warmup toss to receivers and DB's about 15-20 yard passes, Buck was on the same side as him tossing the same passes, and Marve's were way more direct and in the receivers hands in an instant.

Injury updates
Doesn't really change anything for them unless they decide to adjust the ratio there.
-
Injury updates
3 NIs on defence. Basically a NI LB on at all times, and Thomas won't be able to sub out for a LB, cause that LB who's been replacing him will already be on. Unamba probably comes off. Dunn moves to DI.
