Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
Except the 4 games our QB started and finished where our offence was not a problem at all, other than some redzone issues vs Montreal.

August 23 practice report
I know the saying but I don't know how it can be relevant to this discussion. In the past 25 years, the Stamps have never had an OL as bad as the Bombers. Since 1990, the team's OL has always been a strength year in & year out. they always had a veteran group playing up front. So, they could bring in young players & groom them to start for 2 1/2 decades with the veterans playing ahead of them. The Stamps the past two years have lost impact players on their offensive line like Dmitri Tsoumpas, Brent Jones, Jon Gott & Stanley Bryant & had backup players ready to replace them. Winnipeg has never had that luxury. They never had the talent or the depth teams like Calgary have had. The Bombers have to find players who can play now. Having a player developing is nice but it's hard for the Bombers to do that. Hence the signing of Stanley Bryant & paying a premium to get him. So again, you can't compare Winnipeg's OL to Calgary & how the Stamps built theirs. It's completely different. The point is that to have the depth, you have to build the depth. And that takes time, both for the whole unit to come together and for individual players to develop. The only irrelevant point here is the one about Bryant, because imports aren't given time to develop. There's no premium on them, there's literally 5000 offensive linemen coming out of NCAA each year. They can play or they aren't pros.

Well what can you say?
You remind of the Chinese student in Tiananmen Square that stared down a tank. That guy also really hated Mike O'Shea.

Da'Rel Scott To 6-Game
Garrett was great to end 2011 as well. 576 yards in 6 games for a 6.3 yard avg with 4 TD. Not to mention the 190+ yard performance in the East Final. Both Garrett and Simpson were great for one small segment of time and then completely dropped off. It takes a pretty well glued together small running back to survive the pounding if he is giving it his flat-out best every down. Charlie Roberts was the exception but it seems to be the 210 lb George Reed type who lasts long enough to be remembered. Like 211 lb Da'Rel Scott...5 touches done for the season. Size is meaningless when it comes to injury. If anything the bigger guys are more injury prone because they have more pressure on their joints.

Bomber transactions
No. I'd rather use more imports on the OL, even if it's someone who is inexperienced because our issue is at least as much physical as mental on the OL. People somehow magically think Gordon is going to transform into a better player than JFG this week, but he's been useless when the lights have been on in pre-season and regular season.

Teams "starting" the minimum 7 NI's are the exception, not the norm. There's not really a point to be made, just allows for your roster on one side of the ball to not get shredded if you suffer an in-game injury.

August 23 practice report
Even makes more sense to split his reps though right? Doesn't matter who the starter is they'd split reps on day 1 of a long week (4 or 5 full practices). Sure if your talking about a Vet Qb yeah or a backup that can actually move the offense but that ain't the case here is it? But but but here we go.Brohm should be gone period. Wouldn't it make even more sense to spread the reps around then early in the week? Anyways, I'm done feeding this trolling garbage. If you want to talk football, join in anytime.

If I were Wade miller I would...
Greaves, Neufeld and Picard don't have the capability to be 'dominant' as individuals, never have, never will. Bryant and Chungh better play real well to form a 'dominant' OL with those guys. I think 'adequate' would be setting the bar fairly high for this crew.

Week 9 - Cal.@ Ssk., Ott.@ Tor.
It's made for baseball. Where every seat at IGF is facing midfield more or less, every seat at SkyDome is pitched toward home plate, which is basically the endzone of the end facing the scoreboard. It's terrible for football.

The bigger miss was Waud. I'm not a fan of "projects." Waud immediately would have been a player for us.

Week 9 - Cal.@ Ssk., Ott.@ Tor.
He can't pass. Marve looks better as a passer, which would be scary for me if I were a Rider fan. Not only is he struggling with the mental side of it and decision-making, his arm does not look good at all. He needs a lot of space to get a pass off in the pocket and he needs a wide-open target.

Is B.C. worse than the Blue?
I haven't seen any evidence of that this season. Washington is in way over his head. BC's defense is loaded with talent, but they can't get off the field. That's bad play calling, bad intuition and not putting the guys in position to make the big plays when they are needed. Lulay is by far the worst starting QB in the league to this point. BC is giving up 70 more yards per game than they gain on average, the Bombers give up about 45 more on average. About the only spots I'd give BC a significant advantage are offensive line and kicker. Lulay has a track record 4 years ago, but has struggled since and they don't score many points, basically at the same rate as our backup QB's.

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion
Procedurally, what does that exactly mean? Just that it'll be longer that 6 weeks, or that it'll be another 6 weeks? It's like the 9 week IR used to be, but now there's no limit on pulling guys off early, just that their salary for the entire time up to the 6 weeks counts towards the SMS total. Ray could be back at anytime.

Grey Cup & Banjo Bowl Temporary Stands
We had about 3-3.5 million in profit this past year, no? 25,500 tickets at say $250 is 6.4 million. Lose $, no. Make less than expected, yes. I think they have to front quite a bit just to get the event here, and then all the operations cost of putting it on. If they grossed $6.5 million on ticket sales they'd likely lose a bunch of money. If the game was the only revenue generator yes. But all those other events generate a substantial amount of revenue. as well. Don't forget ticket sales aren't the only revenues for the game. I'm sure there will be millions from merchandise and concession sales especially once you factor in the stadium doors being opened up 2 hours or so prior to game time. It's not called the grand national drunk for nothing. Still it's too bad the poor pricing structure will prevent the expected profits from Grey Cup week. The extra money would have gone a long way to secure the club's future during seasons in which the club might have experienced a shortfall in revenues. Now, there will be less margin for error. I doubt that they gross much above low 7 figures from the rest of the event, including merchandise and concessions. Unless they are selling beers for $100, which is possible considering my tickets are 12x their value for any other game. They are basically on pace to gross $10 million if they can move most of the tickets. If they have 3000-4000 empty seats that knocks $1 million off that number. Once they pay for the event and kick up to the league they are looking at having $3 million on the good side of the ledger from the Grey Cup game based on the number of tickets they are selling.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
Let's hope. More likely scenario is that he spends the next decade whining in the CFL media about how he doesn't get consideration for any open head coach or GM job, and then he can retire from groveling.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
You have that backwards. He begged for an interview and like every other team in the league for the last 7-8 years the Bombers took a pass.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
I found how they handled their QB's very odd last night. A couple times Cato finally got into rhythm and then they'd toss Marsh out there to run option, have one decent play and then one negative play, punt. They should have pummeled BC last night.

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR
I'm not sure why people are so against Randle at SAM. He had two bad games, other than that, dominant.

Is B.C. worse than the Blue?
In fairness, Marve is capable base on the small sample size he shows. If not for the penalties, a fumble by Kohlert and a stupid call by Marcel at the end, we should have won that game. Plus he played thru with a stomach flu and just had an abbreviated (6-snaps) 1 day practice. I think Marve's capability is going to be a week-to-week thing. He's really raw.

Grey Cup & Banjo Bowl Temporary Stands
That's part of it. I could afford it, but I don't have much interest in being at the game unless the Bombers are in it. Now if my seat was $100, I'd probably buy it and think I can flip it if the Bombers aren't in it. When you ask me to pay $300 for a seat that's $25 per game you are effectively killing my ability to resell that seat, even at a small loss, unless the Riders are in the game. No other fanbase travels well enough. Maybe they are trying to kill that resale market, but it's killing their natural market.

Grey Cup & Banjo Bowl Temporary Stands
The last 3 Grey Cups have been priced ridiculously. Saskatchewan made some sense because they were pushing hard to be in that game and they knew they had a sellout in the bag. The last 2 have made no sense. If you are going to place the value of a Grey Cup seat higher than the value of potentially 11 games between pre-season, reg season and playoffs in any stadium, you are going to have empty seats. If they price the game as they have, there will be empty seats in almost every CFL stadium without the circumstances that happened in Regina in 2013.

Lulay has been struggling for the last 2 seasons he's played. It's more than a blip.

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR
You have to admit, calgarys lb core is much more talented then ours with the exception of bass (if current trends continue) randle really ought to be back in the secondary and hurl, while coming along, is no simpson. It cant be at all shocking that we would want to add a simmons to our group after seeing how well he can ball while in ottawa. SAM or DIME or whatever they are calling it this season is a secondary position. Whoever is playing that spot has to be able to cover slotbacks, often the main target of the offense, on every down.
