Addison Richards Retires
The use of steroids have decreased quite a bit in my experience among youth football players over the 20 or so years I've been involved including through junior and CIS. It's incredibly noticeable when someone is on them now. I think part of it is a positive peer pressure and part of it is that sport specific training has taken off and most realize that using steroids and growth hormone for any length of time is actually detrimental to being on the field. More of an issue now are other stimulants, amphetamines and "drugs of abuse" meaning stuff you buy on the street and take at parties.

3 stars plus HH broken esks streak edition
Sure. But they wouldn't put a guy there they didn't trust to handle the ball off kicks.

3 stars plus HH broken esks streak edition
Flanders has been the second returner for every game he's played. Just finally got kicked to.

All of Nichols bad incompletions were intended for Lankford...me thinks he's running **** routes.

Receiving crew needs some love. Adams Denmark Thorpe and Coates all made big grabs.

Yes. He has good film and good measurables. LeFevour was in a NFL camp last summer.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
The CFL publishes a report every week, google CFL team stats. It's hard to find navigating their website, best viewed PDF.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
Nichols best numbers relative to league averages are on 9-19 yard throws. Also Jeffcoat is 5th in the league in QB pressures, Walker tied for 3rd in pass knockdowns.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
Also interesting, Nichols completion percentage on 20+ yard throws is 34.1%, league average is 42.8%, only Collaros is worse thus far.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
Bombers are 52.1% on second down. 3rd in the league behind Edmonton and Montreal. League average is 48.9%. Bombers are far above league average on 2nd and 6 or less, a bit below league average on 2nd and 7 or more (31.1% to league average 37.6%). 4th in the league at redzone conversion to TD at 62.5%, league average is 58%, behind BC, Ottawa and Sask. Our D is 5th on 2nd down but above league average, 48.1% for Bombers. Better than Calgary in all these areas btw which is kind of odd IMO.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
Who leads in wins by two scores or more? Kinda of a silly stat to use as a comparison. If you win every game 50-0 you're at zero, but it looks bad.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
Would be an easy and boring game if it were that binary and simple. Every team is running route combinations that have receivers at several distances and depths. Comes down to the reads of the QB and the amount of time he has to get the ball out (which determines the amount of time there is for receivers to run/complete routes), both perceived from pre-snap reads and actual from what happens when the ball is in his hands.

Bet Franklin signs in the NFL and tries to make it there first.

I wonder if they still pee test the injured list. When a guy goes from a little soft, but athletic to looking like a powerlifter in the space of about 3 years you wonder. Wonder more when he keeps injuring weight bearing joints and tendons.

Injury Report
Best part is where Ray says his shoulder is sore but pain free. Guessing he wasn't an English major.

Matt Nichols, Elite quarterback?
The big plays are nice. If we get first downs and score points I could care less about how they happen or how many plays it takes. Most teams are dropping 3-4 DB's into deep zones every play. Those deep shots are pretty risky and ending up in 2nd and long is a bad outcome. I don't believe Nichols is shy to take the shot when his reads take him there.
