  1. It's not a hard cap. It's a system to keep salaries in a range. If they want a hard cap they should enforce it daily or weekly.
  2. Why don't we have guys on the PR? Why are we signing guys on the PR? Some need to pick a lane. Our fanbase getting dumber, or just a few?
  3. They are playing to win the Grey Cup this year. They could give a rip about the 2025 CFL Draft.
  4. Our Adams played in the game in Winnipeg.
  5. Disagree. They had a scheme to let Rourke rot back there by taking away his pre-snap (first) reads with multiple coverage looks and changing looks right off the snap. There was hardly any pressure. There were some coverage sacks. Pressure wasn't key to that game plan. But you can't play that scheme repeatedly and against QB's like BLM and Harris. You need to move them.
  6. Our best game for QB pressures this season was home vs BC DL was Garbutt, Schmekel, Thomas, Adams, Woods, Jefferson. At BC we killed them with coverage, often dropping 9, very rare we didn't drop out less than 8 in that game. To me, Haba is the luxury. Easy to cover that edge rush with the extra backers and we run a ton of 30 fronts anyways. Adams being on over him is obvious based on the strengths of our current scheme and Haba not being that impactful of a rusher.
  7. Yeah it is. They've got almost nothing high end. They didn't replace anyone they lost on the DL. They replaced Rhymes with rookies. Hatcher was down for the first 6. The only guy they paid on D has been down all season (Woods). Couture was down for first 6. TJ Lee was down for 6. They cut Dolegala immediately which covers about 1/3 of Rourke for rest of season.
  8. A team that has Patrice Rene and Adrien Greene starting at SAM and HB. Ryder Varga and Ben Hladik taking most snaps at middle and WIL. Look at their OL. They kept money back for these guys.
  9. In any amateur sport a violation like Lemon's would make him an ineligible player from the time of the violation on....meaning any wins a team got with him on the roster wouldn't count. Montreal should feel lucky that's not the case here. The players get lengthy training every year from league and union on the gambling issue. There's no excuse.
  10. The SAM switched to being an every down DB type guy in the 90's. First real impactful ones in my memory was a guy named Darryl Hall who played for Calgary under Buono in a couple stints and Don Wilson who played for Edmonton (Stubler D) and Toronto (Matthews in mid-90's). Bombers basically played a 3-4 until Cal Murphy got fired. They'd run a dime back in for a linebacker. First real SAM we had was Mo Kelly with Reinebold.
  11. Yeah but even if he's just a CFLer he's killed his ability to get any signing bonuses as a FA every year or two, whether he stays with Montreal or not. And he's put his career entirely in Montreal's hands. He's got no leverage through the prime years of his career. There's basically no reason for a CFL player to sign a contract more than 2-3 years unless they are getting insane money to sign...like 4 years of FA style signing bonus.
  12. Yeah probably never. If you do get him he'll be an overpaid guy who is washed like Covington on BC. There's basically 400 OL spots in the NFL and they all pay more than he'd make in the CFL even practice roster. And there's no limit on PR time anymore. Could have a 40 year old guy with 18 years in the league on your PR.
  13. I hope he got half a million up front. Otherwise incredibly stupid career move. Likely doesn't have an agent.
  14. It's crazy to me how many teams aren't carrying 4 QB's. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of Grainger. Wonder if guys are refusing PR spots to try US spring leagues instead.
  15. Whitehead is kind of like when we brought back Albert Johnson III in 2006. His brain knows what to do but he doesn't have the wheels or the extra gears anymore. I think between him and coaches they view the missed FG's as an opportunity for a big play but he just doesn't have that speed to explode off that first cut that you need to beat the angle even on the heavier cover team.
  16. I would say have a panel for each game with 2 former players/coaches and 1 former referee. Bring a group of 30-50 of these people together each year, train them up on the rulebook/current rules and changes, have a meeting each week. They all make a decision and don't speak to each other. They could all be on their own couch at home. They have 1 minute to review and decide. Majority rules. Doesn't matter what call on the field is. Their mandate is to make the right call based on what they see. For procedural type stuff maintain a booth referee.
  17. Yes Lawler was on that corner and in good position with DB in chase on that play. Collaros had the Ticats WIL LB right in his grill of the snap. There's no way he can set his feet to make that throw. He couldn't even make the 10 yard toss to Oliviera while working away from that LB. The footwork there caused the throw to sail. The Play Should have thrown it away.
  18. Everyone associated with that club is a loser. They could have put us and the Stamps away by the end of August...yet here we are. Can't win an important game no matter what time of year.
  19. Lawler's only played 3 games and he has a ton of drops.
  20. Well he's usually starting at 5... I didn't see many clean pockets there. Lots of huge plays off scrambles for what they made out of the passing game. Completely lost any ability to go vertical when Randolph went to tackle which was about the 5th play of the game. Worse when Eli came in and starting seeing the pocket collapse on both sides of the line regularly. Lots of throw aways to save some yards. Very easy to defend and not a whole lot different they could have done. Scrap out some runs, hope to hit something if you get in 2nd and long. Everyone in the stadium calling plays knew what the situation was, it's not like Hamilton was just going to do what their plan was. They knew their one edge was basically given a free run into the pocket, they dropped out 9 and just blanketed the field. Pretty scrappy to pull that one out. People say bring in Streveler....doesn't look like an option to me. He's really dinged up. He can barely function in short yardage.
  21. Here's from the rulebook, relevant clauses to the Wilson play: Incomplete Forward Pass: while in midair a receiver of either team who has firm control of the ball, but loses possession of the ball when that player's feet or other part of the body hits the ground, with or without contact by any opponent. Complete Forward Pass: When a receiver of either team, who is in the air and has complete control of the ball, has his feet or another part of his body hit the ground, the player must retain possession for the pass to be ruled complete, with or without contact by an opponent.
  22. Yeah called a catch for White who never had the ball. That's where this whole "need to prove call on field was wrong" bit is so silly.
  23. Based on Hamilton's game last week player safety doesn't seem like much of a concern. Edmonton LB clubs a receiver in side of head to KO him then spears the QB crown of helmet to facemask to put both guys in hospital. No flags, no calls from the CC to throw flag.
  24. And if they can't make a call, get rid of them. This whole needing evidence to overturn an incorrect call on the field destroys the purpose of the review. Disregard the call on the field and make the right call based on the video.
