CFL Week 3 Winnipeg vs Montreal Preview
I'll concede that Troy Smith looked better in week 2 but let's be clear here - he still looked piss poor. Their offense scored ONE touchdown and he still completed not much over half his passes. I'm not impressed with Smith at all. It's been a while since we've been able to say that we clearly have the better QB going into a game.

Any updates on Willy's hand?
I never want to call an injury a good thing, but I also wonder ... would we have seen the emergence of Teague Sherman if Newman hadn't been hurt? I know I'm looking forward to seeing both of them on the field at once.

CFL Week 3 Winnipeg vs Montreal Preview
I'm worried about how our offense will match up with their defense but I expect our defense to have a big day against Troy Smith. I'm predicting Winnipeg 24 Montreal 16 with the difference being a touchdown that isn't scored by our offense.

Durant had a bad game. They'll bounce back.

MTL 24 BC 2
I honestly think BC would have had better results if they just used a 400 pound road cone at left tackle.

Perfect example of this is the Craig Butler hit on Pierce in the Banjo Bowl. Hit him in the chest, impact rose up and Pierce's helmet flew off. Did Butler drop his head and launch the crown of his helmet into Buck's jaw? Are you implying that's what Willis did?

That's a 100% clean hit. Turned away, did everything he could to avoid leading with the helmet and then the movement of each player upon contact causes the slightest of helmet contact. If you want to make H2H contact a black and white call, you're throwing multiple flags on every single play.

Which Coach gets an early paid Vacation?
I don't think any head coaches get canned this year. Maybe during the offseason.

BC has an incredibly mediocre receiver group without Manny Arceneaux.

I think Edmonton is better than they looked last week.

This play calling is atrocious. Probably the most inept offensive battle I've seen in a long time.

Leos at Als / Tabbies at Eskies / Riders at Argos
Let's get one thing straight. This game is between two awful teams. Troy Smith looks good because he's being compared to a guy with a 400 pound pylon blocking his blind side.

John Bowman is a master spelunker, he's all over this Cave.

Troy Smith still can't aim.

Dear Etch
In the first Q, we had crazy DL rush/blitz schemes and left the flats open for Walker to exploit or if we didn't stop him in the backfield, run for 10-15 yards... classic Etch. After that didn't work, he retreated to a more CFL zone D. We sent four DL almost all game with the occasional safety or LB blitz. Seemed like Wild (for the most part) took a lot more of a 'contain' role than 'all or nothing' pressure. I think he gambled hard on getting to Burris in the 1st Q, it didn't work and, thankfully, he recognized that. Later in the game, he started getting a bit Etch again but by that time, the D was rolling and Walker was off his game. Just my opinion of course... haven't rewatched the game... not that I can thanks to TSN... Honestly, the thing that stood out most to me is that it looked like he stopped allowing them to isolate Bucknor in man coverage situations and he stopped sending Wild after Burris all the time. You nailed it with your assessment, imo. I don't think I saw Leggett lining up in the box as much either, because by the time he was backpedaling into position early in the game, Burris already had the ball out of his hands and Leggett wasn't there in the secondary.

Coaching differences....
re: the flea flicker That was executed really well ... but the one DB on Ottawa did a great job of not letting the primary target fly by and we didn't end up getting a big gain. Good play by whatever expansion DB that was. Good play by Willy to not panic and still make it a positive play.

Charlie Roberts was never big enough to stand toe to toe with guys that he needed to block, but man did he know how to turn into an effective speed bump.

Dear Etch
To be fair, most of us would've done the exact same thing with Burris. The book on Hank is to get to him early.

Roster thoughts post game #2 - changes must be made
I'm going to ignore the rest of post for now, but dude get a grip. Turner just had a baby with his wife. See the other thread about him missing the game. Family comes first. He Family needed him there. To suggest he should have missed the birth of his daughter is ludicrous and shows you don't have any kids, or vision outside of football. You point about planning to have a kid outside of football season? Man are you ignorant. People have miscarriages, and it can take years to concieve a kid. Having kids and is a lifetime event. Football is maybe 3-10 years if you are lucky. In 10 years, football will be a memory. How many kids do you have? I think i already know the answer. I'm sure he has had several children, all of which he missed the births of in order to assume his position as the backup holder for the field goal kicker of his beer league football team. But we haven't been around football, so we wouldn't know what the culture is like.

And if you think anyone here actually believes a word you're saying, you are wrong.

Roster thoughts post game #2 - changes must be made
Whether you coached in the NCAA or not (which you didn't, of course), you obviously don't understand the CFL when you make comments like "the RB doesn't have to block" or "we should just use an American for punting only"
