TiCats at Bombers early chat
Yes, that's another oddity that they showed him moved to PR but in fact he's still on the AR this week. I don't have an issue with him still on the AR but why was that transaction made earlier? Maybe they thought either Griffin or Parker was still in a GTD?

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Hardly any go for a TD but the returner has to make a decision based on possible field position gained by not giving up the single. Goal post at the back of the end zone means a missed FG has to be short in order to be returned at all. It virtually eliminates the chance of a rouge by going wide. Many a game was won or lost by that rouge on a missed FG.

Based on this weekends Bomber game. Vaval missed FG would have gone out the back of the end zone if the Redblacks even attempted it. He caught it deep in the back of the end zone. That's not going to improve the game. It will also reduce the number of last play game winning FG's due to the increased distance needed to try that FG.

I can see Houston replacing Vaval at CB but wonder if he stays on the AR to do return duty? If he stays on then who gets taken off to meet the ratio? Are we ever going to get Bailey onto the AR? IMO Mitchell needs to be replaced. Even starting Corcoran in his place seems a better option and gives us a ratio benefit. I'd like to see what Echols could do as a replacement but O'Shea seems reluctant? I've gone so far to suggest Mitchell should be released outright. What the heck is the status for Sterns and Parker. Both on 1 game IR but not practising yet? Any chance they might be ready this week? Obviously Sterns might be next up at receiver if he can play. I don't understand why some players sit on the 1 game IR ( Parker ) when they've shown no signs they could practice. If that's the case then why didn't they get put on 6 game IR? Is this some sort of illusion on confusing opponents?

O'Shea says every player is a starter so why pick on Booch.

I suppose that is true but after losing Schmekel we'd be down to just Lawson and Woods or Adams if Thomas is removed now. I don't think we'd add 2 import DT's but anything is possible. I noticed that Kornelson was added to the AR not the PR. That could change but I'm not expecting an import DT this week. Kramdi was practising so that's good news and allows other possible changes.

I'd keep Lawson but would get rid of the others you mentioned. Getting rid of Thomas is an issue now due to ratio, so that's a different question or thought. Before last week I would have kept J. Jones before Ayers. Now Woodbey is added into the mix. He looked good in his 1st game. In case you missed it we re-signed global LB Oyelola after a few years in the NFL. Does he immediately replace Weitz who I wondered why we kept in the 1s place.

He's a favourite of O'Shea which is nuts IMO. It doesn't seem that he'd be the next man up at any of the 3 starting LB positions if we have an injury. I liked what I saw from Woodbey in his 1st game. J.Jones seems to have fallen off the radar though. If Kramdi or Makonzo are able to play this week, that gives our starter or depth back at SAM. Woodbey played due to that need with Griffin moving to SAM. I'd keep Woodbey on the AR for at least another week, but that would be at the cost of Ayers. I see we've re-signed Kornelson which suggests we're sticking with an all Canadian DT interior. Also signed global LB Oyelola after a few years in the NFL. Not sure why we did that unless we're getting rid of Weitz.

I was thinking they could take Logan off and use Mitchell as the returner. He has more experience at that than Echols and is already more in sync with the offence as depth. I didn't think Woodbey would get many reps on defence but he was on the field immediately and didn't look out of place. He recorded 2 DT's and 1 ST compared to none for Ayers. I'd like to keep on the AR but that may be difficult if we go back to an import DT. Of course the option is to take Ayers off, which would be my preference. Getting Bailey on would be useful but it may depend on whether Hallett or Makonzo are healthy.

I remember that Woodbey looked good in pre season. It's still a surprise that he's on the AR this week. That said with Griffin moving to SAM then maybe he sees useful reps on defence doing what Griffin was doing. Griffin was used to cover receivers and I'm not sure if Woodbey can do that? Although he's listed as a DB he doesn't appear to be a cover DB type guy. I think we expect Griffin to take most of the reps at SAM. If it's Woodbey that will be interesting. The depth chart is next to meaningless so we'll see who does what where.

Yikes!!!!!! This lineup is a surprise to say the least. What are the coaches thinking. Hopefully they prove me wrong. I don't get all of Woods, Adams and J.Jones getting bumped to the PR. If they aren't good enough then it's time to replace them on the PR. I thought Weitz would get bumped back to the PR but it doesn't appear we had another Canadian to add instead. All of Hallett, Kramdi and Makonzo not ready even though Makonzo has been " full " at practice?????? No Houston?

Schoen will replace Sterns who was moved to 1 game IR. So Mitchell stays for this week. He may get bumped next week by Moore or Echols. Houston coming on will probably mean Lawson gets bumped to PR.

No we don't need a Canadian @ SAM but Makonzo when healthy could be a very good addition. It also allows Griffin to play multiple rotational roles that he is currently doing very well. If it's up to me I'm sending Weitz back to the PR in order to add a Canadian to the AR. However we added Cobb already but that may have been a paper shuffle to keep PR roster within limits. I won't be surprised either way. If either of Kramdi or Demski don't play then there is room for those 2 changes on the AR regarding Canadians added. I believe Cobb was added just on the premise that Demski was a possible GTD but I expect him to play.

Anybody else hear that McLeod was released from the PR? Never mind, it's official now.

Griffin could but I'd guess Makonzo comes off the 6 game IR after missing 10 games this season. He could be listed as the starter but fall into more of a rotational SAM initially.

I'm not sure what Kramdi's injury status was from last week. I expected him to be on the AR this week. That said, I thought there was a good chance that Makonzo would also be added. Earlier we added Cobb from the PR and I'm not sure why they did that. Possibly that was in case Demski couldn't play this week. We added Weitz last week in lieu of a Canadian and I predicted that Cobb would potentially be added to replace the 2nd global player. Now I think Makonzo might be that player and Cobb gets bumped back to PR. This is contingent on Demski not being moved to 1 game IR, otherwise we might need Canadian receiver depth. If Kramdi is out, then Cobb might be the only other Canadian choice if we have to add 2 Canadians!! I expect Houston to play this week with the expectation that Lawson is moved probably to PR but possibly to 1 game IR. My thought is that PR is more likely. I'm feeling good that we will see the return of Schoen this week to replace Sterns who was moved to the 1 game IR.

1. Streveler is not an upgrade at QB. 2. Sure, but with who during the season? 3, 4 and 5 See above. We had some opportunities at the end of TC but stood pat with what we had.

Except we don't know the details for 2026 or whether there is significant guaranteed money etc. As far as 2025 if a 1/3 was paid upfront that still leaves $400K over the last 12 games. That's still not something any team will want. It will also need a season ending injury to VAJ, Rourke or Harris to have interest. I don't see that as an easy flip, nor do I see interest even if there is a season ending injury. Here we are suggesting Collaros is " done " but other teams will be happy to get him and his giant contract?

Even if there was interest, how do you trade a QB earning $600K+ and get anything back of value?

Bombers at Stamps early chat
Our Canadian receivers are not the best in the CFL except for Demski. So I'm not a fan of that choice starting 3 Canadians. We didn't keep any of all the import rookies we looked at in tryout camps or TC. So that was an absolute failure. Sterns is not horrible for a 3rd or 4th guy but he's not going to scare defences. Obviously losing Schoen didn't help but our choices are extremely limited with only Mitchell and new guy on the PR. The only advantage with 3 Canadian receivers if we use the extra import elsewhere effectively. What did we decide? Adding Cooley while bumping Peterson as the back up RB. That made zero sense and I expect it to change this week with some players coming off of IR. Of the choices we have, I'm not sure which they will choose.

Bombers at Stamps early chat
We can go with 3 import OL if we continue to have 3 starting Canadian receivers. Woods could come on if we move Cooley back to PR and add Peterson. So all sorts of possibilities. Parker will go to IR but we can add 2 other imports in their place. Taking off Ayers if we choose to add Logan, 3 import OL and Woods is another choice with J. Jones on the AR last week.
-
Argos at Bombers early chat
Adding Cooley was the last thing I was expecting. Case still has to be removed from the AR to IR so there is still an opening for another import. As mentioned, if Mitchell isn't added this week in some capacity, then why are we keeping him around? Good chance we see Kelly and or Makonzo added to replace Canadians moved to PR.

Bombers at Argos early chat
He's getting a full pay check without any risk of injury. That's not a bad gig. So far neither have declined to be extended on the 1 game IR. I don't understand why he's not on the AR though in place of Ayers most probably.

3 turds plus cranky honker don’t say roster management edition
That may be true about Clercius but as I pointed out we aren't getting much output in any case. So I'm suggesting we'd improve overall with Mitchell in at WR and him at SB. Now if we want to use Corcoron or Cobb in that role, I'd fine with that as well. In 3 of his 5 games he and 14 or less yards for the game. His best game was the 1st game against the Stamps. Bumping Vaval might happen anyway due to injury this week. So the suggestion of Case bumped to a returner role and back up receiver works for me too.

GDT - Bombers vs Stampers
I don't get the revenue sharing as a direct line to an SMS increase. When a company earns a profit there may be some bonus program for that year. It doesn't carry forward forever. Either way I would have thought the CFLPA would have had some sort of specific plan to create the concept of revenue sharing. As far as the Bombers using an increased SMS on the 1 game IR: Yes and no. Look at other teams 1 game IR and ours is very small in comparison. The complaint is that Mitchell and J. Jones were two expensive free agency acquisitions and can't make the AR.
