But there was also an outside factor. It's true that some of the most talented and experienced MLAs left, like Oswald, after the challenge to Selinger's leadership. This caused them to lose a lot of very talented staffers too. Then, in May 2015, the Alberta NDP took a majority in that province and drained out most of the rest. By then, the writing was on the wall, so everyone left. Politicians are just the front facing part of the machine. You still need an effective staff in order to get things done and generate appropriate new ideas.

They were definitely constrained by resources; however, even with more, I don't think they would have known what to do with it.

It was called the Highlander. Multipurpose facility with hockey ice built near the airport.

Game 68 @ Carolina Hurricanes
Nashville remains the team I believe can/will knock the Jets out. It's all on Helle because defense isn't really happening and we're still struggling to score.

So, my particular knowledge is limited to the departments I served. Both were primarily granting departments, meaning that they hand money out and someone else delivers the service or program to the public. There were elements delivered by the departments too but those were very few. When I say new ideas, I mean that they couldn't find solutions to problems. So, they would identify X as a problem but when they (they being the MLAs and their staffers) would suggest things that were not backed by science and/or experts or they would suggest things that didn't work in the past. A lot of throwing money at problems without a plan on how to deliver results. They wanted to do "good" and they meant well but they didn't know how to deliver that.

I lived through it. Sat in meetings that were 'bizarre' to say the least.

The NDP were definitely out of ideas. It was a mess. However, the destruction the PCs have done to all systems is criminal.

Dunstone was fortunate. Both skips made some incredible shots. Great game. Bring on Canada!

Random News Items
Thank goodness we have all this "red tape" in Canada, otherwise, that would be us more regularly. Last bank failure was in the mid-90s in Canada. Remember that every time someone is pushing to cut red tape. They're just looking for shortcuts that don't protect consumers and put more money in their pocket.

Game 65: Minnesota Wild
Why would they want to play for an organization like this one? Show some interest in winning and maybe they'll come. If I were a player, why would I want to come here? Everyone wants out.

Canadian Politics
Agreed. You can't have a public inquiry because so much would be classified to make any sense but parliamentarins have special clearances and can investigate. But, this picking up random leaks of random intel does a disservice to Canadians. We need clarity on what has happened or we need our parliamentarians to be informed. They need to get on this now.

Game 65: Minnesota Wild
I think you have to. Nothing else has worked and this team, as currently constructed, has been dismal. Clean house, top to bottom, GM, coaches and players. Be nice if the President would also fire himself but he won't leave his toy.
