  1. CC and the refs need to be full time employees who are held accountable for their performances. The lack of consistency in rule enforcement, and challenges is as bad as it’s ever been in the cfl. Changes need to be made this year.
  2. Ol do not get long term stays on prs. You don’t find mbt esq ol who have bounced prs for a decade. He will have a lot of teams interest while he holds interest down south, but when it passes, it’ll be all gone fast.
  3. Happens with young ol and ol changes. In theory we could get him this year, not real likely though. If he gets dinged up in camp down south though the chances of him being here in camp next year is extremely high. The nfl churns through ol prospects fast too. Guys don’t get a lot of repeated looks or time to develop if they don’t show out early.
  4. Eli isn’t a guard, Wallace isn’t ready. Yep, and Dobson has been good after a bit of a rough start, and the rights the gio manu as well. I’d still probably draft an ok in the top 3-4 rounds next year, but we are is very good shape for ni ol.
  5. Don’t think he’s lost a step, but he is certainly struggling with in his role, and even struggling at executing blocks. Hes a no2 guy, he’s robin not Batman. He does more for other guys than any wr in the league. If you have to pick 2 of the 3 you are best off with Demski and either guy. Not the other two with out demski. With out good guys to open stuff up for a lot of value is lost with Demski. Demski is getting a really big pay day. We have too much money tied up in too few positions for sure. If you look at the top 10 paid wrs in the league this year, most are behind nik in production. But, once lawler is back I think nik will play and provide much more again. Keep in mind he’s on track for almost 1000 yards again, his catch rate is very similar to Wilson’s, and Zack struggled soo badly for much of the first half. I would love to see Demski take a more team friendly deal next year.
  6. That’s two Canadians and 4 starters
  7. Idk. Harris is one of the guys who worries me the least at qb in the league. I could see the road teams winning the ldc/bjb. This is the stretch where we need to win and be splitting or above. especially after the last week we gotta find games to steal.
  8. He’s a high floor low ceiling passer. A team can only run the same stuff for soo long. Especially coming up short in the play offs over and over again. At some point you have to move on. Often in football you have to take a step back before you can move forward. You can go back further and further and all you ever see is him not starting and not being consistent. Honestly I think he’s only stayed in the league soo long because he’s a lazy safe pick. A rookie is a risk on an ar, and a lot of work to find the best available option and fit for you.
  9. Great combo. Like the game with out Kate on the panel. But alas tsn is married to the concept of mediocrity. With Kate atleast they try to compensate with a big persona, Glenn brings nothing though. Paul/ferguson have a great level of genuine enthusiasm, knowledge, and talent. If tsn trusted the product to sell it self and treated it seriously with production quality and staffing to match the league would be in a much better place with the under 35 demographic.
  10. Exactly, and the less we play Thomas with them taking more reps the more help it’ll be. I’m not sure garbutt will be the perfect compliment but he sure does look promising. I think a good rotation with haba wj garbutt and hubert will be good. Plus Adams with some snaps at edge. Even woods has done it. It certainly doesn’t diminish, and his instincts are as sharp as ever. In basketball some shot blockers diminish suddenly with age, but most don’t too badly. He should be effective in the pass lanes till he retires. It might be best for him if we don’t use him on the nose, and use him more as a jack in the 30 package especially. Let him get good jumps and clear angles with less time locked up on tackles.
  11. wj requires a strong structure and support in order to excel. That includes limiting hit reps so he is at 100% and has to go 100% on each snap, as well as keeping double teams/chipping blockers off him, also a clear set of keys to play off for when to go for a pkd instead of a sack. When he lacks that crucial support we get what we’ve seen this and last year. Spurts of utter brilliant domination followed by lackadaisical indecisive floating. A high motor bull on the opposite edge who he can go back and forth with taking shallow and deep angles is a big help. Plus when one side of the pocket is consistently pushed it naturally brings about passes to his side which opens his chances for pkds with out selling out for them. A big nose tackle who mashes the centre goes a long way too, basically makes it irresponsible to try and double wj. A few things to keep in mind with wj, he’s closer to 34 than 33, which is pretty old for a rush end. Hes always been exceptionally quick, more than fast, and that is the first thing to fade with age. Also, tall/long lean guys especially on the line face a greater risk of injuries from over extension, and getting tangled etc. if you lose the bend in your legs/arms even for a second and get locked up with a guy it’s a huge hazard. If that happens to a no neck thumper built like stove they can try to muscle through it, might lose the battle but not nearly the injury risk. Getting doubled and chipped frequently as an old long tall lean pass rusher is extremely wearing. Previously we used versatile guys like biggie, stove, ba, kongbo etc to put wj in a position to excel. Two of those guys are long gone and the wheels have fallen off the other 2. We have new versatile guys stepping up like Nichols, Adams, and woods. But they are mostly trying to help prop up guys with the wheels fallen off. When they aren’t watching a clunker take their reps. Imagine if they got rourke. I could never safely listen to tsn again. If Wilson gets 1k, and if Castillo keeps it up they have the best shot imo. Brady might not even win west moc, mcinnis likely does at this rate. Which honestly I’d be ok with at this rate. He’s been dynamite.
  12. I’m hopeful he can come back and regain his former level of play. Hard to say if he misses a year. But even then at 85% he’d still be a big upgrade and we don’t need him to play a crazy amount of reps between 30/40 fronts, with woods fox and adams as well
  13. If any thing browns greatest attribute has been his toughness and ability to grow through adversity. Being fast at getting rid of the ball, and good escapability helps the ol a lot too. I have no doubt in my mind that brown would’ve been much better than zach for the first 6-7 games. To the point we probably have 2 more wins just with that change. Brown is going up, zach has no place to go but down. Aside from this year, which is on the verge of being a total loss, the upside for next year and going forward is gigantic. Especially when you consider he’s about 270k-300k cheaper per year. That’s picket + barlow and brown vs zach. That combination would make us much better than 2 more wins.
  14. The wear and tear is far worse on screen passes than runs imo. Instead of dieseling behind a pile it’s two guys with a head of speed going at each other. they’ve been mixing in a 2 back set sparingly this year, but they never use the misdirection so it doesn’t create much. Especially with the health of our wrs a 2 back set, and more running with split touches is needed. I worry about the usage of Brady in general. We go long stretches where he isn’t carrying the ball then pound him into the dirt on a drive. More steady touches would be better. pretty widely accepted use of the term these days. It’s not considered a serious pejorative by any means.
  15. The entire point of the cc and instant replay in sports is to get the call right. No other league I know of uses it to protect the refs on the field instead of the integrity of the game. Fire Ambrose, fix the league.
  16. Iirc bonds doesn’t count as he played pro ball already. Woods doesn’t have the stats but has had the impact. Adams would get the nod over him on D for sure. Idk about Randolph, played pre season and sat on the pr iirc. Wilson is for sure on track to get it. Bonds has been better imo but doesn’t count and not many would give him the nod.
  17. Could be, and that’d make sense. Just need buck to smarten up now.
  18. That may well have been the best execution of a game manager role he’s ever had.
  19. He was struggling I mean it’s not even a question. He was making really bad decisions forcing shots into double and triple cover. He was throwing wobbly inaccurate passes leaving guys diving and reaching back trying to make catches. This isn’t new either, it goes back to last year. He threw pick 6s in 3 straight games last year. The inexperience at wr has been an issue, but it hasn’t been the only or biggest issue. Dalton played 3 games this year. ol play has been the biggest issue in the O This year. Then play call. Then qb play and wrs play have been equal.
  20. To be fair that is exactly what the knock that has been on guys like mbt, Nichols, trevor Harris and more. Driving the field and not producing tds in the red zone is a major issue. Yards don’t win games tds do. Our offensive out put being based around kicking 6 fgs a game isn’t sustainable. zach has played by far his best football the last two games. He did throw some stretch the field balls and throw them well. His passes were much cleaner and you could see it in the ease of catches WRs made. I don’t put the remaining issues with our offence on zach at all though. I put it squarely on buck. He hasn’t been consistently running the ball out side of the end of the game. His use of strevy has been poor. The red zone play calls are awful, our hot read / play design hasn’t been to throw to the end zone at all. The behind the line screen is a valuable play, but it’s not sustainable. It’s a good way to get wrs hurt too. It’s gotta be a feature of the offence not the bread and butter. Buck has always struggled with balancing btl/screens. The old jet motion play action roll out screen is soo well prepared for the targets lose yards and get killed most every time. With the improved line play, especially if we get rid of kola, zach is reasonable to play this year. Dru would’ve still been the smart move to keep, but especially with the qbing in the league zach is a guy you can win with this year. Took a long time for him to get healthy and ready but he’s there now.
  21. Imagine a future with a dl rotation of wj woods Adams lawson fox Habba garbutt and Hubert? Un freaking stoppable. You got Hubert who could play some inside, Adams who can play inside and out woods and fox can both play edge in a 30 front too. That with Cole back, jones and Kyrie? Maybe mos has a kink for his accent like he does for military uniforms…
  22. He was basically doing the same as gray did in our jumbo set. Which makes sense in terms of fit. He looked a lot better than he did in pre season too where he played rt. I really like Wallace, and I think he will start for us before too long. But I think his current use age is good for his development. case is more quick but lacking a top gear, smith is pretty quick and has an elite top gear. I see case more hesitant but smith had some hesitancy too. Both catch the ball and mostly go north though case does play for the edge if he sees it. We ran a lot of 30 front with biggie spying on passing downs. We got pressure and a sack once with Jake on the field in a 40. Seemed like his lowest rep game in a long time.
  23. Yep that also extends to ba as well. We ran a lot of 2 deep S looks, and basically didn’t have to make tackles up the middle all day. Ba wasn’t just running down hill trying to hit guys, and also didn’t have to play a deep middle. We were able to run a lot of quarter and 3 deep with him off to either side. Jy has made some great adjustments to our D and gotten the most out of our dbs.
  24. It was. Part of that is bc just not running the ball, but the biggest is how we deployed him. I can count on one hand how many times he blitzed with fingers to spare. He spied vaj a lot and even his sack came on a shallow spy. Even though it was a half sack at best where he failed to wrap and Adams finished the play.
  25. He said they do prep for it and that the kick was at the edge of whytes range and into a light breeze so they suspected it. He also did kr and played offence in college/hs. And it was mcinnis he was up against for the ball. Big time fight inside that guy. The First Lady of Winnipeg.
