Needs for next year
Honestly though... defence was not the issue. Winnipeg’s major area of concern is with the passing game. Try and maintain what we had elsewhere and improve the passing game and we will be fine. I don’t see us getting our hands on a better combo than we already have so we need to focus heavily on upgrading our receiving core.

Needs for next year
I would imagine there will be plenty of receivers on the market this offseason. Calgary has recently signed Chris Matthews and Markeeth Ambles has really come into his own. I haven't seen Calgary's free agent list but no doubt they are going to have to let a couple receivers go. We just need one of them.

That's gonna help.. But we need an elite import slotback as well..

Needs for next year
I would imagine that if Loffler leaves town that we might change our ratio. We could look at starting a Canadian on the defensive line instead. Depends I guess on what we pick up with our 3rd and 6th overall picks.

In regards to Weston Dressler and Moe Leggett. It’s just that father time is undefeated.

Game Day Thread- Week Twenty Three, WESTERN FINAL: Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Calgary Stampeders November 18th, 2018
If somebody like Reilly is available you go after him. But ultimately we have to stick with what we have at qb. Either Nichols or Steveler. This team has a bright future with the new leagues coming in. The cfl will weight more heavily towards Canadian talent and Winnipeg leads the league in this area and will only get better with two first round picks including 3rd overall.

Game Day Thread- Week Twenty Two, Western Semi-Final: Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Saskatchewan Riders November 11th, 2018
According to Bob Irving Kembrell Tompkins is out and Charles Nelson is in. I don't think it's injury related. Charles Nelson looked really promising in the Edmonton game. More upside and can improve the kick return game immediately. I still see Thompkins as an option next year if Dressler retires but at 30 perhaps he needed to show more than he did. I'm a believer that in a post-AAF world the CFL will have to stick with Import players for longer and let them develop rather than having the constant turnstile of imports coming in and going out.

They should have just given nods to the entire bombers offensive line.

Around the League: 2018 Season
https://www.cfl.ca/2018/11/02/players-say-eighth-annual-tsn-poll/ Several bombers made the list this year. Adam Bighill hardest hitter in the league and one of the toughest guys in the league. Was very happy to see Suhk Chung was the highest ranking offensive lineman for the nastiest player in the league. Gotta get this guy re-signed. Interesting read.

Next Game vs Calgary Here
Agreed. I think it has to do with missing those games early in the year and playing with a brace and likely a still injured knee has affected his confidence. Thankfully, he's looked better lately. Mixing in Streveler as much as we have and the run game has also worked against Nichols posting a 300 yard passing game. In other news. Masoli has posted a worse record than Nichols and plenty of 300 yard passing games. Same with Mike Reilly.

Riders @ Stampeders
Even if he is good enough nfl teams aren’t looking for 29 year old undrafted free agents. If he was setting records maybe they would be more interest. I don’t see him as the type of guy who would be offered any significant bonus money in the nfl. They would look at him as a training camp arm.

Riders @ Stampeders
Yeah.. One week into the 10 week AAF season he would be free to sign there. Don't see any CFL qb capable of making 450k all but guarenteed in the cfl going to the aaf to see how well they compete in the american game versus a plethora of former NFL and college stars.

Bombers sign Geoff Gray to a 3 year deal
Hopefully he gets replaced by Jamel Lyles next season.

Manitoba Moose
He's the kind of guy who may really benefit from the NHL expanding into Seattle.

Bombers sign Geoff Gray to a 3 year deal
I believe when we signed him he had a year remaining. It makes sense that he signed an extension at that time which made it so that he would be paid like a starter in 2017 and he accepted the 2018 year in exchange for that. It's possible that it could be a different situation now that we are competing with other teams for his services. I hope im wrong but just saying.

I have to say I agree with you. We are far better at drafting and developing Canadian offensive lineman than scouting and developing "beast mode" middle linebackers. Having said that I'd greatly prefer to trade Neufeld in the offseason and re-sign Chung to a long term deal. But if we did lose him we'd be fine. We would just draft another offensive lineman with our pick or BC's. We are already in a position where there aren't really jobs open for Canadians on the offensive line or receiving core and it's hard to see us using either of our first round picks at those positions unless Chung moves on. The Canadian talent on this team is as good as i've seen it since i started following this team in 1989. Having said all this Chung is still high priority. But if he comes back we are probably in a situation where we are drafting heavily on defense or we draft another guy who's going to the NFL for a year or two. It's an embarrassment of riches.

It’s hard to say without knowing his personal situation. Coaching is also a factor. Players like to play for coach O’Shea. Harris has his daughter in Winnipeg. In the case of Demski I think it had as much to do with the role he would have in Winnipeg’s offence than anything.
