  1. Man BC is foolish!
  2. But eventually you need a gm who you’re comfortable putting out there. The head coach will always do more media than the gm but Kyle Walters still faces the media semi-regularly. It would really concern me if Atlantic Canada brings in Tillman to shape their franchise. In Atlantic Canada with an expansion team he will get an abnormal amount of attention during the first season. At first it will just be him before coaches are hired. And there will be an expansion draft ect.
  3. I was wondering more if Hamilton simply didn't want to have him as the face of the franchise. I'm going to be somewhat disappointed if he's the face of the Halifax team. Way to introduce a potential negative into something that should be wholly positive. Tillman was supposed be just behind the scene in Hamilton but then when Austin left he kind of came to the forefront.
  4. He gets paid good money in the CFL. Its hard to get figures on what a rookie defensive co-ordinator would make in the NFL but I don't think it would be a pay increase. I view him as a control freak who would rather run his own show and be in charge then take orders as a defensive co-ordinator in the NFL. But I was thinking that a more realistic situation would be him turning down a job as a defensive line coach. Don't think Millanovich would have left the CFL either had he not been working for a mickey mouse organization with writing on the wall that he was going to be fired.
  5. I can’t imagine he would get serious consideration for a head coaching job and I don’t think he would accept a job as an assistant coach.
  6. They will have plenty of football ops cap space when Chris Jones gets hired by an NFL team http://www.3downnation.com/2018/12/31/riders-chris-jones-candidate-nfl-job-report/
  7. Sounds like a guy who would be well suited to our current offensive scheme.
  8. The part Rider Prider is missing here is that the Riders won a lot of close games this season and it inflated their record. Won't hold long term. I wouldn't consider Zach Collares play as having been that of starting qb. Seems like all the media coverage out of Saskatchewan is that they need to do a better of finding qaurterbacks. And whether or not the hit on Zach was properly punished by the league Zach is the most injury prone qb in the league and wouldn't have played in the playoffs even if a suspension had been handed out. The no call on Jackson Jeffcoat again wasn't a game changer. They would have still been looking at an extremely low percentage hail mary had the play been penalized. Dwelling on injuries and reffing is a losers game.

  10. The cfl can have a better bye week schedule once Halifax comes in if that happens. It’s nice in the nfl the way they get all the bye weeks taken care of I think after week 14 and then everyone plays the last few weeks. It’s great for fantasy playoffs lol
  11. Yeah but when you have one at the end and the beginning you have a massive stretch of 17 games with only one game breaking it up. It will be nice though to have an extra prep week before the playoffs though. Let’s hope it’s a two week break nah mean?
  12. Week 2 bye and week 21 bye is simply unfair. You don't need a bye after the first game because you're not warn down yet. The team basically has one beneficial bye during the season.
  13. I'm on the fence about Nichols. I'm not a big supporter but by no means is he not still a massive upgrade over a Drew Willy type guy. At least he makes conservative decisions and gives the team a chance to win. He had one tough stretch there but pulled through and posted a bunch of wins down the stretch including a playoff win. With Bo likely heading to the NFL we end up having the 2nd best starter in the West this season and the best up and comer with upside in Streveler. To me a lot will depend on how much Nichols can rehab his knee in the offseason. If he can come in 100% with his 2017 level of mobility there's a lot of hope he can have a better season than 2018. But we gotta keep having a role for Steveler game in and game out. Just because we start the season with Nichols doesn't mean Streveler doesn't take over at some point. Lets see how he looks in training camp when coming back with a year of experience.
  14. Sad story for the guy. As a bombers fan I don’t see this having a huge effect as this team is loaded at offensive line and will likely add to the depth in this year’s draft.

Yeah.. The real issue is going to be in attracting good young players or players who want to bounce right back to the NFL. If you'd a midseason NFL cut why not make 100k in the AAF and then bounce right back to the NFL. To sign in the CFL you have to miss an nfl season. The real threat to me though is the XFL. It sounds like their long term plans are to play with a wider field like in the CFL. That could really cut into the talent who comes up here because they don't fit the NFL mold but fit well with the wide cfl field. The fast short guys like Brandon Banks.

The compensation was getting the Jets back

I don't see the league going for that especially in an era where half the league is a free agent every year.

That's over the course of 3 years. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24076702/alliance-american-football-players-get-3-year-250k-contracts

Not convinced that start players would make more there. Star players in the CFL get paid pretty good and they can make money off the whole CFL season.. I believe that by the time a CFL player becomes a free agent on Feb 15 they've already lost out on a significant portion of the AAF salary. So they are looking at maybe making 50-70k in the aaf and a star player in the CFL can typically command above 150k.

He was basically the Darian Durant of CFL owners.

I can definitely see where the CFLPA has an issue currently with a cap that is designed around the lowest teams in terms of revenue and no revenue sharing model like in other leagues.

I Id also like to see some form of compensation when you draft a Canadian in the first round and the player leaves as a free-agent after just 2 seasons. Depending on the quality of the guy there could be a compensation system similar to MLB.

Im in favor of whatever gets Bighill back here!

One thing I'd like to see added to the CBA is some form of guaranteed contracts. It would need to be optional and maybe players would have to be in the league for X number of years to qualify. It could be beneficial. Some players would take less money for the guaranteed bucks which could work out well for both player and team. It could also help to keep top QB's from trying the NFL. If you could offer Bo a 4 year deal for 2 million dollars with 70% of that guaranteed a guy like that might be less likely to take the NFL risk.
