I don't know how a team could throw money at Dumba, who's under contract with the Wild through the 2022-23 season. If anything, the Jets will make a play for pending UFA Travis Hamonic, which seems like a no brainer for two reasons: he's from the area and the Jets could use a RH shot defenseman. Bogosian is probably not worth a look.

I think it all starts from the blue line out. Had they not incurred the losses there, I'd hazard a guess they're a stronger team right now. That being said, the system is what it is. It's proven to be effective more often than not but it needs the right pieces and buy in from the players on the ice, the leaders in particular. I think the forwards look lost at times because the blue line for the most part is substandard at best. As a result, their possession stinks, their puck movement stinks, the special teams stink. Until those deficiencies on defense are addressed, the Jets will continue to struggle as a middle-of-the-pack/lower tier team. A coach can only do so much with the talent he is given.

The fact the Jets are even in the hunt right now considering their off-season losses is pretty impressive. Or do you want to blame Maurice for that?
