This feels like something you of all people are literally not allowed to be upset about You (just like me) have been shouting that we need to make room for some younger guys to have opportunities to become impact players and you’ve been talking up one in particular for quite some time This is a move to replace a fairly average player and your guy you’ve been talking up will potentially have a fair shot to fill that spot I’m not mad at all, Garbutt wasn’t anywhere near what we thought he would be

And when I look at what Kyle Walters has done so far I actually do see a plan. Got a vet at MLB, DE, signed a receiver, kick returner/rb.... I mean those were needs he addressed. There's still a whole offseason left to make further tweaks. I know it's tough watching other teams make a huge splash... but those were the teams that had the most holes. How would you like to be the argos watching their whole DL take off?

Jones is a real solid signing...Mitchell is ok...has potential for sure....but has never been a 1000 yard guy and is he a guy that can carry a team when need be? Schoen I am glas is back, but he also is a big unknown right now...who knows how he gonna respond after his injury...so unless we sign another big time guy....we could be conceivably weaker at receiver this yr At Dline,....Yaeh Thomas pisses me off as he is pointless....and just blocks development of a younger Canadian another yr, or takes reps from an import guy who is better.....You can all say maybe osh just gonna use him as a few snaps a game rotation guy ...well if that was the case why bother...save the 100k plus money and just use Samson or a draft pick there on entry level....Lawson shouldnt be sharing reps with or back seat to any national dt we roster...Vaughters is good signing but we also need a legit 3rd end too to make it work and a more than capable 4th guy to rotate....as it stands right now we have neither...Not saying Garbutt or Haba would be world beaters here but as many chime in here....expect a loss for every rookie...which is a load of **** anyway but you get my point....we gonna roster 2 brand new new guys?....no experience?....I do think Person's is gonna rip it up but that still leaves us exposed at end if WJ or Vaughters goes down and from what I see left in the FA pool now there isnt much left that would be better than what we had and likely will cost more...same at DT...Woods and Adams are legit prospects and yr 2 should show more....fly in ointment are they gonna be back seat to Jake and Schmeck again?...there were some pieces to be had that choose to go elsewhere...if we offered comparable money as to where they went....wouldn't they have wanted to come here as we are the desired place??...I dont think we even really gave a legit offer to any of them, so curious as to who and what we are targeting for defence.

Yeah Walters has done some solid signings... You don't use free agency to build your entire team, you use it to fill specific positions and trust your scouting staff to fill in the rest.
  14. 3 points
Three year deal isn't something you see too often these days in the CFL especially for a LB/DB.
  15. 3 points
That's the size of most of the DB's in the league. Guys who cover and block on punts/kickoffs. I expect if he made the roster he'd be the 2nd returner on kickoff.

I’m not sure why people are even remotely worried about our work in free agency … Dillon Mitchell and Jonathan Jones are both real big pieces in my eyes, Schoen brought back is a huge win, almost every valuable OL is still out there for now and we’re doing a decent job of picking up some depth where we need it.

Not at all explosive. To me, I'm bringing in and discarding American rush ends and WIL backers until I find someone special. These are really the two simplest spots on the field. Do the same job everytime, beat your opponent and flow to the ball. If you're not at all explosive, sayonara. Really no need to settle on a handful of guys who are not at all special. If you're waiting on guys to be good you'll be developing them just in time to see them sign with your rivals.

I’m not ready to pencil in wheatfall tbh. Not after what we saw on his return from injury. It was one big game based on one big catch and run. Agudosi did a whole lot more than that. Would for sure be a lot more comfortable knowing dalton would be ready. But I doubt he will be.

Instant fix to our kr position, with a guy in Dillon who can back up/ be the 2nd returner. I love it even more because he’s a bonafide offensive weapon. As a rb and as a pass catcher. I love his style. Short but stocky back who is tough as nails, runs north south, and doesn’t let tacklers square up. Creates a lot of bounce off tackler plays and minimizes wear. He’s not quick like blink (no one is) but he’s a great balance of break away speed and acceleration. Very smooth runner who makes it look easy. Now, we have to use him right. We’ve not done a good job of using dis/multiple backs in ages. We’ve got to fix that but I love what this builds towards. Also reduces the need for the last imp wr to be top notch. I feel like the longer we wait the more likely it is we go with a familiar guy like lapo. Who has effectively ran a 2 back offence with out starving his rb1, and has familiarity with zach. That’s an odd one. Maybe Kramdi can play some s? Would we be trying to move stubblefield to corner or double shift holm to corner and him to half?

I read ford got 230 k lol. Hurts to lose. But can't afford to pay him that. Especially with how good we have been recruiting secondary pieces
  28. 3 points
I can't see it here. I reckon we re-sign every free agent who takes our offer ( our modus operandi being one of offering the player what we're willing to spend at their position, and if they want to try and do better we will be sorry to part but wish them well ). Then we shop at the spare parts store for good players who couldn't find a home. (Like Grant and Bailey last year). If Hatcher is one of these, we may be in for him. Then we go try to pull more stars out of our magic bag of them. (Stiggers, Holley, Brinkman, Polk types)
  29. 3 points
Hubert is gone But Wallace...MCI...Clercius and Samson is a solid 2nd yr group I hope Samson pushes one or both of zThomas/Schmeck right off the roster...we only need 2 cnd DT on roster...replace one with skilled position guy on offence or defence who can have a key role on teams as well

Hervey makes me laugh. Won't over pay on a receiver but goes absolutely nuts on a DB.

Yes. They prob go Kelly at safety. Perhaps that’s the way you get to 8. Unless they sign an OL, right now it’s looking like Wallace or an American starting. Is Wallace ready? I dunno. Couldn’t you designate a Willie Jefferson Or any guy who has been here 3 seasons now as a nationalized and go 7 actual Canadian and 1 nationalized one. Maybe we use that rule this year?

All Dunk said is that multiple teams are making pitches to Lawler. Of course they are, it’s the legal tampering period.
  37. 2 points
Bombers can still match any offers Kenny will get 2 days before FA. But I would think he's good as gone. I would think Buck Pierce would want him in BC.
  38. 2 points
I'm sure I'll get crapped on for this but I feel like Kenny makes a lot of great catches but doesn't get open very well. Or maybe Zach just always throws his way whether he is covered or not...I don't know.

After signing Logan I'm fully expecting Lawler to be gone. It really looks like we're going in another direction with our offense. And quite frankly - I'm pretty excited.

Bless, Diontae Williams & Amari Henderson are both no longer Riders. There’ll be a new boundary CB, could not possibly have been worse than those two.
  41. 2 points
Sounds like we’re in on Reggie Stubblefield with Hamilton, Calgary and Edmonton
  42. 2 points
Part of me just thinks they’re feeling the pinch. They’ve got some big price tags. Rourke, McInnis, Betts are a massive chunk of change. That being said, maybe they do go for Lawler. I honestly wouldn’t mind Hatcher, he’s a dawg. I feel like he’s got Calgary or Toronto written all over him though for some reason.
  43. 2 points
In a perfect world, Sampson comes into camp, gets a shot and becomes the backup to Lawson. Reality is he ends up on the PR and we're all bitching about Jake getting more reps than Lawson.
  44. 2 points
I don’t think Samson will get much of any chance. Lawson, plus we are married to Thomas and schmekel. He should get a good shot to be the back up but that’s not how we roll. mci big Kev and Wallace are exiting for sure.
  45. Sky's the limit for MCI. Just needs the right tutelage ...and maybe an OC
  46. 2 points
Parker should be our SAM...but he easily can be plucked into hb or corner He's our best tackling DB..I'd go as far to say defender...and closes on a play in a blink of eye Griffin too...he would be a hell of a SAM...someone here said all Kramdi does is make plays...if anyone should have that said about them it was Griffin..Full time use of Griffin and Parker with Nichols and Bonds and Holm who I'd rather see at safety and Ford will be a distant memory..and not missed. I concerned about Dline now seeing as the few impact guys available are gone...and we already know JT will take reps ahead of Woods and Adams or any other rookie we bring in sadly...along with too much Schmeck It would be just like us to go out and pick up Lanier now for money that could have been better spent Not sure what Walters is doing...or if he has a big more grand plan...but Pickens are getting slim

Not surprised how long do you give Lofton? Hardrick was instantly better when he slid out to tackle. Lofton is going into his 3rd year as a starter. He was still badly green for the first half of last year. While he got better, he hasn’t flashed being more than a replacement level starting tackle in the cfl. I think Lofton is better than average at G though. Id like to see Lofton slide inside (assuming Dobson leaves) and Randolph go in at RT. Otherwise, if Wallace takes the step forward he flashed last year, him in place of Dobson would be good. We need a few more imp T guys that can push Randolph though. Couture back would be fantastic. But I’m even less hopeful that happens. But Bryant neuf couture Lofton randolph with Wallace/eli as back ups would be good.

Is there a betting site where I can lay down a bet on Tyrell Ford being cut by Feb 1 next year? Bombers effectively hid him at field corner. Made some nice plays on the ball, one of the best athletes out there for sure. Still a lot of struggles with stopping and locking to read what's happening. He's a major vulnerability if he's playing any position other than field corner IMO.

Lofton is a big meh to me.
