yup. I don't get why MBT gets no respect around here. Dude delivers.

speaking of running QBs, Tracy Ham was one of the most complete guys I've ever seen play. He could kill you with his legs or his arm and he was way more consistent than guys like Dunigan and Allen were. Basically a QB designed for the CFL, not a glorified running back. I think Ham is a guy we don't talk about enough when talking about the all-time greats -- he's not a Flutie or Moon but fits real nice in the tier underneath those guys.

Not sure why we went away from him....was very good and had high upside....word ws he hit a rookie wall....pfffft to that.....that's a lame excuse reasoning and never like when I see that comment in press.....you got a good one there

I think Maas did a great job rolling out Davis Alexander too. So glad that Maas beat out Mace for COTY. once upon a time the dude was just a jug-eared gatorade destroyer, but now he's the guy who beat us in the Grey Cup with Cody freakin Fajardo. Bragging rights earned.

he deserves the look. That said he’s gonna be 27 before camp next year and has 1 year starting as a pro, while his college time was at a low level. Hes gotta make a really calculated decision on his football career this off season. Dee Alford had a lower level college career,(still higher than ford) and is 27. But he’s played 44 nfl games over 3 years. Ford should be very particular with nfl interest. Guys like stiggers and Alford got good chances. Ford shouldn’t consider any thing that doesn’t come with guaranteed money up front. Some one will likely give him a fat 3 year deal this off season if he wants it. Probably in the 180-200k range a year. And with his passport he can easily get a contract after he turns 30. In order for him to make 700k+ in the nfl some ones gonna have to give him a real shot. No doubt lots of teams will give camp invites. But taking a no cash camp invite, getting cut or even worse getting hurt then trying to come back mid season with out camp etc will leave him in a bad spot. Kongbo signed a couple good deals but only managed to cash like 300k plus pr money. The broncos coaching staff loved him too. He was lucky that he played a premium position and B.C. was handing out money like drunken sailors. Db isn’t paid like de/dl. If this off season goes poorly for him he stands to lose a life changing amount of money.

I think it would be insane to think they haven't started the interview process by now.

For what it's worth they announced JY as DC and Miller as STC in early January last season.

I wish I could tell you all but I signed an NDA.

Have to give Fajardo credit, he just completed his 8th season in the CFL, not many dual threat QB's are still effective running the ball after that length of time.

At this point I expect the announcement in the new year for oc. Small chance some thing happens this week, but we could be the last team to finalize the cos.

wow Nealon Greene played 18 years ago and we're still talking about him. That's pretty amazing.

Bronco's doing the Giants wide swath look at anyone who had a press clipping or highlight Not sure what they see/saw in Ajou tho.....Guess he getting the KSB look based on visuals And with Ford....he not in a good spot age/experience/pedigree wise....also position ......you know how many Ford's are kicking around there...younger....experienced in American ball....he needs to seriously look for the perfect situatuion...and even then....he has huge odds

It seems with the nfl they look more at the stats like 40 time bench press, size etc than performance on a cfl team. There are lots of cfl lbs that are better than ayers and recievers better than ajou
  19. 1 point
Agreed. Especially compared to what he had in Saskatchewan. Receivers were ok, but that OL was terrible.

You lost me at Dunigan. Hey everyone has a right to their opinion but Ham was not a better Qb than Dunigan .....
  21. 1 point
The dude's game has changed a bunch in his time as a starter tho -- he used to be at his best running around, scrambling, making DLs look silly with that spin move and making big hay on broken plays. nowadays he's not nearly as zippy as he once was, he plays much more controlled with quick throws from the pocket. Looks like mileage and maturity (and the Maas coaching) has been accumulating.
  22. 1 point
I'd say he's just an instinctual player. Make him think it all falls apart, but when he is just reacting it's ok. Guess that's the debate whether it's mental toughness or mental ability.

Broken plays, and extremely fast timing plays. Hes really effective at one step drop timing routes. I don’t think his issue is actually football iq, It comes of to me more as being mentally soft. He doesn’t have that mental toughness that Dru brown or zach does. If he went through what either did he’d break 10 times over. If you tell him he can’t make a throw enough times, he won’t be able to. Public opinion has a huge sway on his confidence as a player as well. Which isn’t good.
  24. 1 point
He is a guy you are better off not even trying to pressure cause his instinct is just use his legs and try and buy time and something will present itself. You just play contain him him though he will go right into trouble.

In those cases the decisions were probably made earlier and the announcements were delayed to coincide with season ticket sales. Maybe the same thing happens again. They intended to interview Macsymic, whether that happened or not before he took the Elks job is unknown.
  26. 1 point
kinda explains him to a tee actually....broken plays.....chicken with head off running around lunacy.....dumb decisions that panned out....designed run calls....tha have been his bread and butter, and have worked....at times....but a consistent cerbral QB to run an offence....look for...see....AND take advantage of a defense's weakness....he's not that guy
  27. 1 point
Fajardo is a guy who is good at broken plays. He's too stupid to quit so sometimes pulls a rabbit out of his hat. Running a real offense though? He isn't good.
  28. 1 point
Good point. Been really healthy for a guy who’s a dual threat. Hes kind of in the Matt nichols tier between 2nd and top rank QBs. He’s not any one’s first pick for starting qb. But he does enough to give his team a chance. The team that gets him to be a back up will be pretty happy. Not wrong. 74 starts in 124 games. Basically 3 years as a back up, followed by 5 straight as a starter. I think that’s pretty normal for cfl QBs though. Most guys don’t become starters in year 2.

That’s a good question. I wish I might know for a fact, but I suspect that it is just because. I mean that’s how we roll with every thing from injuries to roster changes. Top secret for the point of being top secret. I agree that it just wouldn’t make sense to have this process drag into the new year only to announce an in house hire. But we also often make befuddling decisions like that. Logically, the only thing I can see is if they want the in house hire but want and outside hire to be an assistant to support and guide them in the job. Like hall has done for Jy. Kevin and Marty would really benefit from that type of support. I’d honestly be good with having Marty and Kevin work together then get a vet oc on the way down in their career to be qb coach and support both. That being bourgoin as the pass game co, Marty the run game co, where Bourgoin likely calls the plays from the booth and Marty is on the side line with said qb coach. Maybe Khari.
  30. 1 point
Why do they keep the interview process so secret? With the passage of time I kinda doubt it's going to be an inside hire.

Some players need to be shown the door come free agency. Like, "We've moved on. Thanks again but please close the door when you leave". Then get aggressive with the money we spend on CFL free agents. We know there's a handful of them as it's been discussed before.

i really don't care about other teams. I care about the Bombers. Am I supposed to be impressed by this? That Dinwiddie followed O'Shea's roster decisions by playing more Canadians than he could have? Not really. I didn't see a Canadian starter on the Argos even remotely close to the ineffectiveness of Jake Thomas. The Argos roster of Canadians were better than ours. It gave them flexibility. Our starting Canadians (in certain positions) hurt us.

The difference is Greene could not make most of the throws, and Fajardo can only make some of the throws.

Interesting fact about Edmonton last year... They had the #1 offense by points per game, yards per game and rushing yards per game and yards per carry with MBT starting. They dropped to 8th in points, yards and yards per carry when Ford started. I'm quite happy they've gone "all-in" on Ford. Good luck to them on their quest to finish higher than 4th in the division with him.
  37. 1 point
Well, if they go all in on Tre Ford they'll probably win aprox. 50% of their games, Bombers would get the same return if they committed to Strev.

I'd like that but he's not a pending FA this off-season. BLM might be the present starter in Hamilton but not the future so I imagine the ticats will try to extend Powell before 2026.
