Yeah based on where the ball was I think he got the yardage, but there was 0 chance they were going to over turn that. Tsn doesn't have the camera angles to make it definitive. How about not putting yourself 3rd and 17 instead.

The league really needs to stop trying to tweak the rules every offseason and focus more on improving the officiating on the rules they do have already. It's quite frankly a joke how incompetent the referees are in the cfl.

O'Shea had a good idea. He suggested the league should start having a marker on the sideline to highlight where the first down mark is. It could be a coloured strip they could place right at the sideline. It's something they could at least try in preseason games and fine tune the process.

if Hart failed showing anything more than Mitchell...then we have a deficient PR Yup....sad PR...totally have some pointless carries and zero depth/options in some areas...and too much in another that showed nothing in their chances

there are some PED's that really offer no health risk....but are banned none the less....the league just needs to schedule things so there no 4 day turn arounds...even with odd number of teams no real rrason for it...if you have to bump up season a week or 2....big deal

I was actually saying during the (very long) review that they could spot this 2 yards short of a 1st or half a yard beyond it and I would not credibly be able to say they were definitively wrong.

Are people complaining about the reffing again? Really? After that dreadful performance by the Bombers? Give that argument a rest.

Yeah. I get why the bombers challenged it. And it was a bad spot. But we just don’t have the tools to make an educated change like that in the cfl. The cfls challenge system hasn’t really evolved since it was first put in. The nfl has crazy angle and the ability to pick exactly the angle they need to see. They can’t even get the td sneak play right, how could they ever get a call like that right? The need for infrastructure to support the challenge system is dire. We don’t even have a good angle square to the goal line from the end zones. For spots, I think the future is the chip in the ball. But short of that they need to do some thing. Rapid stills, drones programmed to keep in view the ball and the yard marker, that stays square to the side line, a freaking frame by frame camera some thing. The worst part of this game isn’t even the difference in a win or loss for us or the argos. It isn’t even the perception of ineptitude of the league officiating. It’s that all the fans watched this should be thrilling end only to see the worst of what the league has to deal with. All year every spot in every single game is a game of plus or minus 1.5 yards. A few outlier times I’ve seen 2 plus yard errors. And I’m not talking forward progress or difference between knee and elbow. Im talking maximum forward progress spot plus 2 and times and the bottom of the feet minus a yard and a half. Apathy is the greatest threat to the league. And the greatest force behind apathy towards the league, is our reffing, discipline, and command centre.

The PR increases by 5 people for a 30 day window and then reduces by 5, at the club's option of when they choose that window to be open, between Sept.5 and November.8th. If we opened our window a few days after the NFL cuts that 30 days expiry would coincide with the cuts we saw the other day. The PR does expire at season's end but the 30 day expanded PR window can end anytime from Oct. 4 - Nov. 8 and if clubs have used the expanded PR, like we do every year, then they must reduce numbers at the time the 30 day window expires. PRs go from 12 to 17 players with an extra NAT necessary in those 5 if the club already has bare minimum NATs on the PR. It's all on CFLdb.

I’d say he’s a good qb, but bad at being professional. I think he’s doing what is in his best personal interest right now. I fully believe he loves bc as a market, it’s beautiful, low pressure, the owner is happy to spend and brings in big concerts, and till Rourke he’s had the run of the market. I think he believes some where deep down that he can some how push out rourke, which is what he wants most. So he’s doing his best to be radio silent only surfacing to toe the line. As such, I bet he’s thrilled to see rourke struggle and get a shot again. Would he be happy to sit on the bench next year for his full salary in B.C.? I think he might. But it won’t happen

Just so I'm clear for tonight...the Nationalized American rule (the 7 CDNs + 1 fake Canadian)? Or the Designated Nationalized American rule (the now-25 snaps one)?
  23. Some transactions from today. I am thinking Griffin and Feltmate will be added to the active roster. McGroarty got his way and out of Winnipeg, sure he wants to play in the NHL but he's not ready it was never about a guaranteed spot on the roster. Penguins were never bringing him to Winnipeg whether to play or sit in the press box.

Watched the Flame Oiler game over the weekend and saw Justin Kirkland score his first NHL goal. The pure joy on his face when they scanned him on the bench afterwards was great to see especially in what that young man has endured to get to the big leagues

That is a great point. We don't need more nuisance to the situation, we need to be able to execute the basic stuff with rule enforcement. It's basic football stuff that is failing in terms of calls.
  28. 1 point
Yeah, unless Mitchell had unknown experience in the marines and hart came up with some toxic big guy nfl vibes doesn’t make a lot of sense. Im hoping that the mid season move to younger guys (largely facilitated by injuries) will bring about the much needed change for next year. That plus hopefully we win and a few guys like Jake hang em up.

I haven't rewatched it on tv, but from where I was sitting in the stands, it seemed pretty clear that the guy had Collaros wrapped up and then grabbed the back of his collar to bring him down on the sack. I was shocked at the time that a horse collar wasn't called. As the play went down and the game ended, it was reminiscent of the non-PI call on the pick 6 that basically ended the last game against Toronto.

Dobson had many OLE moments throughout the game. He was constantly being pushed back into the pocket. Not trying to absolve Kola, but Dobson was straight up losing his man on man blocking assignments.

This has been a huge problem this year. ZC has no where to step up.
  35. I already hate this bye week.
  36. 1 point
Dobson had the one big OLE! Moment for sure but I didn't notice a ton of issues. Meanwhile kolankowski... tons of times when collaros wants to step up in the pocket there's nowhere to go because our centre is getting pushed back and it all breaks down.
  37. I don't think the PR reduces in size, but it terminates with the regular season. A bunch of teams are pruning the PR, so I assume it's prep for year end. Edmonton cutting guys who aren't gonna play etc. I wonder if any one cut will be of interest/use. I suspect we will only add guys if it looks like we will not have some one for the play offs. Hope person gets a look and hubert gets one more. Cant believe we kept mitchell all year. Plus both Case and Smith. Man the PR is ugly. Would be better if the IR was jam packed all year, but still just ugly not turning over spots more when we've starved for positional depth at many times this year.
  38. Yeah Hornibrook was one of the guys we had on our neg list so they obviously saw something in him at one point. I'd think he get another look next season with a full camp to show what he's got.
