  4. huzzah! Stan The Boy Bryant!
  5. Yeah good deal for both sides. His cap hit goes from $310k to $285k but his actual take home pay goes up because he gets a big signing bonus which gets taxed way less. Win-Win!
  6. That’s pretty awesome. Looks like 25k off the cap plus however they may have worked that bonus with being against the bonus cap and this year/last year.

  8. Kenny Lawler restructures contract with Winnipeg Blue Bombers By John Hodge - January 16, 2024 Photo: Reuben Polansky/3DownNation. All rights reserved. Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ receiver Kenny Lawler has restructured his contract for the 2024 season, per league sources. The six-foot-two, 199-pound target received a $150,000 signing bonus to ink his new deal, which includes $115,000 in base salary, a $13,800 housing bonus, and a $7,200 travel bonus. In total, Lawler will earn $285,000 in hard money this year. The 29-year-old was originally slated to earn $310,000 in 2024, though he’s expected to net more on his new deal as signing bonuses are taxed at a lower rate for American players. He had a $125,000 off-season roster bonus due on Monday, Jan. 15, which led to his deal being renegotiated.
  9. hope this is a small domino that triggers another announcement soon... because I'm tired of every other fan base getting some good news lately!

Exactly how I felt when I read that Arland Bruce IV is a CFL player
  19. I don’t think it can be disputed anymore that the better defensive team wins 99% of the time. You look at this year’s Eagles, they started 10-0 but everyone knew they couldn’t defend, and it would eventually bite them. They got exposed vs San Fran, and then they fell apart. As it’s well known here too, an interior DL is wildly underrated to a good D. You can have the best DE in the world, and it won’t matter if your interior guys aren’t doing their thing properly.

Plus MBTs dead ancestors used to throw the old pigskin around in the cornfields with Curly Gittens so gotta take that in to account here. Likely no relation but still.

Good trade for both teams, good on them!

I think the closest comparison to Demski is Begelton, both are tough, elusive and good at accumulating YAC.
  23. 2 points
Gittens isn't wolli though. He's a younger Demski with IMO a higher ceiling. Solid move by Jones.

We just came through a season where our highest paid receiver was (by and large) not a factor in our 16-2 record. And he had a lingering hip injury. And his salary was comparable to the guy we got for him. Makes sense from our perspective. With Ceresna in, I suppose this means that either or both of Oakman or Hendrix won't be back. I wish KGJ a prosperous reunion with MBT.

I was in jest with the ingrate comment. Brady’s a good dude. Silly twitter post for sure though.

Does Jesse Lumsden have any kids who play football? Watched his dad play, watched him play, am scared there's a Lumsden 3 out there that's gonna be running counters and traps over my grave.
  29. when the news is regularly as shitty as it is over there, the bar for "good news" is extremely low.....
  30. TBF, no matter what news the 4 stripe fans get, as long as they still have to cheer for that team, how good can the news really be?
  31. Sounds similar to what the Riders did with Harris, not much of a savings but every bit counts.
  32. yeah....sometimes it appears we aren't doing very much AND then Walters springs one us, like the deal with Kenny....A few more cash saving deals will/should net us something big and definitely help the club with fa's

I think Ceresna has more on-field value, if you take age and ant status out of the equation. And TO must be bracing to lose some DL pieces in FA. I think the trade works for both sides.

Brissett had a nice year last season and Nield had a nice stretch of games later in the season.

Gittens was/is no slouch and Jones finally did something right....For value , Elks win this one....Ceressna is an off and on player....looks good on a rush and then disappears....TO is definitely going to have to swing more deals, as their former D coach is going to scalp them...I wonder if we're having a good look at their roster and contemplating a move???
  42. 1 point
I thought the value was interesting as well. Cgjr was disappointing last year. Ceresna is in the top tier of dts in the league. Would I trade woli for him?(if he wasn’t a pending fa) yeah I would. And I love woli. I’d probably trade any of our ni ol Cept Eli maybe Dobson too. I’d trade Kramdi, and any one of our ni defensive guys. I wonder if this is edm being crazy, tor selling high on gittens, or if this is the value right now for top end dts and ni starters. I mean if that’s his value, what would Brady be worth in a trade?
  43. 1 point
Ceresna is a damned find defensive lineman... but geeze not sure I give up a good young Canadian player for him....

woulda loved to have had Ceresna, but I'm sure as **** not giving up Demski to get him....

I've said this for a long time as long as Jerry Jones thinks he is the smartest person in the room and he does the Cowboys will never win anything ever again. He is not the great football mind he thinks he is.
