From Ben's Breakdown on 3downnation: "What makes football more intense than other North American team sports is how few games there are. Extreme emotional highs and lows stem from the fact that a win in the CFL is equivalent to a nine-game winning streak in Major League Baseball, and a loss, a nine-game losing streak. In baseball terms, the Saskatchewan Roughriders closed out their season with 63 straight losses."
  2. I've got some bad news for you...
  3. yeah, that's a nice 1250ish yard / 10 TD pace. I think those are pretty solid numbers for a guy who plays on a team with two other 1000 yard receivers and a feature back who soaks up 15 carries a game. I'm so glad we've got KL for the playoffs.
  4. Kenny Lawler 850 yards 6 TDs in 11 games
  5. Speaking of nuts in a knot…….lots to unpack in that post of yours, and I don’t really wish to derail this thread responding to a personal beef you said you have with me or posters like me, so if you want a full answer check your PM.
  6. TSN loves dirty players. Sanchez has a job on their panel.
  7. Wee wee wee all the way home. (A little something I learned while spending a fortune...ON MY CHILDREN!!!)

On that note, I hate that Awe and Simoni Lawrence are the nominees from their respective teams. I always hate how TSN pumps them up to be these great players when they both have a reputation of being dirty with garbage after the whistle.
  9. I did as well. Playing sports. That was the thing. My 2 kids didn't play hockey as we couldn't afford it at the time but they did play baseball in the spring, football in the fall & basketball in the winter. I also spent big bucks taking my youngest to qb camps in the US. Those were very expensive so i got a job delivering pizza at Panago on weekends in Calgary to afford these camps. We went to Oakland, LA, Seattle, Portland & Boise over the years. Those camps cost a lot of money but happy to deiver all that pizza in order to do it. That was $$ I could have used on myself.

Milt had a good line about it on Twitter...
  11. Having kids affected my retirement income. I couldn't put the money away I would have liked. I certainly could use that money I could have saved being childless today. However, that's a sacrifice I was willing to make & happy that I did. Having children was both a wonderful & humbling experience. Being a father made me grow up knowing I was responsible for two lives & to put a roof over their head, feed, clothe & educate. Yes, I wouldn't change a thing. I think a lot of couples who didn't want kids in their 20's, 30's & 40's end up regretting that decision in their 60's, 70's & 80's. Especially when their partner dies & they're all alone in the world in a Nursing Home. I have a friend who used to say that kids make great pets & that he'd never have kids which he didn't. That was back in the 1990's. I talked to him a few years ago about that & it's one of his biggest regrets. He's now divorced as well.

Having children is so cheap, that you completely change your spending and lifestyle. Then call others weirdos for pointing out that children are expensive.

    I had a chuckle....
  14. I'm not sure that's the case -- based on what I saw during the regular season, he wasn't super good in his short yardage role. Pigrome's performance with the redblacks definitely validated the bombers' decision to cut him when Prukop came available.

Which makes it even more baffling that Oday got a 3 yr extension....as his finger prints are all over that mess in they guys he brought in, as well as the areas he has failed to address going on 3 yrs now. Sure Dickiboi is a lousy HC....But how a GM of a team that has gone from 13-5...to 9-5....and then back to back 6-12 seasons...in which they have lost the last 7 in each of those seasons can escape the knife is just baffling....like WTF....and the fact the Board there made the decision to can the Coach without even consulting him first, but only after they told him he would be retained is even more comical.....What a complete circus there, and good luck having any sort of progress for at least 2 yrs
  16. yes...and no...pretty easy when u can just pin ears back and rush a QB and for most part ignore the run....and take dumb penalties.....I don't think he should be a shoe in for either award in all honesty....Who would have more of a profound effect on his team if he was missing for any time...BO or Howdy Doody?.....BO all the way and then some

No way they give BO both MOP and MOC. They'll use their vote for MOC to justify a vote for MOP. Spread it around because the CFL has the laziest journalists imaginable.

Really happy that Brady got the double nod. He’s a shoe in for moc mop will be interesting. I think Willy will get serious consideration for dpoty as well.
  19. I would bet his refusal of those has more to do with his family's situation (wife mainly) and less to do with waiting for the right situation.

We have to take care of business in the West final and after we do don't care who we play in the GC but an upset in the East final would be delicious. Relevancy here? After the East final what AH has left becomes a moot point would be delicious.

didn't seem like much in games he played....And from what Oullette gives them/brings and that other young Canadian....Having Harris pooch reps would almost be taking a step back
  22. 3 points
ahh yes....If Judge was nominated for that and not that dirtbag Awe I would have liked to see him get it

My guess on CFL award winners is 4/6 to Toronto unfortunately... MOP: Kelly MODP: Betts MOC: Brady OL: Dejon Allen ST: Javon Leake Rookie: Stiggers

fwiw, being that it's a Saturday, I've got no problem with them pushing back the time of the game. Yeah, it's November and it's going to be chilly but whatever... it's not like an hour makes THAT MUCH of a difference. Wear your ice fishing gear and load up on the "anti freeze".... it's going to be a time!

They just changed it again. This morning it said 6:30 CST.
  26. 3 points
Maybe. Knowing MOS and the Bomber organization this is not something that anyone would ever know outside that room though. However, Buck has already turned down 2 HC interviews in the past 2 years that have been confirmed in the media, so either he is extremely comfortable remaining an OC until the perfect situation comes along, or some kind of succession map has been laid out to him that he is completely comfortable with. Either way, Buck has already demonstrated that he is not really willing to jump into a tire fire for a promotion.

This all reeks of ESPN trying to do something they think is fun, but actually fucks over all the fans. I was just reading a quote from one of the Wings coaches complaining about them starting at 8:30. Definitely stupid.
  28. Why do you tie your nuts in a knot over Booch & Mike criticizing the way Osh manages his roster? It just goes on & on & on with you. Like give it a ******* rest already. Do you actually think that somehow you're better than them because you don't question anything the Coach does? I dislike fans like you who point fingers at others because they dare to criticize. It's their take on the Bombers. It doesn't mean Booch, Mike, me or anyone else is a worse fan for questioning roster moves. We're all fans here who love the team. We all have our opinions & from what I've read those guys know a helluva lot more about the Bombers & football than you do. Quit being a snob.
  29. Richie rich over here
  30. Yep, Brown might look a whole lot shakier playing behind the Sask. O-line.

Great question. My answer: Argos suck.
  33. DB being mentored by the best QB in the CFL might help.
  34. I feel like Betts slowed down a bit towards the end of the season. As much as TSN made a big deal out of the plays he was making, I'm hopeful that the voters are a little more objective and see that Brady was consistent all year in what he was doing. I'd say the same with Chad Kelley as he had a few down games where his D bailed him out.
  35. Knowing he's well liked here but how the CFL media has propped him up this year, Betts gets it hands down. And you just know CK has the inside track, barf. What matters most is bring home the Cup where it belongs.

Kelly vs Brady will be interesting.
  37. The secret to success in this league is continuity.....you won't find much if you are constantly in the mode of a wholesale turnover of players....However it is very wise to have talent in the hopper and you won't know that unless you give them a chance to play....Now that brings up a problem because of various factors...allegiance to vets and roster size and restrictions to name a couple...Every coach and team has to deal with it ,and the most successful of the bunch are the one's that know how to walk the line between popularity and necessity...In the end it's all measured in wins and losses and I know where we stand in that department
  38. 2 points
That could very well be. The reason why is unimportant, what's important is that he is not a guy looking to jump at his first opportunity to be a HC.

  40. What tools is he lacking? Height? His arm seems decent enough, he can run a bit.
  41. Dru Brown has been playing behind an A tier o-line, rb, and receivers. I will think that other teams would factor that in when evaluating if he is the "next one". I don't think he has the physical tools that will wow anyone enough to pay him starter salary.
  42. 2 points
Edit - Did not know his wife has cancer Shitty f'ing deal.
  43. Maybe someone in the know could advise, but Kenny L looked like he was dealing with something all year. He was not "engaged" in every game like he was in the past. Seemed his head was not in every game. Either way he is a player and we will need him to step up big time for the run. DB has the look. One of my old coaches used to say you could tell alot about a player by the way they walk.... Dru has a future in this league. Hope it's with us.
  44. I was looking for a way to superimpose Rider logos over the Cleveland stuff but decided it would be far more effort than it is worth.
