A large portion of the deficit spending was due to Covid. Did they overspend on that? Probably. But it's not like they could just do nothing. Even if they hadn't closed work places, most of the rest of the world did Canada's economy would have slowed down - regardless of any approach that our governments took (or didn't take)

I think centrist exists, right wingers the world over are just hellbent on dragging everything further and further right. I care much less about right or left, all I want it a pragmatic government that is able to step outside of their ideology and government based on facts and evidence. It is why I really like Rachel Notley. She put aside the partisan nonsense and governed in the best interest of Alberta rather than along party lines. The complete opposite of the ucp. Dame reason I would rather a federal liberal government than a conservative one despite Trudeau being a complete dope. Cons are all about the party line, liberals are more willing to adapt in the face of evidence.

EVERYBODY needs this. Particularly, anyone who advises, works on, or sets policy. It should be mandatory learning in public school and not just the obligatory virtue signalling type of course. Real in depth and unadulterated right from the grade school level. Generations were destroyed by this policy and the impact needs to be understood, so that the generations that follow don't just see the dirty, drunken Indian on the corner and instead feel a profound sense of guilt, and maybe...just maybe a desire to help this individual. Shameful piece of our shared history that must be taught and understood for reconciliation to truly happen. We don't get there without it. At this point it's worse than racism, it's combatting willful ignorance and widespread apathy along side the racism.

When I grew up I thought residential schools were just where indigenous kids went to school. Your damn right we ( including me ) need to be educated about the truth. A few " wasted resources " now can help correct the past or at least our view of it which can help future generations.

If they didn't spend during covid the economy would have been in the absolute toilet and people would be destitute. Did some people get money that shouldn't have? Absolutely. But it kept people employed and businesses operating and provided a huge bounce back opportunity for the economy. It didn't cause inflation contrary to what the right wing talking points say.

So simplistic. You're ignoring the fact (as always) that it was part of Winnipeg's commitment to implement the 94 recommendations of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission. You may have heard of Winnipeg - it has the largest First Nations population of any Canadian city. Not per capita - total. That you don't see the significance of his ignorance says a lot about you.

Good again...? They got hot late in the season to secure a WC spot after struggling for the better part of two months. They're a slightly above average team with some good top 9 talent but questionable depth, a blue line that is below average, and a top tier netminder. How the off-season shakes out is anyone's guess but a rebuild of sorts isn't out of the realm of possibility. And fans' views or opinions have absolutely no bearing on that. As for this series, they're likely done on Thursday night. Too many injuries and not enough horses.

I would feel honoured if my private sector employer would offer this training to all of us. Reconciliation is the responsibility of every person that breathes the great clean Canadian air.

The idea of centre (to me) is not a point on a line. To use the clock analogy, it would be between 10 and 11 on the left side of noon and between 1 and 2 on the right side. Ideologically, a centrist government maintains public services with appropriate increases in funding based on inflation and gradually moves society forward socially, environmentally and scientifically. A good centrist government is open to change and progress and allocates funding according to long-term, rather than short-term targets. I consider the current Liberal government as pretty central on the spectrum. That they get attacked from both the left (for not changing things more quickly) and the right (woke!) kind of backs that up.

Just for some reference I cross referenced the top names to Dane Brugler's (from the Athletic) full 7 round NFL mock draft and here is where he has the top five players landing: 1. Matthew Bergeron: NFL mock: Round 2, #53 overall 2. Chase Brown: Rd 5, #136 3. Sydney Brown: Rd 4, #104 4. Tavius Robinson: Rd 7, #236 5. Sidy Sow: Rd 5, #146 Robinson might drop out but if he's on the mock there's a good chance he'll sign as an UDFA if he doesn't get drafted... he has the Bears taking Bergeron and Chase Brown
