  1. Doesn't Drew know money goes much further in Regina and there are way more off the field opportunities? Big mistake... šŸ˜‚
  2. Or this: Seriously, though... Love this off-season for the Riders. LOL
  3. Seems his schtick isn't being well received by all Gappers.
  4. Brandon Banks also hates Saskatchewan
  5. "it's believed one other team offered more money than the Redblacks" - Tim Baines lol. Wonder who?
  6. When you're in the spot Ottawa is, you gotta overpay for some guys. Many thought the Bombers did it when they first signed Bryant. This is a solid move by Ottawa that will likely pay dividends moving forward (next few years I mean).
  7. He probably offered even more.
  8. For real, good for him. Can’t fault a guy for getting paid.
  9. Does AC Leonard know how easy it is?
  10. Well, at least Regina is first in something.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel but Stefanson doesn't have much choice at this point. Don't worry about Guillemard's education though, she can just drive by the U of M and then claim that she went there. It's the same thing in her world.

Knowing what we know now about Bobby Hull's off-ice life..... it's tough to say a lot of good things about the man. Having said that, if not for Bobby Hull coming to town, there may not be hockey in YWG today, so everyone should be thankful for that. An absolute legend on the ice.
  13. I'll give Ballsy credit for one thing... he's (unintentionally) made this off-season pretty entertaining. I usually don't laugh at Saskatchewan this much until June.
  14. Not everyone gets excited about hepatitis, I guess.

yup...close to home...and tho a nice have for us...we really dont need him at moment and would have ruined our SMS to try and make it work....we be just fine with Eli..Gray...Neuf and Dobson as our interior guys with Kolo as depth

A little levity for those following the crazy rage farming on ****** carlson...
  17. Kolankowski is the C with Eli backing up.....IF Couture leaves....
  18. 4 points
I think that chance is small. Demski is likely wants to look at the numbers and then circle back to the Bombers with his perceived worth and will likely take less to come back as long as it is close.
  19. 4 points
yup..we prob had a max...but wouldnt go past to ruin other parts of the team and SMS balance...also nice to see the Riders tried...and were given the thanks but no thanks haha'
  20. Yup, Bombers were close apparently but with our current OL, I think that money is better spent elsewhere. Good for him though and better Ottawa than Regina!
  21. Desjarlais will earn $250,500 in the first year of the deal and $266,000 in the second year of the deal plus all-star incentives. He is now the highest-paid offensive lineman in the CFL. Previously, Mark Korte of the Edmonton Elks was the league’s highest-paid offensive lineman with annual earnings of $220,000. That's a lot of coin.

Honestly, this team has a history of being lost. But, I think this is a blip. They found it before, they'll find it again.
  23. cap casualty to maintain other pieces...and smart move by Walters....we showed last yr that we can perform without Couture at center, and this yr will be with Eli who is head and shoulder better than Kolo, and likely will be better than Couture.....we got several good yrs out of him, but need to know who and when with your roster to move on from to keep the more important pieces here Once he gets his groove back...will be the dominant center in the league
  24. 3 points
I hear a lot of people talking about the O Line and omitting Kolankowski....This guy hasn't reached his full potential yet as far as I'm concerned...He was hurt last year but has recovered nicely....As well I'm pretty sure Walters has another O Line guy in the hopper that he's high on....should be a good prospect in the draft

  26. I know they were...but it was a fixed offer and no back and forth...was this is what we can do....you know the organization and guys...and we have good chance of playoff money.....and Ott basically were the dumb dumbs to blow the wad and rape another position on their squad that was more exposed after the fact tho...nobody really saw that, or said that until after the fact you know damn well who...lol.... thats the only spot I would over pay a bit as well at O-line...not sure the makeup of their SMS but at quick glance can be doable there....for us to have done that would likely been a choice...Demski or Desjarlais....and its a quick answer of Demski all day considering what we have at O-line for interior depth, and the fact last year we did pretty damn good once Gray established himself and were evn still using a 6th/7th type oline guy at center....for the most part.... even tho I doubt he would have went back to Sask anyway based on how it went last time...thats one more guy who is off the list as potential help thee who would have been a huge upgrade for them...
  27. 3 points
but really tho...why would Demski want to play in that market...basically anonymously....cause Andrew is there..as opposed to being the toast of his town....highly recognized and in a first rate stadium..organization and atmosphere....and only way I see that happening is if T.O offers stupid money and then they have to cut ways with other important pieces...Gittens is gonna wanna get paid too
  28. 3 points
The RIders already have the most toxic announcer in all of pro sports. They won one FA battle there. lol
  29. 3 points
If I am the Riders I would have paid what it took to get him. They could justify it. We can't though, not with the pre-existing talent. Funny how that works, the Riders have made yet another massive mistake by not getting him under contract, and we probably dodged a bullet by not taking on that contract.
  30. 3 points
Yeah there is just no way in my mind you can justify sinking that much into one guy... the Bombers strength for the last several years has been their depth and the ability to plug and play guys everywhere. you start having salaries that huge you impact your depth and you wind up like the riders bitching and moaning about every starter that gets hurt. Bombers still got one of if not the best offensive lines in the league we will be fine, but man I would have loved to see Desjarlais back here.
  31. Seeing Desjarlais sign with Ottawa originally gave me sad feelings... but then I thought about the quality of interior linemen we currently have (Neufeld, Dobson, Eli, Gray) and it made me feel better... then seeing his salary... my thoughts have now changed to good for him, happy he got his payday... and I'm glad we passed on that amount.
  32. Yes this is not 2015 anymore they have built a great development system at OL
  33. Thata alot of cheddar. Cant blame him.

It seems like the most fickle fans are also the noisiest - and the most ignorant. This three-game slide has been pretty ugly to watch but they're still second in the division and only 3 pts. out of the lead. The Stars on a three-game slide, too. The team is getting an extended - and seemingly much needed - break after tonight's game. That should be a good opportunity to rest up and reset for the final 30 games. Wheeler mentioned the issue just last week: too much standing still. That speaks to a tired team, IMO.

Fajardo vs Michael Ball would be the most entertaining part of the Gappers season

This. Absolutely agree that Kola is underrated around here. I'm not concerned about our OL yet. SB66 will likely start showing his age soon, but aside from that, our OL is really good for awhile yet.
  37. I don't think Dennis is particularly great.... A VERY poor man's Stan The Boy Bryant..... but yes, it would have been an upgrade on that atrocious Sask line.

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson has made changes to her cabinet. She is demoting three ministers who recently announced they will not be running in the next election — Cameron Friesen in finance, Reg Helwer in government services, and Alan Lagimodiere in Indigenous reconciliation. Four backbenchers, all from Winnipeg, are being promoted to cabinet — Obby Khan, Kevin Klein, Janice Morley-Lecomte and James Teitsma. Some ministers are changing portfolios. Cliff Cullen moves from economic development to finance, while Eileen Clarke moves from municipal relations to Indigenous reconciliation. Stefanson said in early January she would shuffle her cabinet, after four ministers announced they would not be running again in the election slated for Oct. 3. Last week, Friesen announced he was leaving his finance portfolio and would soon resign his legislature seat to try for a seat in the House of Commons. The shuffle comes as the governing Progressive Conservatives have lagged behind the Opposition New Democrats in opinion polls for two years. The drop started during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic as hospitals began to struggle to deal with rising patient counts and surgeries were postponed. In 2021, dozens of intensive care patients were flown to other provinces in a bid to free up beds. Stefanson has also recently shaken up her staff as well. She changed her chief of staff and replaced her communications director. we have unquestioned the best in the league....and not over paying anyone on it...there in is the rub thats allowed us to be successfull for yrs now...took B.C several years to climb out of that Chungh overpay...and Reilly contract....and their window was last yr...and it slammed shut on them....for now
  40. Agreed. Nearly 300K per season for a guard is pretty crazy.
  41. Sucks he is going elsewhere but man that's a lot of cash for a guard....

The only question for her and PP - how big is that base? Hopefully small. Their speeches remind me of the sheep in Animal Farm: "4 legs good, 2 legs bad."

He could absolutely be at least the 2nd option on virtually any team in the league. He's an American version of Demski, in a lot of ways. Does so many good things and if he was given more targets, I have no doubt he'd light it up.
