I honestly am not a fan of the TSN pre or post game stuff. None of that interests me at all. CJOB pre and post game, and TSN for the PBP (only so I can actually see the game... a lot of times I'll go back to the vault and listen to Irving's PBP the day after for a different perspective...)

I would like to see a change in the awards where the top 3 are nominated for each award as opposed to one west vs one east. And no cap one per team. There have been many years where the best two players in a category come from the same division, and the east-west final is anticlimactic. And also years where two players from one team deserve to be in the top 3 (Stegall-Khari in 2002, Flutie-Pitts, Calvillo-Pringle as a few examples). Frankly, Jefferson, Jeffcoat and Bighill all deserve to be finalists for MODP over any other player I can think of.

Reposting this from the Als game thread as it is more seasonal. For context, I was wondering when the last time the Bombers trailed. Then I had to do the work myself. We were down 5-3 to the Elks until 3:20 left in the 2nd quarter on Oct 15. Prior to that the only times they've trailed: we were down 3-0 for 8:01 at the end of the first quarter vs BC on Oct 1. down 16-15 for 3:31 in the 3rd in Edmonton on Sep 18 down 3-0 in the first for 7 min and down 9-6 in the 2nd for 1:40 against SK on Sep 11 down 8-7 for 9:42 in the third on Labour Day See-saw game against Cgy on Aug 29. Stamps had the largest lead of the game at 4 pts (13-9) in the 2nd/3rd quarters. The loss to Toronto (Aug 21) saw the Bombers with their largest deficit of the season - behind 13-0 for about 5 minutes at the end of the first/beginning of the 2nd Trailed 6-0 for 7:23 in the 1st quarter of game 1 against Ham The Als game was the first time we've been behind by a converted touchdown since game 3 on August 21.

I wouldn't say that expecting more than 550 yards a season from our most expensive and seasoned vet wr is lofty. Nor is it lofty to expect him not to have 1 for 8 2 for 7 type games when we need to lean on him. Yes he's a very good blocker. But so is every starting wr we have. He starts in a premium high percentage slot spot. If he was playing wolis field side wide out it'd be more reasonable. But still he's looking like his career is on its last leg. Does he deserve a chance to shake it off and be in camp next year sure. But he needs to find his old form. He's dropped way too many this year.

I love the fact that right out of the gate in the 3rd quarter- the Al's came out and punched the bombers right in the freaking choppers. Bombers got up slowly and performed their version of Hogan's "Hulking up" and just shut it down for the last 27 minutes. Good to see that kind of response- more so in a game that does not impact the standings what so ever... Bomber Nation- we're in good hands.

who cares honestly. The Blue Bombers are the benchmark this year, they are setting the standard. Why do we need to justify our play against how the rider's played that team? Seems silly. Great- the riders held stanback to fewer yards, good for them. They measure what they accomplished against how we fared- as it should be, The top of the league IS the measuring stick. What do we need worry about? Let the rider faithful do their thing, it's actually quite the compliment- so we should take it as such. The LDC and BB were the weeks we needed to worry about the riders and their faithful- we responded with 23-8 and 31-9 respectively. We can worry about all that noise when (if) it matters.

But we do constantly fire the cannon off to make it "'foggy" at IGF.

The Als come to town with a chip on their shoulders yapping they were better than us. To their credit, they punched us in the mouth a bit. Then refuse to lie down & actually went ahead briefly in the game. We mount a comeback & smack the tar out of the Alouettes in the second half. By the time the game is in the fourth quarter & we go ahead the end really isn't in doubt even though we just have a 7 point lead. The hit on Jake Weineke in the 4th quarter by Bighill & 2 late interceptions by Alford & Biggie just drove the final nails in the Als coffin. The Als just couldn't run with us physically & we pulled away. We got behind & faced adversity & came back to win. We really needed this game to prep for the playoffs.

Levels said we haven't beaten anyone good. I guess he can be content knowing we still haven't.

I was worried our receiving core would be our weakness but Lawler has turned into that number one guy, and Bailey and Adam’s have been good complementary pieces, and Demski has really stepped up as an outstanding Canadian receiver, and woli is a solid complimentary piece.

So the bighill hit was close to being late. Receiver stepped out before, but the whistle wassow and the receiver kept playing like he was in. I can see why people would be upset and maybe a flag is thrown if the refs are calling a 0 tolerance game... but if the receiver wants to keep running you gotta expect the D will keep playing too.

Stamback rumbles down to the Bomber 10 Harris looks one way, throws back door.... to wide open guy in end zone Another TD on our D. 70 yards just like that . 21-14 Als Als need this game more than the Bombers, and playing like it... ZC throws a couple of incomplete passes....punt. Bomber O not looking very sharp...at this point.... Wilson stuffs run play....Harris then feels heat and dumps it.... Zac hits Lawler and Olivera for first downs.... ...but tic tak roughing penalty....pushes us back ZC barely avoids sack.....Als still bringing some pretty good heat. The lack of finish on O.....has the crowd pretty subdued, at this point.... Als 2 and out.....both teams stalling on offense.... Zac sideline pass to Adams and another completion to Demski..... ZAC finds Woltman on hook pattern....who turns around and.... ....finds no one in front of him....cuts inside and rumbles to the end zone!! XP makes it 21-21...back to square one.... Harris drops back and has a Stove fall on him - sack Zac finds Lawler on 2nd down.....then some play action.... ...and has Lawler wide open down the sideline all the way to the 15 Zac quick one to Bailey down to the 2..... McGuire plunges in for the TD 28-21 Bombers An 85 yard drive.....that is more like it.... Als get a couple of first downs.....until Stambeck is stuffed... ....and Wilson hammers Harris on an incomplete.... Grant catches punt and for at least the 2nd time...no yards missed.... Zac is sacked....then 2nd down pass knocked down... Castillo in for 48 yd attempt.....but Bombers called for procedure... Blue O still suffering from some lack of finish.... Harris's 2nd down pass knocked down...but "phantom" PI on Taylor Harris is then sacked by Thomas....Weineke on screen clobbered by Bighill.... 3 minutes left. Can the Blue grind this one out? Harris harassed on overthrow.....then has pocket collapse on another.... 3rd and 8...Als in to punt...but Bombers offside. Now 3rd and 3.... ....and the Larks are going for it. Harris gets nervous in the service.... ...and overthrows it - right to Bighill! Turnover! 2 runs fall short....Castillo in for huge 47 yarder....and he hits it! 31-21 Bombers. All that is left is preserving the 4th Q D record..... Als have one more shot with 1:18 left. Harris throws for first down. Harris throws to sideline....but Alford jumps the pattern. INT!! The 4th quarter streak is alive. The Als are dead. Crowd is standing and paying tribute to undefeated team at home. I am now sitting and drinking...in tribute to 7-0 team at home.
