Sample size is tiny and one of this two picks was tipped. This isn’t nearly as big a problem as it’s made out to be.

It’s amazing the flaws some people see in no doubt HOF QBs while they bend over backwards to defend our sub-mediocre QB.

To be honest Kongbo has shown enough already to be slated as the starter at end while Jeffcoat recovers..and an import at safety while he is in would be a decent idea...when you have sets where Roh subs in for Kongbo you can toss out Hecht or Jones I hope we are working or grooming Exume at the safety spot...I think he has the makings to be very good there...
  6. On 90% of the completions, the Bomber receivers are stationary. He doesn't lead the receivers and balls caught in stride are almost non-existent, especially recently. For whatever reason, he doesn't want to make those throws, so he checks it down. From what I can see, anyways.

People are the starter for a reason, there isn't a backup rb in the league that could replace half of what Harris does, in fact most of the starters in the league couldn't replace him either. You are crazy if you think the loss of Harris wouldn't be huge and devastating to your team. He is size and speed, if you don't get ready and respect his power he will run you over. If you get too low and try to take his legs out he will dance around you. If he hits open field he is gone and you can't catch him. Also most rb's don't have good hands, who is going to catch all the passes he gets or replace his blocking skills. For a starting running back right now in the cfl, at all facets of the game, there is no one better.

  22. Think thats bad get a load of this. I went back and looked at all our drives in the 4th quarter this year this is what our offense is putting up in the 4th quarter through 8 games. 11 first downs and 1 touch down. The rest of the team has 12 first downs, 8 of those from harris. (a first down not involving nichols is one that he doesnt do more then hand off/screen) The rest of the offense has 4 tds. All from streveler. While weve kicked 3 fgs. The offense has put up 17 4th quarter 2 and outs. (17 2 and outs to 23 first downs) And 5 of the first down drives have been 5 play drives or less. 1.37 times per final quarter of a game nichols is throwing a pass "down field" and completing it for a first down. 1 td pass in 2 games worth of final quarters. Half his picks come from the 4th, along with 1/14th of his tds.
  23. 6th most passes in 10-19 yards pass attempts... 12/30 or 40.0% - league leader comp %: Fajardo 23/32 or 71.9%, followed by Masoli 24/36 or 66.7%... most completions: Harris 34/56... 2nd most passes in the 20+ yard pass attempts... 13/35 or 37.1% - league leader comp %: Arbuckle 13/22 or 59.1%, followed by Fajardo 17/30 or 56.7%... most completions: Fajardo 17/30... this is as last week before games played as published by the CFL...

Tackles are not an indication of success at the safety spot. If any thing it trends in the opposite direction. Hecht has been very good this year. I was shocked he too the job over Jones but he has shown why on the field.

  28. Nichols is dead last in the league in completion percentage for throws 10 to 19 yards with an underwhelming 40% completion rate... 6th in passes 20+ yard attempts at 37%...

He played the last 2 seasons without getting hurt (18 games). That about quashes the notion that he is injury prone. In football it is common to get hurt.

It's time to hand the ball to Streveler. On an incremental basis, in certain situations. As far as the first.....closing out games - MOS may have seen the light - Streveler behind center, enhances Harris's ability to find room in the A/B gaps. Option plays can also be used in the mix. Would also like to see Streveler running out of some of the hybrid formation sets and provide a total change of pace from Nichols, at certain points of the game. It is also important to get Streveler enough reps, going forward.....so that we know, exactly what we have....as a potential starter, in future. I have always been to some extent, a Nichols supporter. But for the sake of the team - this O, would benefit from a judicious amount of Streveler reps, from here on in.

The fundamental difference between our viewpoints is you believe that the strategy is in place because of the co-ordinator and is independent of the QB and I believe that the significant limitations of the QB influence the way the game is called significantly. We will never agree and no coach will ever confirm or deny it so all we can do is argue until both of us go nuts.
  33. 2 points
Streveler has shown that he gets picked off more frequently in his playing time this season. THAT is the downside, and to a team that tries to win by making less mistakes than their opponent that's the one thing you can't do.
  34. 2 points
Why would anyone use Edem as an example of their team having better Canadian depth then Winnipeg?

I’d take Loffler over either of them

  37. 2 points
It would be very nice if a local media person would actually do an in depth interview with the coaches or Nichols. Maybe ask to see if the dump offs to Harris are by design or a safe out because the receivers are being covered.
  38. 2 points
agreed… in my short time of following the CFL I find that Calgary is more of a 'reload' team than a 'rebuild' team... they seem to have a knack for finding good, young talent that is ready to play, or, they have had a system that seems to get the most of their players... I do think that it would be tough for Nichols to have a better all around cast of supporting players than he does this year... so for me, if he can't get it done this year I would have serious doubt of him ever being able to do so... I honestly think that we have assembled a championship caliber team, talent wise... of course, chemistry and luck also have a say in some of it...

Time for LaPo to go & let Pierce step up. Only problem I see is he'll stick with LaPo's system so will things change that much?
  41. Demski can't block for ****, which is why he was the first of the Bison triumvirate to make the move to receiver and has never played special teams aside from returning. He can carry the ball but there's no way in hell they'd run a straight drop back with him as the 6th blocker.
  42. 1 point
and one of those was all on Mr. Mitchell with a very poorly underthrown ball that was intercepted in the endzone…
  43. 1 point
Mitchell is definitely the better QB, though I'd argue that's attributable much more to the team surrounding him than his individual abilities as a QB. He is the straw that stirs the Stamps' drink on offense, but they've also had fantastic D and STs over the last decade or so. Besides, even if we could've coaxed him over here, his contract would've been even more massive than what CAL paid for him, we wouldn't be fielding the same level of team... other areas would suffer.
  44. 1 point
but, wouldn't it be cool if as a fan you could actually have teams from the past, in their prime, play teams from today? we can only dream of such match ups...

Nobody is getting changed mid season, it all comes down to what happens come play off time. If they win the big game then myself and a whole lot of people will look foolish about complaining about the QB and coaches and all will be great. If they get bounced then something will need to change.
