You still have the Oilers without Gretzky. I'm not sure if the Jets would have won a cup in the 80's but probably at least 1 when you have the best in the world(see Pittsburgh with Mario/Crosby).

The way I remember the story was it was Shenk that said no to backgammon for Gretzky and went on to lose the first game and won the next 10.

Not Shenkarow, it was Gobuty.

My memory remembers Shenk but I don't doubt that I am wrong.....musta been the 70's.....too young to party in the 60s.

Prices have been announced.  There is a seating chart with the prices at the link, ranging from $185-$669.  My buddy has Loge and was offered to buy them and he was probably not going to due to the cost.  They were very expensive.

So what about the priv boxes. Is the game free for those people?

that's what a "loge" is, I think (??) and as the previous poster said, the cost of those is going to be extraordinary for this event, so quite a few might opt to pass on the weekend...

Loge in arena is first row of upper deck so it cant be that.

Loge are those sections with a couple of tables and nice chairs on the main concourse behind the last row. Comfy. They have server service I believe. Buddy just upgraded from his season tickets last year. He's a corporate sponsor.

This is a great interview by Peter Young (CTV Winnipeg sportscaster during the WHA days in the 70's). Gretzky tells his version of how he ended up in Edmonton. Never heard this explanation before. Makes sense ...

Should have gone with original logo for the one on the left.

The new HC jersey actually looks like a mix between an Oilers jersey and the old jets one with the stripes on the arms & bottom.

Love it. I always preferred the 90's Jets logo so I dig the modernization of the 80's logo. Looks amazing.

Thankfully, the NHL maintained the rights to the Jets 1.0 logos and colours, so I don't believe they ever transferred to the desert.

Nope.  The NHL maintains rights to their defunct franchises.  In the case of the Jets, I believe they transferred the trademarks to True North at no cost.  I recall Bettman said the name and logo were TN's if they wanted them back at the presser announcing the sale (the same presser where David Thomson was asked about the name and said "Jets is a fine name".

I was only joking.  Lots of people on Twitter playing that game though.  "Why are the Jets celebrating the Coyotes' past?  Shouldn't it be a Thrashers jersey?"

Correct. I meant originally, when the franchise left, the trademarks didn't move to Phoenix, so they never belonged to them.

They remain 'untarnished'.
