  • Are you serious with this statement?

  • 5 years from now you'll be telling us we shouldn't be signing Mark Scheifele to an 8 year extension because he'll be 35 at the end of it. When does it end? When can we start thinking about the prese

  • So much could happen over the next week. Going to be really exciting. As a fan of the Oilers, Jets, Hawks and Leafs, I'm ready for a lot of stuff to happen...

Maybe.  Depends on this season.  I think the Jets might get Scheif cheaper.  Does that six years take Couturier to one year before free agency?  To me, ideally, you sign these guys to contracts that still leaves a couple of years of restricted free agency so you can then, if you choose, try and lock them up into their early 30's.

You have to wonder what the Canucks are thinking.  Im no expert on the players involved but most people are saying the Canucks traded away the better player with the better contract plus the better prospect and better pick for the lesser player with a more expensive contract and a worse pick.

Canucks are probably going to get pretty bad before they turn the corner but giving up good prospects and picks isnt going to help.

Makes u wonder how Fehr would do now that we a good team.

He was interviewed awhile back on 1290 and said that he was so banged up that he shouldn't of even been playing when he was with us.

@FriedgeHNIC: Work still being done on Sutter extension in VAN, but hearing five years is expected to be the term. AAV sounds like just under $4.4M.

Are the Canucks management on drugs?

I still think Sutter could be worth that, I like him as a player and I don't think he's anywhere near his ceiling. But a contract like that, based purely on potential, I don't know... They better hope he develops like they want him to. So many ways for a contract like that to go bad.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed forward Jakub Voracek to an eight-year, $66 million contract extension on Thursday.

The deal holds an average annual value of $8.25 million.

I'd be surprised if the Jets don't re-sign Slater... Chevy can't be going all-in with prospects...  sticking point right now is probably two-way contract.

Jets have to start inserting at least a couple of rookies per year.   My money on one of those is Copp to replace Slater.

I'm just wondering if Slater would be fine with Moose and as a callup

No chance. He is still an NHL player regardless of whether that is here or elsewhere.
