Would definitely be an interesting choice for DC around here. 

Very surprised given his extension. Also think that while he may not be known as one of the better coaches in the league, Wally really screwed him with some of his personnel decisions the past year and a bit.

Was their DC any good? Washington??

Could definitely look at picking the carcass there for some coordinators here

Personally, I'd take Benevides over Etch in a second.   Of course, even if we wanted him, the big question would be whether or not he's ready to jump right back in as a DC.

Tell him that as a western team again the Bombers are a good place to give a "**** you" to BC by beating them again and again and again

Have to say I'm surprised by this. Bombers should definitely be making some preliminary calls.

Saw this coming yesterday when it was reported that Braley would pay out coaches who Wally didn't think should be there anymore.  I'd take Benevides over Etch in a second, but I'm not sure he'd want to go to Winnipeg.

I would imagine Dave Dickenson & Paul Lapolice would be at the top of the list of replacements. Even though Dickey is Cgy coach-in-waiting

Odd thing to say considering the bombers have already signed 3 guys.

As for Benevides, his desire to work will really be tested. He's got two years to sit at home collecting a paycheque if he wants to.

He might go from 400lbs to 600lbs if he does that.

Is this buono throwing benevides under the bus? Buono made quite a few questionable moves in the off-season.

Their defence was one of, if not the best, defences in the league this year.  Washington might stick around even with a new coach, but if not, I'd be interested in getting him here as well.

He's just the king of comedy isn't he? 

Yeah the D really wasn't the issue in BC at all, they went something like what? 3 or 4 games without giving up a TD at one point, the team to score that TD on them, The Bombers lol

 

Lawless pushing for Lapolice already to get the JOB there in BC. would Lapolice, after what he said about the controlling GM Joe Mack really want to take that JOB in BC if wally is actually running the show there?

I can see O'shea working well with Benevides

Well, Let's just say Benevides is one of i'm sure many soon to be candidates for the DC job. 

 

I suspect we will see lots of change on certain teams this year. Lots. 

 

The one question i'd have about Benevides would be, did he lose the room and if so, why?

 

Or was he just scapegoated by a GM who made some very questionable decisions in the off-season? 

 

Need to know the answer to that one before i'd hire him as DC. People can say what they want about Buono, but.. there is no doubt that it's his way or the highway, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, This seems to be one of the times where it didn't. To me, this screams Buono saving his own ass here. 

 

You listen to some of those BC players talk and say things like 24 should still be here, was that a benevides decision or was that a Buono decision to get rid of him?

 

I dunno, they got some problems there in BC tho. That's obvious. 

Wally likes Lapo. Could see that happening.  And Lapo does not have the testicular fortitude to stand up to Wally.

I think it's a stretch to say Wally likes Lapo.  I've seen a few people say that but it isn't really based on anything outside of one quote defending Lapo after Mack fired him.  And that seemed like more of a shot at Mack than a real defense of Lapo, to be honest.

I would take Benevides or Washington over Etch.  But why do I have this feeling it just won't happen.

No surprise as far as Bene goes. 50-17 in a playoff game will get you ticket out of town but that was just the icing on the cake. Benevides was in trouble all year and was not a popular guy in the locker room. I don't know what his record as dc was for the leos but it had to be pretty good as their defence was stalwart for a handful of years. Big changes in B.C. ,will there be a few here as well??
