Posted August 2, 201311 yr comment_12088 ...Too lazy to track down the tweet, but Pedersen (...please take it for what it's worth, 'cause that tool is less than reliable...) is saying there's a persistent rumour that the Bombers are courting Eric "Belt Loops" Tillman to replace Joe Mack. ...This might finally be the thing that sends me over the edge....
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12090 I'm at the point where I'd probably let Belt Loops run our team if it meant a better chance at a Grey Cup.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12091 first step after being hired - trade away Demond Washington and Chad Simpson to Toronto for Adriano Belli.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12092 No chance. None. With all the negative pub the team has generated in the last few years I can't see it. So I say 0.00000000001% chance. On the other hand. He's the only guy really available right now. None of the "home run hires" are going to leave their teams mid-season. Nor would the next generation AGM types like the guy in BC. Plus, He did take over Sask mid-season. Spent the rest of the year evaluating and bringing in new guys. Then hit the ground running and won the Coupe in '07. But on the other other hand (or the original hand if you prefer) a lot of bad **** has happened since then. So 0.000000000001% chance.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12093 I sure hope not. He's overrated: Didn't do great in Ottawa, took over Toronto is 97 with a stacked team, disaster in Edmonton. Plus he's a pervert.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12094 I like Pedersen's other rumour on a potential hire - assistant Rider GM Jeremy O'day. He's been sucking up all of that knowledge now for two years from Brendan Taman. I bet he has a napkin holder full of good ideas in his desk drawer by now.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12095 Pedersen said the same thing last year around this time as well. Penton said in yesterday's Sun that Lyle Bauer is wanting to get back to working in the CFL with his preferred destination being Winnipeg. Doing what I have no idea but no thanks.

Saw Lyle is a box at the Stamps/Bombers game. He wasn't kibitzing and talking business that's for sure. He was there to watch football.
August 2, 201311 yr Author comment_12099 Bauer has said, while in Calgary, that he'd like to bring Mike Kelly back again.....that, alone, gives me reason to put a restraining order on the guy and keep him away from IGF.....
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12110 I'm at the point where I'd probably let Belt Loops run our team if it meant a better chance at a Grey Cup. given what he did in Edmonton I don't think you can realistically say he'd bring anyone closer to a Grey Cup.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12112 Hiring Tillman would be another nail in the coffin. I think it upsets a good chunk of the hardcore fans leading to a continued drop in attendance and a poor product.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12115 With the PR nightmare that was the Mike Kelly saga, I would hope our board would not be THAT dumb (hey lets be honest, they're pretty fricken dumb) to hire Tillman, but I wouldn't put anything past them.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12117 It would not be a popular hiring and would give me great cause for concern, so if they're gauging fan reaction (like the Buck situation) then tread carefully BoD...tread carefully.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12118 given what he did in Edmonton I don't think you can realistically say he'd bring anyone closer to a Grey Cup. He brought Toronto closer
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12121 First of all. There's no reason to fire Mack mid season. What benefit would that provide over doing it post season? At that time they can go after anyone they want.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12122 First of all. There's no reason to fire Mack mid season. What benefit would that provide over doing it post season? At that time they can go after anyone they want. The only reason to fire a GM midseason is to stop a guy going crazy gutting a team to desperately try and turn things around. I don't see Mack doing that so there is absolutely no reason to do a mid season firing that will accomplish precisely nothing.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12127 Rod Peterson is an idiot. Although our idiot Gary Lawless said this week he would only target Buono, Hufnagle, and Taman. Pretty much guys that would never ever leave there jobs to come here.

August 2, 201311 yr comment_12132 Not happening. And if it did, I'm not sure I could get over the hiring.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12138 If true, you have to wonder what is wrong with the BOD. I realise they dont get paid but if you're not going to take the job seriously, step down. Lyle might not be a terrible idea. Not a great idea,. But not terrible.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12139 so no interest in Jeremy O'day? I wish we were grooming someone to be the new GM someday. Too bad Walters wasn't brought in as AGM a few years ago.
August 2, 201311 yr comment_12154 I'm at the point where I'd probably let Belt Loops run our team if it meant a better chance at a Grey Cup. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
