Maier was given every opportunity to win today. He cant throw the deep ball to save his life. Dru must just be steaming mad watching this

Lots of empty seats showed up for the Edmonton game today.

Since day 1 I’m not seeing what some see in JM as a bonafide starting CFL qb and fascinated by the contract that was given to him. I’m sure he’s a helluva guy but wow.

Ottawa and Toronto both look awful so far.

They'll hype the hell out of Kelly but he's lucky he didn't throw about 12 picks in that one. He's got nothing on the ball, but some great receivers.

I get it it's raining but did the fans in Edmonton not know there was a game today, it's pitiful what's happened in that city in terms of the CFL.

Not a good look. Need bums in the seats, optically sucks a**.

Spring football isn't a popular spectator sport on either side of the border.

looks like there's maybe 2,000 people there today. How does that franchise survive?

Chris Morris complained how much a disaster it was changing the name. Went on to say how hard it is to sell tickets. He said they won't change the name back which the fanbase seems to want. No real proof indigenous people in the Arctic or Alberta were against the name Eskimos in great numbers in the first place. Get woke. Go broke.

And you know it’s true because Ottawa can’t stop changing their name and their stands are empty too.

How hard is it to build a rum hut in every stadium in this league? Seriously.

Shocking. Move the season up and only Winnipeg is full. Football is a warm weather summer sport here. Kids still in school, thought we tried this b4 and it failed. It’s failing again.

Rankin is gonna eat our D alive. He gonna go over 300 running.

the struggles in attendance are far broader than edmontons name change as you can see reflected in calgary, ottawa, hamilton and toronto.

It’s a far bigger contributing factor that edmonton has been a dumpster fire of an organization that entire time.,

Blaming the elk name change is like blaming the old bombers thunderbolt for the dark era in the late 90s.

The league, aside from the riders and us, whove been league back bones by a large margin, and bc who has seen massive effort and expense to bring them back, has been a gigantic mess since covid.

Changing the name wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference.

I’m sure we’ve seen this before too, I just can’t remember when.

It’s not impossible to make sprint or early football work, but it’s damn hard. Making early football and such a long season work though, that might be impossible up here. Atleast to do and make a profit.

The stadiums in Alberta are like the third circle of hell. Just terrible facilities and they keep putting lipstick on the pigs.

Also it’s not just the rum hut here. The rum hut is really for the young ones who don’t want to remember the game.

at least you get the kids to show up, which is step one.

The way I see it. Change the name back to Eskimos & you attract another 25000 fans to the games at CWS. people can pull out their old Eskimo gear & wear it with pride again. Remember, the demographic of CFL fans are older so they have experienced tradition. Take that away & it makes peoplke angry. The Eskimo fanbase wasn't consulted. it was a unilateral decision by the BOD's. They rightly felt excluded & not heard. They're letting the tone deaf Elks organization know how they feel with their wallets & the team refuses to listen. Someone on the Internet is saying the Elks should move to Quebec City. Maybe they should.

Calgary's issue is stadium & ownership. McMahon is a dump. Fans no longer want to go watch the Stamps. Throw in an owner who doesn't care about the fans or the team & you have tons of apathy. They need a new owner. Someone who is engaged with the fans. As well as a new building.

Ottawa is the team. A decade of shitty management & coaching. Nothing ever changes. Fans thought Ryan Dinwiddie would come in & instantly turn things around. pretty hard when Dinwioddie plays Jake Maier over Dru brown. Which tells you just how bad Browna ctually is. No leadership sills at all. Average arm. Injury prone. I see atrade coming for Nick Arbuckle & soon. Give Ottawa a winning team & the fans will come back.

Hamilton is an enigma. Haven't won a Grey Cup in 28 years. They have the best qb in the CFL right now. He's on fire. They have the best receiving corps & a young exciting running back. Defense looks like it's championship calibre. And they can't get more than 15000-20000 to the games. Go figure.

Commonwealth stadium is no where near as bad as McMahon Stadium.

Have to wonder if the attendance being down in a lot of venues is also a reflection of the economy right now. Hamilton has been hit pretty hard by tariffs etc.

Calgary as well.

Summarize what happened in Edmonton since 2009 as Tillman, Ed Hervey, Chris Jones and the cast of characters in their wake as the board panicked more and more as the bottom fell out over the last 20 years.
