Oilers’ Zach Hyman done for the season, requires surgery

They can still get it done, but that's a big loss for Edmonton.

Massive loss... Figuring Skinner comes back in now eh? Kane likely still best served in a lesser, checking role.... Human has been so deadly as a garbage picker in front. Especially on the PP. Tough to replace that offense.

He's become such a rat in recent years that people forget Perry was an elite hockey player 15 years ago...

My wife "followed" (virtually) Selanne to Anaheim and we filled the Jets void by watching a lot of Ducks games. Can confirm that Perry was elite, but also that he has always been a rat. One of those players you love to have on your team but hate to play against.

I mean, look where he ranks in goals for active players. That is some elite company.

So Florida and Edmonton look set for a Finals rematch.  Hopefully a different outcome this time around.

If this match happens, hope they both lose.

I know I know, cheer for a Canadian team blah blah blah.

Edmonton has been gifted with not one, not two, but maybe three generational type players over the years.

Yes I'm jealous and a petty sore loser.

Go Bombers?

I get your point for sure... But really only 1 generational player. What they were gifted was a lot of #1s, which they managed very poorly.

Wayne Gretzky - hid him from 1979 draft year because of personal contract service with PP.

Leon Draisaitl  - Third Overall pick in 2014 entry draft rewarded for losing.

Connor McDavid - First Overall pick in 2015 entry draft rewarded for losing.

Again, my jealousy and petty exaggerations has no bounds.

Leon is great but I don't consider him a generational talen and I don't think anyone expected him to be as good as he's been.

McDavid has been the promised one since he was a kid while some "experts" (like Button or McKenzie) had Leon rated 4th or lower in his draft year.   We're splitting hairs though - A++ vs A+ is still exceptional.

Florida now has 3 of the top 4 players taken in the 2014 draft.  What a draft year that was!  We took Ehlers (which was a great choice) but we could have had Pasternak! Dylan Larkin as well.  That's how deep that draft was.  As for Drai, I got to see him play here in Kelowna in 2015, when the Rockets mortgaged their future and made the trade for Drai and Morrissey for their Memorial Cup run that year.  I was surprised that Drai didn't go first overall.

That draft would look very different if it were done again.  Florida might not have a "generational" guy but the weather and lack of taxes sure let's them get a bunch of high end guys.

Barkov in my opinion is a generational guy. He’s the Finnish Russian version of Patrice Bergeron. Also they have Ekblad who was one of very few to be given exceptional status by the ohl. Weather. Lack of taxes and most importantly anonymity cuz rumours are nobody really cares there. As a dad I’d prob not like America right now or as a Canadian perhaps I’d want to avoid it currently so perhaps to each their own but I’m sure the cocaine Is funner in Miami. I mean. Who knows. Anonymity but school shootings but you’re loaded so really, anonymity weather and 8 million = 8 million. Yup. Easy decision. I’m taking beaches and boats and beyotches
