I’ll kick in for the limo and help arrange the police escort

Pre fa deals coming apart already...Tre Roberson deal with Ottawa has been scrubbed and I wonder how many others will do the same...Maybeeee the Lawler deal with Ham might meet the same fate........????we shall see

A few guys change their mind every year. I feel like Roberson has done this like 2 times before already too

I'd be concerned if I were a Hamilton fan that he's bringing many mediocre guys that way.

As a Bomber fan this excites me that we have unloaded a guy who appears to be the one who recruited this C - D level talent.

Mediocre is all they’ve done since 21. It’s legit to build a team from the bottom up, especially when you think you have the qb in place.

Never understood why the first thing a player, coach or GM wants to do is stick it to his old team. The one that gave them their start or made a name for themselves. Does Ted Goveia not have evaluation reports on other CFL free agents? BS.

.....I'm sure he has a mittful of fa's BUT he has first hand knowledge of our guys .....knows we have a lot of quality players in the lineup, and is accomplishing two things.....making his new club better (in some instances) and weakening a very good opponent ....You'd think there would be 'some' loyalty toward his old club ...Unfortunately I think loyalty in professional sports no longer exists IF it ever did

Some of it is probably just training camp fodder. Do you see Josh Johnson having a role on that team?

I remember Roy Shivers **** all over the Stamps after he left to become GM of the Riders in 1999. You'd think the Stamps kidnapped him from Las Vegas where he lived & put him to work in the salt mines asomewhere the way he talked about his former team. Wally made Shiver's career by taking an unknown scout & making him asst gm. Never did he once thank Buono or the Stamps for giving him his big break.  He was all about saying how the Riders were going to destroy the Stamps on the field, which they never did.

It was crazy. It's like Shivers lost his mind. He was just talking trash from the time his team touched down at the airport in Calgary to when the Riders left with their tails between their legs on their short flight to Regina. Shivers started the culture with the fanbase we know & love still to this day with his big mouth.

Shivers was an extremely talented gm/scout. But that was basically his side job. His main job was holding grudges.
I can say some of those were well earned and justified. But when you are always that angry and have grudges against soo many you gotta be part of the problem too.

Perhaps a few quotes in there help explain why. But yes angry bitter man for sure.

From the bits I’ve heard I have no doubt that his ire, distrust, and quick temper were stoked by circumstances outside of his control.

I meant to say his first game as GM against the Stamps in 2000. Bad mouthing the city, the Stamps & virtually guaranteeing a win for the Riders who lost. Shivers was defiant from the time the plane touched down to after he left as a loser.

Other blacks felt prejudice & racism yet never let that stop them from trying to make the world a better place. I never walked in his shoes as a man so maybe I'm the wrong person to say this. I'd hope that I'd try to see the good in most people instead of being this angry & bitter old man that Shivers became. If you let it then hatred will consume you.

Before anyone says that I am a bitter old man already, let me say this. I'm grouchy but I'm not angry. I was yelling at clouds when I was 12.

He was an adult and no longer in the circumstances that produced his dysphoria, so he was responsible for his behaviours.

He’s absolutely responsible and always ways. However being dehumanized and treated in ways that would sicken most people has serious long term issues. That era wasn’t exactly known for trauma support.

I have had occasion to work with those who have had horrific abuse and neglect. It comes down to whether the individual chooses to live as a victim or chooses to make peace with his/her past and move on.

As some one with significant trauma in the past I whole heartedly agree. People who haven’t yet made that choice, I chose to meet with empathy first and foremost. His actions aren’t excused. They do warrant a citation though imo.
