The injury losses turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and that's not meant to poop on Wilson, Bighill or Schoen....all great players. But in a year we needed to see some development of young players we did. All 3 of those losses could have skidded us out of the playoffs if the offseason we had from the scouts and the GM hadn't been so solid. Man...our LBer crew came out of nowhere at the exact right time, A guy like Bonds just steps in seamlessly and has an all star level season. On and on I could go. What particularly impresses me is how much further along we are towards have a very real and legit chance at the home GC this year because we're not aging out a ton of players and the guys we are we have field tested their replacements. Just solid team building.

Agree with all that. It’s kind of crazy how every thing lined up for development. Next years team could be as dominant as 21 if the off season goes well.

I really don't see him as a fit anymore and that's not a knock on him because someone else will almost definitely sign him.

yeah our secondary is soo good and young now. If we retain every one the only way you take one of those jobs is injury. The only opening I think we might see is S, and I think we have the guys we’d want to fill that too. we have always scouted dbs exceptionally well. But this year is insane.

Need 25 points to win. Argos will get one on ST, one on defence, squeak out one on offense and at least 1 field goal. That's 24.

We just need 25. Heard it here first!

I don’t think they’ll get one on D. Giving up a td to teams and D is crazy hard to over come.
Generally in the cfl, it’s a race to 30. If you win that, you win a great deal of the time. Especially in. Grey cups.

my guess is they don't overthink this and change up the game plan too much... generally they've been going with minimal pressure and making the QB sit in the pocket and find blanketed receivers...

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been curfews in the past.... you may be right about some guys - let's call it - "losing focus" the past couple years

They’re in Vancouver where there’s a lot of fun stuff to do at night. This wasn’t a concern in Hamilton or Regina, where the most fun thing to do is play bloody knuckles with your drunk cousin, therefore a curfew wasn’t necessary.

The bumpy start...issues...injuries...faux paux for.not playing some guys in TC in the end benefitted us

We were forced...yes forced to make changes we likely wouldn't have in some areas...and if we went status quo...I.dont think we are here

If anything this season allowed some the vets to have to play and remember how to win again and just further cemented this culture and what we do here with the new guys..and there are a lot when u scan the roster

As Darvin said "it's just what we do"

LFG!!

Being unfortunately in AB, we are trying our best to re-create the game day experience. Started with a home made version of the "Cafe Breakfast" from Stella's on Pembina, complete with a jar of their homemade jam that we bought last weekend.

A good start to the day.

The first of MANY Manitoba brewery beers on the way within the hour....

As Dave said in our group chat earlier: "in the words of Willie Jefferson, 'Why The F*** Not Us?!?!?'..."

The prospects for the secondary are bright but unfortunately the salaries are creeping up in an area Walters has in the past maintained as a bargain basement ELC proving ground.  Nichols and Kramdi are already making around $140k, with both Holm and Ford seeking that much or more, not sure he'll be able to retain both without making sacrifices in other positions.  A counter point is the LB's crew salaries if Jones takes over from Bighill and Ayers from Kyrie would be a bargain next season.  Could be another off-season of hard personnel decisions.

Are we just not counting the Eskies since they've changed their name?

Edmonton Eskimos/Elks won 14 Grey Cups. We beat the Esks in the 1990 Grey Cup. Jackie Parker & Tom Wilkinson never played for the Elks. They played for the Esks. Tre Ford never played for the Eskimos. I call them the Esks prior to 2021. The Elks after that.

Schoen wants big bucks. We proved we can win without him. I'd keep Lawler over him & puts some of that money saved to sign Ford.

I tell Collaros to tell me the top 5 receivers and OL he wants, already here and free agents.  Pay all those guys.  Go from there.

Field corner isn't getting paid.  I say good luck to Ford on his way to Hamilton, enjoy losing and being close to home.

Yep... For GC year, pay anything and everything. 2019 to now has been all about the 25 GC.

Is it for sure that Tyrell is going to Ham? That sucks for sure.

Ford is Canadian so he'll get paid. Maybe not bringing back guys like Bighill, Wilson, Schoen & a few others will free up some money.

Noeller, how can you or anyone say that from 2019 it's all about the 2025 Grey Cup? It's not. You can't just pick a year, circle the calendar & say that's the year we are definitely going to win. With rosters constantly in a flux from free agency, players from 2019 aging out, coaching changes, injuries, etc, you win for today. Not tomorrow. The 2025 season starts tomorrow the day after the Grey Cup.

If Walters trims Bighill, Kolankowski, and #37, that would do it. Easy as cake.

The first point feels bang on.

Doesn't it? Until JBR mentioned it, I hadn't really thought about it... But it's bang on. Do whatever... Pay whatever... Take whatever penalties... To ensure we host both the WF and GC. That is going to be the greatest week of my life.
