Drew Richmond retires at 28, leaves hole in Winnipeg’s offensive line

https://3downnation.com/2024/02/06/drew-richmond-retires-at-28-leaves-hole-in-winnipegs-offensive-line/

Drew Richmond has retired from the CFL, opening a hole in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ offensive line.

The six-foot-five, 314-pound blocker was slated to earn near the league’s minimum salary in 2024 and, per sources, was unwilling to return to Winnipeg without a new contract. The club was open to renegotiating but, when a deal couldn’t be reached, Richmond decided to move on from professional football.

I thought he was Yoshi's replacement?

Oops,yes, I did.

I’d be happy if that was true. Biggest question is and will be his health. He can play, I wouldn’t be worried to break camp with him starting at rt.

Either way I do expect to see a fist full of tackles come in. Hoping for gray to be back and get a crack at rt first and foremost. I fully believe that’s where he’s best off.

How you feeling about today as a greenback? Lots of movement for sure.

As much as payments have been at a premium, they’ve all been positions of need, and they’re talented guys. Can’t undervalue the culture a guy like Hardrick brings too.

This might be the biggest overstatement in headline form of the year so far.

Guy who never played and more likely than not couldn't play leaves a hole?  He's no better than anyone they bring up from US for camp.

Says a guy leaves a hole but literally never played.

I’m writing a blog post for 3DN:

Noeller has retired from pro-football. Leaves a hole in the Kansas City lineup.

I just found I could make more money in radio and needed a higher dollar value to make it worthwhile.........

Trevor Harris-$500,300

Yoshi-$230,000

Lanier-$250,000

Bane-$175,000

Ouellette-Not reported so I'll go $170,000 for now

That is a total of $1.33 million for five players

Collaros-$600,000

Brady-$230,000

Dalton-$230,000

Kenny-$285,000

Bryant-$180.000 (might be less)

That is a total of 1.5 million for 5 players

Yeah, I get that its an extra $200,000 but all those Riders talking about how our cap space is gone and we're doomed, um not so much.
