There is no sportsmanship in a game like that.

According to TSN, the Germans were given the option of rescheduling their initial games once the COVID outbreak hit. They chose to keep the games as they were. The rationale was that they were going to lose these 2 games anyway, so the scores don’t matter, and they would rather get their full compliment back for the games that matter to them against the Swiss and the Slovaks to try and crack the playoffs.

I have no idea what you mean by ‘no sportsmanship in a game like that’.  What would you have team Canada do?  Let up and risk injury?  If they won 8-2, would that make you feel better?  Because if either German goalie could make a few routine saves or not cough the puck up, that may have happened. I just don’t get this narrative that the Canadians did anything unsportsmanlike.  It’s ridiculous.

I didn’t say the Canadians intentionally did anything unsportsmanlike, but a game like that does not promote sportsmanship.

But if you guys didn’t mind that slaughter...so be it.

What can you do in a situation like this in a hockey game? In football, you can do what TB did yesterday and sit guys for a half. Same thing in basketball, you empty the bench.

Seriously though the CDN coach clearly not tell the players to let up. It's on him.

Instead of crapping on the team,  why doesn't the tournament have a mercy rule? Call the game when someone has a ten goal lead?

TSN would lose advertising revenues... They would not be happy. Other than Canada, does any other country even care about this tournament?

Heinola got hurt in the 3rd period, against Canada.  Took a shot on his hand.

Two damn near perfect games after that "worrisome" win over Slovakia. Canada looks pretty formidable going into the quarterfinals. Should be a good game vs. Czech Republic!

They should pump the Czech's... Who aren't that good. 19 1st Round picks... I damn well hope they're dominating teams. It's the very definition of an all star team...

Last year at camp he listed at 181lbs. WJ has him listed at 180lbs. Need more boeuf on them bones.
