If an NFL team has an interest in a player and want to to know how long he is signed for then they should be contacting the CFL team, not the player's agent.

Why would an NFL team contact a CFL team? That doesn't make sense.

NFL teams contact agents. The CFL teams don't speak for players.

I'd take LeFevour over Durant or Glenn based solely on their sideline demeanor. Durant Glenn LeFevour

  • Buckley's going to med school, per the article. Doesn't sound like sneaky roster management. Congrats to Buckley on his med school admission and all the best to him in his next act.  Winning a co

Some of you must get really pissed at players retire before their contract ends.

only when they are still looking to play the game and get an NFL shot, otherwise.. so be it.

I didn't fault Wagonner for retiring even though I had high hopes for him..

A bit off current topic, but has it been posted that former Stampeder QB Jerry Keeling departed this mortal plane last week?

Jerry was a great player. He could play both ways & was not only an All Star qb. He was also an All Star defensive back as well. Cut in the same mould & from the same generation as Ken Ploen.  Both guys could go both ways. Keeling came into the CFL  in the early 60's playing defense while being the Stamps backup qb at the same time. It wasn't until Peter Liske left Calgary for the Denver Broncos after the 1968 season did he get a chance to start. He quarterbacked the Stamps to a Grey Cup victory in 1971 & along with former Blue Bomber qb Rick Cassata, the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1973.

Whether it's an NFL team or another CFL team, they need permission from the team who the player is under contract to in order to talk to player. If they don't have that permission, they are not allowed to contact the player or his agent.

I guess when you publicly declare that someone's going to be the "best ever" before you get that contract signed you kinda weaken your bargaining position.

Somebody should tell Johnny that $150,000 is a lot more than $0. Then again his nickname isn't Johnny Math.

I thought the guy came from a really rich family?

That's how its supposed to work. But there are no repercussions from them contacting the agent. If anything the agent would want to talk with them as an NFL deal would increase their bottom line. A cfl team is likely to tell them to take a hike.

Trade his rights to Montreal asap... only team in the league crazy enough to sign him

at 500k? I don't know if even Reed is that much of a mental case.

$150K is not a serious offer, actually quite insulting. $300K plus bonuses would have been realistic.

Maybe the offer reflects what the Cats see as his value and potential. Talent is not enough- we've seen a lot of talented players arrive with great fanfare and implode.

I don't know. Their head coach legit said he would be the greatest to ever play in CFL.
