  • apparently he suffered a significant injury......depending on recovery, could be back in camp next spring. This seems like a paperwork move....

  • Sorry for just barging in here, but...While the Bombers could stick another guy in and run a 2-back set, that's still a long ways from replacing Flanders.  The Bombers weren't having success because F

Bloody shame that they couldn't assemble a premiere OL until the Berry era.

No doubt. The beating blink and khari took behind the varied faces we had on the line was brutal. If QBs were protected any where near as well as they are today, and our ol was better that era would have lasted much longer.

At 6'4" and 265, he was trying to make it in the NFL as a weak-side linebacker. Unless he is a lot quicker than I  think he is, he's a DE here, and I don't know why we need another one.

Imo, this is a move based on talent level.  Seeing if he can continue to refocus and show the raw talent that made him a 5 star prospect.

repeat ad nauseum: These are not moves for this year. It's about getting a jump on TC next year....seeing who's worth bringing back next spring.......also, ALWAYS trying to get better at every position. Always bring in more talent across the board.

That's crazy talk.  They should only be adding players at positions that random fans feel are necessary!

Abu Conteh and Josh Straughn both cut........also added a new QB along with the aforementioned DE.........

I assume these releases are just "hey see ya next year" type ones.  bring em in, show em we are interested and then bring em back to camp.. id hope anyway at this point.

Philip Nelson will get the chance to prove himself at next week's East Carolina pro day, but the former Pirate has already received some love heading into late April's NFL Draft as a potential sleeper at the quarterback position.
That hype continued on Thursday, as Fox Sports 1 analyst Joel Klatt said Nelson could be one of the top under-the-radar signal-callers in the upcoming draft.
Former NFL head coach Mike Martz also said after the NFLPA game in January that Nelson had the makeup to be a starter in the league. Jon Kitna, a former NFL quarterback who coached Nelson at the PA game, also was highly impressed by Nelson.

Was excited when i saw this. And a bit surprised. Idk why nelson is not sitting on an nfl teams PR developing.

Despite his moving around and general lack of snaps, he is an incredibly polished qb. Looks off wrs, phenomenal pre snap / post snap read and adjust guy.  Great footwork, quick release, arm strength for any pass, and his touch, ball placement and accuracy are fantastic.  Most of his work has been out of the gun / pistol. A lot of the QBs weve brought in have been raw tools guys who came out early. Tough athletic qbs that needed plenty of work. Nelson is more like Mcleod bethel thompson, but drastically younger. With enough experience and polish to boot.  Its soo soon for his move up here, I wonder if this is a deal with an agreement to waive him to try and catch on with an NFL camp next summer.

What is his negative? The arrest is big. A bit more play time would have been helpful. Small school and none nfl style "Pro" offense also hurt him. That said they could rename the big sky conference, "cflers of tomorrw".

Prepare your self, this is the LOTR equivalent of high light clip length. 40+ and 36+ minutes.

We saw a bunch of these last near that didnt even get to camp. Id say its a pre camp try out, but that they expect to see a reason to bring guys back in a hurry.  Come in and relax, have the wrong mind set, or be a bit off physically and its a real quick hook.

Anyone else curious as to why the Esks can pick up a running back and have him contribute immediately, but even though the Bombers and Harris are suffering from the absence of Flanders, our shiny new and promising RB cannot?

Sheesh! That doesn't happen, silly. A player has to languish on the PR for a year or more and pay their dues and then and only then might they get their chance at a steady gig. You can't just show up and play no matter how good you are. Pffft!

Serious question:  Are you Thorpe's mom or his agent, because you gotta be one or the other.

You mentioned the Eskimos, though. And how they can sign a player who's impactful right away. What player would that be, LaDarius Perkins?

We could. We had a fantastic RB battle in TC. They arent. They added one the PR, but that could well be just part of the parade of air lifts we are evaluating. What that says to me is they dont expect flanders to be out long.  To replace flanders, we'd need a back that fits his role. catching, lining up at multiple positions, running, being a decoy, blocking etc. Thats much harder then finding a one dimensional rusher.
