A real reporter doesn't wait for the news to be handed to him, he goes out and finds it himself.  This is just a journalist getting mad because he has to do real work rather than pump out 200 words in 15 minutes a day based on a few cherry-picked quotes and a press release.  Traditional media deserves all the problems they've been having because they let themselves get stale and lazy.

Then why did the coach tell the media Westerman was fine and an hour later Tait releases this article with quotes from the player (that the media was told they couldn't talk to )?

They had availability the next day.  Wiecek is basically saying "wah wah I can't do my job" admitting he has no sources.  Somehow Lawless didn't have this trouble with the Jets or Bombers/CFL who have had their own in house media for nearly a decade.  Wiecek needs to do his job better.

Lazy.

This might hold some water if it were true. But there are plenty of 3rd party Journalists who break stories before the "team guy" does. Weicek is afraid of change and seemingly unwilling to adapt in the ever changing landscape that is journalism. He's just another old timer who, if he doesn't change will be out of a job likely sooner than later.

come on sooner!

on a different note, isn't it a good thing that Management didn't dump Opo for whatever.....when many here figured that would be a smart move?

good call.. I was advocating trading him for something we needed more at the time.. never expected to lose Westerman at all, guy had been a rock..

Wiecek is just grousing because he doesn't get to sit in the back of the media scrum munching on free donut's and Timmies coffee, while the team spoon feeds him his 500 words, that he will then twist and distort completely. Now he has to actually ask questions and stuff and formulate his anti-Bomber rant based on his own though processes. This scares him....and so it should.

"Shock" journalists hate it when the truth comes out prior to deadline.
