Although to be fair there is a persistent sense that Malkin's game elevates when Crosby is hurt.  And if thats true, there is probably something to be said for a player who watches Crosby's work ethic every single day.

No, I do not see the paths they travel being the same.

Malkin is also a center tho and ovi is a winger. Bit of a difference.  

Like I said tho Ovi isnt the only problem there. 

Laine is not similar to ovi at all actually. Minus the obvious one timer but Laine at 18 was more of a playmaker than ovi ever was.

Who could afford Ovi's contract though?  

Ovi would likely do better being "Kessel-ed".....don't have to be the star, just be a contributor. But, as mentioned, he'd likely have to take a cut...

Yeah that's exactly it, if he's your best player you're not winning a damned thing, but if he's riding shotgun to a real star then maybe you got a chance. 

It really goes to show how teams with their best player as a winger are lacking where team that have the top centre do much much better.

Doubt they are the nordiques anytime soon. Normally it's a less obvious team. Think Florida or something like that for QC

I should have also said no more overtime for god sakes no more overtime, where was all this overtime when the jets needed it during regular season, all this overtime, right here, right now, could have got them into the playoffs right now, but even then we'd be struggling against those stupid ducks
