Hall's vanilla defense is traditional. In fact I'd say that's the problem is it's too tradtional it's predictable.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
True, but Jonathon Jennings has been making quite a few opposing defenses look good as of late, so that may be part of it. It may sound like being a perfectionist, but I still think defenses should finish games and not decide to get all sloppy at the end there. It's not about the score or the lead, it's about the mentality. It may not get us in trouble with a big lead, but if we're defending a one possession lead or so in crunch time, I wouldn't trust Richie Hall to be aggressive.

Bombers @ Argos: Dressler Return? + Lapo Must Call Deep Balls To Non-Lankfords Edition
The whole spew about deep balls is to keep defenders from coming up to the line to tee off on Harris coming out of the backfield. He's our workhorse but if I'm an opposing LB or DB and I see Harris coming out of there, I'm thinking 80% chance he's getting the ball thrown to him because Bombers aren't throwing deep.

Maybe, but the best LBs are those who diagnose and disrupt the opposing team's plays. I don't see Hurl as a disrupter.

Bombers @ Argos: Dressler Return? + Lapo Must Call Deep Balls To Non-Lankfords Edition
Well, I know we all like to criticize receivers who do that, but I'm sure plenty of opposing receivers have done so when Loffler came flying at them.

Bombers @ Argos: Dressler Return? + Lapo Must Call Deep Balls To Non-Lankfords Edition
I'm not sure deep ball is Feoli-Gudino's strength as he seems to excel better catching out routes and then barreling through defenders. But Lankford's route running (and Washington's somewhat) has been predictable and the opposing safeties seem to know where he's going on deep balls. Haven't seen him shake his defender yet.

Bombers @ Argos: Dressler Return? + Lapo Must Call Deep Balls To Non-Lankfords Edition
The problem is you can't do that too well if the DBs are coming up to the line and not giving Harris or whoever any room to setup those screens. Lapo has to call more deep balls to keep them honest and away from that play. In other words, yes the short passes are our bread and butter and they should be, but if you don't add in the long balls to get them off of you, they'll keep getting stuffed. And yeah, Washington didn't show too well on that deep ball. I'm wanting to see if Givens offers any ability to fight off defenders on contested catches cuz we're going to have to make some of those to be good in playoff time.

Fair enough, but when's the last time Hurl made good plays there? Just saying...

Bombers @ Argos: Dressler Return? + Lapo Must Call Deep Balls To Non-Lankfords Edition
Well, maybe we can get a little help from whoever plays Edmonton this weekend to lock up that home field for the WSF so that regardless of what happens this week we got a little time to get healthy and prepared for the playoffs. But I still say we can't go on complete auto pilot cuz we gotta figure out how to stretch defenses and get em off of Harris. Dressler coming back would be a start. But no more running the jet sweep with him and no he isn't washed up. Enough of that talk. Also, anyone know if Wilder is back for the Argos?

Stamps @ Awful Masolis / Redblacks @ Ridirts
Not really. This isn't hockey. Yes, it's good to have some feistiness and be physical, but you gotta stay smart and disciplined in big games. If you don't, you're just like Johnny Sears who cost us some big ones with his foolishness.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
Maybe, but as I mentioned before don't forget Davis has a pretty strong arm. Maybe not as quick a release, but certainly does have arm strength.
-
Argos @ Esks
That's enough time for at least some of them to get healthy, and perhaps Lapolice to start being more agressive on playcalling.
-
Argos @ Esks
Well, we need Toronto to win this game to clinch a WSF home date. But it's unfortunately 7-0 Edmonton atm. Toronto needs to have somebody besides that goofball Marcus Brady call plays.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
i would normally agree, but he's been notorious for going into that prevent nonsense over the course of his tenure everywhere.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
It was good to win, but it was a costly one. And as SpeedFlex mentioned, in this game, garbage time isn't always garbage. I only hope we get Dressler back against Toronto and see Lankford get dumped off this team. Or better yet maybe Lapolice should run him on that sweep play that Dressler gets hurt on because Stankford is expendable. Sick of seeing that clown in a bomber uniform, the honorary uniform that Milt donned.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
I called out Lapolice today for not calling more deep route plays that featured receivers other than Lankford, and allowing the opponent to key in on Harris. But you gotta finish games as a D-coordinator, not go into silly passive mode. So I'm calling him out for it.
-
Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
which happens when you're playing prevent and they run underneath plays with blockers in front.
-
Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
Yeah but that's still bad on his part.
-
Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
And even if we did lose Leggett, Richie Hall's silly prevent D was embarrassing I will say though, I think Lapolice does deserve some criticism for this game too, I didn't like his uber conservative approach against that awful D. Make no mistake, it's a good day to be a Bomber fan, we got the W, but we won't be playing against inept QBs like this in the playoffs.

Fire Richie Hall !!!! DISGRACE COACH
Bad at route-running, and also paddlehands dropping an easy catch. Can we just cut his butt outta here right now? #CutRyanStankford

Lions @ Bombers - Right The Ship Edition
Well OK yes I get your point it's just with that objective right in front of us now, I just don't want to fritter it away.
-
Lions @ Bombers - Right The Ship Edition
No if we win today the most we could lose is 7, the number the Ridirts already lost. Both them and Edmonton are beaten by us so they're only hope is having better records. We win 1 more and it will be impossible for SSK to do so.
-
Stamps @ Awful Masolis / Redblacks @ Ridirts
How bout let's bring em to IGF and knock em out.
-
Lions @ Bombers - Right The Ship Edition
We absolutely have to win now. The Ridirts lost which means if we do, we'll have officially beaten them in the race for WSF home spot. We'll seal that spot if the Argos knock the Eskos down right after that. Hopefully Wilder is ready to run wild.

Well let's get this W today and then it will.
