Free Agency Frenzy
If it came from Dunk it must be a lie. Jackson and Argos will sue.

Free Agency Frenzy
Hopefully a deal can be reached. I've accepted Friesen will always have an Eeyore-esque approach to his columns; I assumed he could pass along simple information like a normal reporter does but that might not be the case.

If Butcher is good enough he won't be the one to lose a spot on the roster. He has size and a cool last name but I'll want to see something on the field before it's anything more than fan hype. Certainly not going to pass on legit talent just because of message board hype.

I see what you did there...

That makes the decision to release Lochard a bit puzzling to me. I thought he did his job quite adequately last year. Maybe the price tag on LaFrance has gone far beyond what the Bombers anticipated.

Free Agency Frenzy
If we could find a way to convince LaFrance and the other Westerman to join the Blue, there really wouldn't be a lot left to accomplish in FA. Support staff for special teams.

It's Valentine's Day. We were probably quite gentle.

Bombers extend Sukh Chungh through 2018
Goossen has his hand up - "No, not me, you've got the wrong guy!"

Bombers extend Sukh Chungh through 2018
Hey, they got his butt in the photo. Credit where credit is due.

Bombers extend Sukh Chungh through 2018
This is terrible. Now we have to think of something else Walters is doing wrong this season.
-
Free Agency Frenzy
As long as he gets properly credited and praised for his contribution to the internet he will be happy.

CALLED IT!! (did not call it) Odd that this has the potential to be our best signing of the day, but this has the potential to be the best signing of the day regardless of what else happens. Or what he said.

CFL Combine
I made an obviously tounge-in-cheek joke about the people of Regina. While the internet is now apparently a battle to the death, you could just shrug your shoulders and move on.

CFL Combine
And still somehow there are a minimum of 63 starting Canadians in the CFL at any point in time. Yet in those 6 draft classes that I referenced the only non-useless pick we made was Jon Ryan. So sure, "kinda like a draft pick" if you are among the worst drafters in CFL history.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Good news. Did not like the possibility of losing both him and Hurl. These guys do a lot of heavy lifting on special teams and are key depth.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
You could get a very expensive "free" barbecue.

CFL Combine
This thread made me revisit the draft years between 2002 and 2007. Doug Brown always gets thrown out as the reason to do something like this, but when you really go thru it it's one home run vs a million strikeouts. So very terrible. I don't know why I did that to myself.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Well, you could always go to the practises to see what he has. That's what the coaching staff does.

Around The League Off Season Discussion
Did they have anyone on their roster making less than $200k last season? No wonder their cap situation was so ridiculous.

Free Agency Frenzy
He's a Harvard business grad, don't remember about the MBA part. The window to play professional sports is short; going to an office for the next 30 years will always be available to him. I could see him sticking with the CFL for a few more years just because he can.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
The Riders model of carrying Glenn + six 4th string QBs isn't one we need to emulate. They can keep looking under rocks; we'll look on the football field.
-
Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Not on February 14. But if these guys are still unsigned in March and April, they are bound to re-assess how much they are willing to work for. Then the choice becomes do they want to continue a career in football or not.

Free Agency Frenzy
Last year (last few years) we made aggressive offers to dramatically change our starting lineup. This year we will be looking for depth and competition at camp. Most of the offers won't be aggressive, they will be polite. A lot of the depth and competition will come the scouting dept, not free agency. You don't want expensive guys as backups and there aren't that many open #1 spots. Finding Loffler was great. Carrying Harris as his backup was manageable for a single season but not something you want to do often or at multiple positions. The Bombers won't "win" free agency this year and our signings will be kind of boring.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Not a dumb question. There is no practical reason for anyone to know that.
