  1. But for how long if they don't make the playoffs? That team is still in the honeymoon phase. It will always be sold out. There is an 8000 person waiting list for season tickets. The MTS Centre is sold out into eternity. Did they not require people to commit for 5 years when the Jets came back? Once that 5 years is up and if the team still hasn't taken strides come talk to me.96% of the first wave of commitments that came due signed up for another term. Half of those people re-upped for six more years instead of the mandatory three.I think the team will be fine. easy to say that now, let's see how it looks if they stagnate as a team that doesn't make the playoffs. Look I get it, Winnipeg is excited about having the Jets back, but if the team doesn't make strides the Winnipegger in the fans will take over and they'll stop the blind support. Oh sure they might be fine for the next six years. Maybe even ten. Hell they will be done for 15 years. But mark my words. At some point in the next 100 years they will have trouble selling tickets. Remember you heard it here first. So you deny that there is a honey moon period? Get real here. If the Jets don't start making the playoffs the fans will stop spending money. All depends on how the team performs. The first years were always going to be an easy sell. Lots of excitement about the team being back. The honey moon ended last season, did you go to any games? It was obvious the honeymoon is over, the team was being boo'd off the ice at several games i went too. They have been here for what will now be their 4th season, Honeymoon ended last year and it could be debated that it ended the lockout year. That first year? you will never see something like that ever again so no use in using that as a comparison.

For the first time in my morning big blue history, i agree with you Brandon. I don't hate Max Hall at all, Hate is such a strong word and i don't think I'd use it to describe anybody that goes out there and puts on the Blue Bombers jersey. These guys bust their asses for our entertainment and for that, they all get my respect. Injuries and all these issues these guys have later in life, I can't hate any one of them. I agree that he has no upside at all, he does have a noodle arm and his decision making at times is suspect, For a guy who is supposed to be a smart qb, Why does he keep making the bad throws at the worst possible time. The way i see it, Max Hall had last season and this pre-season to show he could get the job done and facts be damned, he just didn't get the job done. He was `1-8 as a starter and looked pretty mediocre in the pre-season. I wish Max Hall the best of luck if he is indeed released, he might not be, maybe Brohm is, Maybe Marve is. My assumption that Max Hall is released is based simply on what i saw from him last season and what i saw from him this pre-season, I'm not the guy making the cuts though, who knows but from an outsiders/fans perspective. Max Hall kind of looked like the rookie out there this pre-season, If you are going to keep Brohm, there is no point in keeping hall and vice versa, They are similar players really but Brohm seems to have a better arm and when you are making cuts, it's the little things that go a long way to determining your fate. Did Max Hall looked worse than Brohm? Did he look worse than Marve, it doesn't matter if he did or didn't, the fact is, he was our starting qb for 9 games last season and didn't actually stand out as being that much better than either of the guys we brought in. Hall should have been pushing Willy for the starters job, he didn't he was being pushed for his job, so much so that he might actually end up losing it. Why do i get the feeling though when i wake up tomorrow (thank god for days off) but why do i get the feeling that i may regret what i'm saying right now and might have to retract everything i've said about hall and eat a little bit of crow and tell iso and 17to85 that they were right and i was wrong, if that is the case and hall isn't released, so be it.

Marve was so impressive they gave him **** all for playing time in the pre-season. Look I get it, he was good that one drive in the home pre-season game, but he was very obviously behind the other guys on the depth chart and that didn't appear to change at all. He was most likely looking at a PR spot to start the year anyway so if they're bringing in a new qb the most logical place to look at who he is going to replace is the guy sitting #4 on the depth chart. Obviously he was behind the other guys, he's a fresh faced fn rookie for gods sake, why are you making so many excuses for max hall? why are you in love with mediocre to garbage players like max hall and jamie stoddard? Seriously, I like your pic tho, it explains you quite well, sheldon, always right even when he's wrong. Marve was so impressive they gave him **** all for playing time in the pre-season. Jamie Stoddard is a saint, no need to bring him into this fight! LOL. i was quite young at the time and i'll admit, i didn't mind stoddard one bit. I do admit that was kind of uncalled for. I apologize.

Doesn't mean much but 1290 radio saying hall will be cut. Could be opinion though.

I understand why our fans want these guys, I really do, but to continually drag these names into the conversation, when there is very, very little chance of an interest in coming to Winnipeg, is useless. But of course the same names keep being brought up, whether they make sense or not. It's not even about signing them (i think we all understand these guys wouldn't come here) but it's about having interest in them, I mean, why not make an offer even? I get it, they won't come but to not even make an offer? to not show any interest at all? why not? You mean like asking that hot girl out because you have tons of interest, but really you know you are the snowball of that famous idiom. Why wouldn't you ask the hot girl out? Hot girls are just normal girls really, just a lot prettier then some. How do you know what the hot girl would say if you don't even talk to her once? Sure she might say NO but she might be intrigued and give you a chance. You don't know if you don't ask her. If you go in thinking I got no chance here but it's worth a try, man you lost already.

Why do people think Marve wont accept a PR spot? Marve looked better than Max Hall and Brian Brohm. This isn't about Marve vs Hall vs Brohm, this is about Hall and Hall only. He was the worst qb by far. He DONE. Almost seems like some are just refusing to accept how piss poorly Max Hall played, If this was based purely on pre-season and training camp, Hall was turrrible and should be sent packing. HE ABSOLUTELY SUCKED. I'd be absolutely shocked and somewhat disheartened if Max Hall made the team after the way he played in camp and in the games. Guy isn't some fresh faced rookie to the CFL, he was here last year, he sucked then and he sucks now.

I'd lean towards the end of Hall.
  9. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that Pre-season isn't over yet? I don't know though. I'm pretty positive there will be a pretty good crowd there in a week though. Anyone mentioning traffic issues? seriously? what do you do to get to work in the morning or go home? rush hour traffic is 10 x worse than IGF traffic.

I don't think it really matters what arm he uses to throw the ball, from the video there, he has a pretty decent arm, always leading receivers instead of making them stop and catch it, has some pretty quick mobility and when he is scrambling always seems to keep his eyes down field looking for the pass. He looks good in that video for sure.
  11. This works. Carolina has named Bill Peters (ex of the red wings) as their new head coach.

I tend to agree but I'm going to ask anyways, What the hell type of scheme are we running when we have no interest in Laurent or Hickman? Don't you normally want the best players who are available and you make it work? If we aren't signing guys based on schemes we are setting ourself up for failure. Ratio breaking tackle in Laurent, pass cuz he doesn't fit the scheme? Hickman, i'm not sure what you'd get with him, he's been gone a while but to pass on him just because of scheme? Seems ridiculous. How many guys are we going to not be interested in due to scheme? Much as we would have liked to have Laurent here and will undoubtedly never hear the end of it from some guys, Laurent was a free agent and not terribly likely to come here regardless of scheme. In my opinion, Winnipeg would have been last on his list of teams to play for. As for the DL, they will be expected to attack from multiple angles, overload sides, drop into coverage on occasion and disguise blitzes. As I understand our defense that is. To do any of this they will have to be fast and dynamic. I don't know how well Peach is suited to this. Vega and Turner would seem ideal. Thomas is Canadian, but if he can also be relatively fast with this feet, that's a big step. If we were living in 2011 and looking for someone to replace Doug Brown in a 4-3 Greg Marshall defence, Laurent would be the best choice I could think of. Sticking him in this defence would likely be a disaster. He would not be able to do anything required of him. Oh no, i agree with you, I knew Laurent wouldn't come here, I'm just saying, what type of scheme are we running when we don't have interest in ratio breakers and former game breaking defensive ends? It seems ridiculous to me that we are passing on guys (regardless if they would sign here or not) based on scheme. I understand they probably wouldn't come here but... to have no interest in them because of our scheme? It doesn't really make sense.

NameYear Team No. Yards Avg Long TD KELLY, A 2011 HAM 27 383 14.2 34 2 KELLY, A 2012 HAM 11 107 9.7 30 1 KELLY, A 2013 WPG 22 321 14.6 45 0 Career Total 60 811 13.5 45 3 those numbers don't seem to indicate to me that he makes a lot of catches or scores a lot of TDs.. Really is a receiver who has a career best year of under 400 yards and 2 TDs the best we can do? . as a 4th or 5th option? why not?
  17. what's the over/under on rob black doing most of the redblacks games this season?

Edmonton has non import depth at receiver, not much elsewhere though. we have non import depth at receiver too, heck we could start 3 Canadians at receiver if we really wanted too and have Carter or Renaud dress as a backup. Pretty even really there, we have better non import db depth and i'd argue with the esks losing laurent that is equivalent to us losing Henoc so all in all, without the blue bashing goggles on, i'd actually say our non import depth might be a bit better than Edmonton and Ottawa for that matter. http://www.esks.com/roster/index/team/3/sort/last I don't see how that non import talent is better than ours. I just don't see it.
  19. seems winnipeg fans tend to undervalue the players we have and over value the players we don't have. Kane is a 22 23 year old who scored 30 goals a couple years ago, prorated the lockout year would have had 30 or so and last year was injured and if not still would have had 30 more than likely. 30 goal scorers dont grow on trees. You don't give those guys up for anything less than an overpayment, if a team wants kane that bad, then they will have to offer what the jets want. If they don't, Kane stays a Jet. We don't need to trade him. He's under contract for 5 years at a very good cap hit.
  20. Still have a week to go, i'll agree with the poster who said let's revisit this topic Wednesday next week.

LOL. he ain't coming here, if anywhere he's going back to hamilton.
  22. I think BC has made an upgrade at QB. For sure, but Glenn is a backup QB. what if he never sees the field? sure he's an upgrade although in my opinion, i thought demarco was pretty darn good last season when lulay got hurt, but.. not exactly an upgrade that makes a difference, he might make a difference if lulay is hurt but he might not see the field at all.
  23. You have obviously never had a concussion then. If you have, you wouldn't be making light of his situation. Concusions are serious business, they are a significant brain injury, It's not a good thing to have happen to you, for your sake, from a guy who has had 2 from playing hockey and 1 from falling off my 4 wheeler 3 years ago, I hope you never get one. I don't think you actually understand how bad they are. To this day, the smallest of headache, it bothers me badly. Light effects me pretty badly sometimes, i will wear sunglasses at times even inside because even flourescent lights bother me at times. It's not funny and I don't think you should say what you did in your last line cuz it's obvious you don't really understand what concussions actually do to you. Get one and you get the 2nd one a lot easier, get 2 and the 3rd one happens easier and so on. It's not fun. It does mess with you. Have you ever had one? I know the answer, it's no because if you did have one, your last line wouldn't be there because you would actually understand how serious they are.

Klingberg is a free agent is he not? I don't ever see him sticking with the main roster, I'd suspect if he is indeed a free agent, they let him walk.
  25. O'shea spoke highly of stephan on the coaches show,, wouldn't be so quick to write him off even though i would sort of agree with you in thinking he should be on the bubble. Looking at the linebacking depth in terms of Non Imports Cornell, Stephan,Briggs,Aisho. 2 are rookies, of those 2 rookies, 1 is hurt.. Not much depth there. Stephan probably sticks around.
