  1. Isn't Solly being paid around $225k? It seems well out of line for an import, but I think Bighill will be looking for his biggest CFL payday ever and may be aiming to earn in the same ballpark.
  2. I thought Gray played Tackle? Either way he's not stepping in and replacing Neufeld this season.
  3. I'm pretty sure that strut was aimed at Willy Jefferson and was intentionally mocking his strut from the B.B. debacle. As I understand it they are actually friends from their time together in Edm., so none of this should be taken very seriously. It was good to see Nichols shed his bout of mid-season gloom.
  4. Highly recommend Snowfall if anyone likes watching TV series about the drug trade like Narcos or The Wire. It's a drama based on the crack epidemic that occurred in L.A. in the early 80's and even has a tie in to the C.I.A. Iran-Contra affair during the Reagan years.
  5. How about a free kick in the nutsack from Justin Medlock?
  6. You're left with a big pile of horseshit laying all over the field???
  7. Both newly acquired Blake and Lavoie will be playing for the Riders this weekend according to Jones.
  8. Nothing screams "yokel" quite as much as a dork waltzing along a tropical beach wearing an ugly green Riders jersey and flip-flops. I've seen them but hang my head in shame, it's absolutely embarrassing to consider they're our neighbours.
  9. A very good example of this was in O.T. vs. Ottawa. Nichols made use of Harris to run the ball and threw high percentage passes to march the ball down the field, never putting the ball in jeopardy. On the other hand Trevor Harris relied heavily on his ability to throw to small windows and his receivers to come up with great catches. On many of these receptions the D.B. was right in the receivers hip pocket and had a chance to make a play on the ball. I think it's obvious which is the smarter approach.
  10. Funny thing is Collaros will probably ask for more next season and Jones will have to pay him after looking around the league and concluding there really isn't any other viable starting QB's to be had. I seriously doubt any of the current starters make it to F.A. when it comes right down to the crunch, no teams want to be caught short at QB.
  11. I'm still waiting for them to send Thompkins deep, he made some nice plays on the ball in pre-season.
  12. A lot easier to do if you're working 9-5 with weekends off but that's not always the case, some careers demand more and you have to cut out all extraneous activities in order to succeed. Kind of like becoming a football player. 😀
  13. Washington has done this before, can't seem to stay off twitter.
  14. Sending out only 3 receivers doesn't help when none of them can get open. Their O scheme is based on outstanding receivers making outstanding catches, shut that down or pressure Reilly and they're almost as toothless as Sask.
  15. Both Solly and Lulay expected back shortly. The BC Lions could have linebacker Solomon Elimimian and quarterback Travis Lulay back from injury this week, in time for their next game against the division-leading Calgary Stampeders. According to TSN's Farhan Lalji, Elimimian will get final imaging and hopefull clearance to play on Tuesday, while Lulay is also optimistic about being able to play next week.
  16. That's pretty much what Demski already is, Durie rarely ran the ball, returned kickoffs sometimes, and was also injury prone.
  17. Free-lancing only goes so far, Manziel is either too stupid to learn the playbook or he's relied on winging it for so long he doesn't know how else to attack a D.
  18. Manziel looks decent but he has to progress beyond running broken plays every second snap, no O is going to sustain drives if they are constantly ad-libbing, luck only goes so far.
  19. Hopefully the CFLPA sees the AAF as a legitimate threat to their well-being and works with the CFL to formalize a sound strategy, rather than against it.
  20. If this new league can prove to be sustainable over 2-3 years the CFL will take a big hit with their Imports but it won't pave the road to a NFL career anymore than the CFL currently does. For mid-level talent players like Wolitarsky and others choosing to play in this new league will come down to $$ and preferred location, for un-drafted graduates of US College football or recent NFL cuts it will probably supplant the CFL as the most obvious destination to pursue their careers. One thing the CFL can do to combat the outflow is ensure all of their player facilities and benefits are top of the line and each team's football program is run at a high professional standard across the league. Making the CFL a "nice place" to play football will go a long way to retaining vets. who have already given the NFL a go and are happy to play professional football in a good environment.
  21. This is his 4th year with the club, so I'm not sure when his current contract expires, just an example. A large portion of the roster is headed for F.A. including some long-term vets.
  22. Bob was referring to this coming off-season when half the team becomes F.A.'s, they could potentially lose JSK, Alexander, Jeffcoat, Goosen, etc. so Walters has a huge amount of undesignated money to spend, but he said his number one priority would be to re-sign Bighill.
  23. Perhaps this has something to do with it, Walters said on the CJOB pre-game show that they over-extended themselves to sign Bighill and were prepared to do whatever was needed to make it work.
  24. No, he's still on the 6 game I.R.
