It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...
Riders are only 8500 days short to catch up to your last grey cup win. Well let's going even more big picture. What's 10-4?

Week 6 other games, other teams
I've said from day one I would take Tate if available. He's probably the best second string QB in the league right now. Ask Sask and us about that importance.

So much for the theory...
I'd settle for not giving up first downs simply because we're playing a VERY soft zone .. This line has always intrigued me. What would be a hard zone outside of playing man to man?

The Day Early Game Day Thread - BC @ WPG
But after way too many steamboats. That play had way too much time to materialize, which put the DB/safety in a bind. BC a few times ran a three man attack on us and they get a sack. Lulay's a mobile QB who moves around a lot. Lulay, for the most part, had time to go threw his reads last night, at least that's what I saw. I yelled at the TV a lot because of that. All I'm saying is out of all the areas needed to improve our defense, as this is a passing league, that would be my number one, because everything else dominoes from there. I think the commentators mentioned last night we're eighth in passes completed against. You must count fast. They know that BC is going downfield with the ball, so priority one is to hold the rush lanes so Lulay can't slip out and run for 20 yards because the LB's and DB's will be clearing out in coverage, then get pressure upfield. Gibson was in the backfield all night and the refs probably could have called BC's tackles for a dozen holds on him. I believe they called about 5 on Gibson, many were declined. Thomas was a monster against the run, but crashing into the pocket too. Nobody can block Collins and it's clear that he's picking up how to play the yard of the ball and the wider gaps. Johnson played all over the field, end, 3 technique and linebacker. If our DL plays like that every game the defense won't be giving up many points and will probably be scoring some, or at least turning the ball over so our offence can score easily. Oh oh JBR has spoken, I'm done. :-) Good analysis, makes sense. Still not sold on the fact that our DL regularly hurried Lulay into making bad decisions, Lulay just seemed to be off for other reasons. If I had the time, I'd rewatch the game looking for what you've pointed out. I don't have the time, but will do it for next game :-).

Yes, however what gives me hope is last night's game showed we do indeed have the ability to defend that pressure with hitches, screens, quick hits, counters etc

Actually I saw different. I thought BC most times picked up our blitzes well and handled our front four fairly regularly. Imo BC's issue a lot of times was their audible calling thanks to the crowd noise. Not to mention the fact Arsenault was no where to be seen, except at the end of the game where he demonstrated his frustration. I thought two of the picks and overall good defensive play were more of the athleticism and intelligence of our DB's/HB's and linebackers.

I agree. Willy managed the game very well. Defense made the adjustments needed. Crowd noise was amazing, well done. Only major sore point for me still is our front four, a few good plays but overall, no push. On average, Lulay had way too many steamboats.

yeah I hate having a proven top receiver in the lineup, better to have rookies catching passes I stated the obvious at the start of the year, Nick Moore needs to stay healthy. Five games in, he's out. I'm probably unreasonably irritated this man can't stay healthy.

2015 NHL Free Agency
Per year Yes I know and I'm fascinated he got that.

Drew Willy to start tomorrow
You're probably right and that's where MB needs to be creative with screens, hitch passes, quick hits, counters etc to circumvent that pressure.

Pocket passing QB is so yesterday
Sometimes it's hard to tell when someone is actually trolling or if they're just naturally stupid. My experience is it's usually both.

Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions
And/or the coaches think Brohm gives us the best chance in managing the game so other players (receivers/rb's) can step up and collectively win the game. Sort of like play not to lose QB. Yech.

2015 NHL Free Agency
Eric Fehr gets 2 mill for three years? Fascinating.

Pocket passing QB is so yesterday
I've been on holidays for three weeks and been off the grid. Has our offensive line played well enough to help our QB's and RB's be successful? If not, why isn't anyone crapping on the OL coach in harmony with our OC coach? If it's a talent issue on the OL, does MB deserve any slack as a result of this?

"There is nothing Marve can show in practice this week"
YES!!! As soon as I hear or read any of our current coaches say "I may of misjudged our current talent", then I know he knows his job is in jeopardy.

Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions
My guess, and it's purely a guess, is that Brohm performs his reps well in practice, interprets the game plan and has good rapport with the coaches. Then game time comes and reality hits. Richie Hall's scouting defense may have to turn it up a notch.

[MERGED] July 2 Game Thread (Depth Charts included)
I'm not reviewing game tape so I may be missing something, but I'm not all that impressed with Peach from what I've seen last year to this year.

Frolik Conundrum
Trade an elite, unique, 'puts bums in seats' type player in his prime for a player who probably isn't in his prime. Does not compute. Where did I say I want to trade him for a player who isn't in his prime? You are probably getting a good 3rd line forward (maybe 2nd), a prospect, and a pick. Either way we need the depth on forward more than a D-man right now. Unfortunately we also need roster players more than we need prospects right now. But you can always package up prospects in a trade. But if Buff's camp is standing pat on wanting a 6 - 7 year deal, than the Jets have a choice to make: A - Sign him to that deal and likely regret it for the last 3 - 4 years as an ageing Buff deteriorates fast. B - Trade him C - Keep him next year and lose him in free agency Given those options, I would be fine with either B or C. I would absolutely hate it if we gave Buff, a 260+ pound man with a history of not being in the best of shape and working out, a deal that would take him to 36+ years of age making 7+ million dollars (probably higher), regardless of how unique he is or how many bums he puts into a guaranteed sold out arena. I never said you personally want him traded. i was reacting to your speculation, hence the bolded part. Also, I keep reading about his fitness. I don't have the exact stats on me, but he seemed to be able to play a higher amount of minutes for us this past season. Ironically he was being criticized for taking too long of shifts. We're both guessing on which route he takes as he gets older. You assume his history will dictate that, fair enough. I assume he's a competitor and will commit to being fit at the level he needs to be a impact player. And he puts bums in seats in other arenas as well. And he will still do that if he plays for another team. It isn't the Jets job to fill others teams arenas. Their job is to utilize their cap and budget to play the best team they can. Yes thank you, remarkibly I'm aware of that. I'm just saying he's good for the health of the league and a marketing tool for the jets.

If I was GM, I would try to sign him to a three to four year deal 24-32 million. Has his agent formally asked for an 7-8 year deal? If so, no I would not sign him for that long.

Protecting the QB's: NFL vs. CFL
Reilly got hurt in the pocket, twice in the same game. LeFevour was on a roll out. Durrant was in the pocket and no one touched him. Crompton was in the pocket too IIRC (Didn't go back and check) That one was a high hit where the DB could have chosen to form tackle versus take his head off. I love tough aggressive type football balanced with respecting other players livelihood.
