Second Round Final Cuts
Completely agree with you and that's what we tell our players on the teams I coach. Absolutely it can't be pinned on one person especially in football. Greatest team sport ever. My role on the team as well is ensuring no player gets thrown under the bus by other players (and coaches!). I'm just breaking it down where tough decisions are being made when it comes to assessing our talent and where we need to be stronger outside the earshot of players. Happy Fathers day if it applies

Second Round Final Cuts
Fair enough, how about Luc Labbe? My point is, and this is how the whole conversation started, is I'd rather invest in a strong Linebacking core and be more flexible with my ratio/talent with another position group. You use Henoc to argue that we tried that and didn't work but you just can't pull one person from the group and say your linebacking core/group is strong.

Second Round Final Cuts
I'm discussing the linebacking core as a whole, not just one piece just like I'm looking at other positions as a group. Who else did we have at Linebackers back in 2013 other than Ian Wild? These allstars: James Green LB 47 Pierre-Luc Labbé MLB

Linebackers are more than run stop.

Second Round Final Cuts
I'm obviously not saying it's unimportant but more than linebacker if you absolutely had to chose? Not on my defense. If you have 12 starters and two of them are average, not linebackers please. And I don't think I'm crazy and I'd rather have a better linebacking core than my half back core. I do agree with 17to85 that it depends on who is profiled more in your defensive scheme. I'd rather profile my linebacking core. That's just my preference. And the thing that no one can get around is Hurl's performance. Great effort, average performance.

Second Round Final Cuts
At a key position it sure can hinder. I'd rather be meh at half back, nose quard, safety than at linebacker.

Around the League - Training Camp Discussion
Glenn starts. I still think we should have paid him more to stay. Imagine where the Riders would be right now if that happened.

Second Round Final Cuts
That's exactly where he should stay. The linebacker position can't be trumped by flexibility in this case. Be flexible somewhere else.

All I have are your words, it would be great to have this discussion in person. Maybe at a Bomber game when they're up by fifty and we have time.

As soon as you wrote FAKE NEWS, you were. If you're talking critical thinking ability, then encourage people to critically think about the issue not FAKE NEWS. Two completely different streams.

US Politics
To me using this statement is irresponsible, not to mention the fact of using a sport example to overly generalize something where once someone says anonymous source, oh fake news. It's the old 'well if it's happening here, it must be happening there' tactic. Sort of like guilty by association, i.e., anyone using the term anonymous sources can't be trusted. Use a better argument to dispel something. And I'm not even arguing whether this story about Pence is true or not.

This is fantastic. Could you also work on the Bombers playing more at Commonwealth Stadium please and thank you. :-)

Too simple. The complexity here is freedom to do what? It will vary among us Human Beings and that's what gets us into a pickle at times. Some people are more equipped than others when it comes to self-regulation.

I would modify this a bit and say some people 'adopt' a certain ideology because they are lazy thinkers with no critical thinking skills, have had a horrible upbringing mixed with certain genetic and environmental dispositions (this is my provocative statement of the day). My description of this type of person happens across the whole continuum of left middle right. Then what happens, (Ted Koppel expressed this when talking with Sean Hannity), these same people are encouraged/targeted to place this adopted ideology over actual fact. Again this way of operating is not reserved for any certain type of ideology. The big however though is the trump administration, it's media outlets and it's 38% (+ or -3) support base have really committed and gone all in on this process.

I did and I agree with you but if the NYT's has to do an article about reading between the lines, you know the spinmeisters will be out in full force.
-
US Politics
Is it really though? To me, your statement is true if there is little wiggle room for alternate interpretations. Having to 'read between the lines' takes away it's explosiveness.

You just know nothing will come of Comey's testimony regardless of it's significance. SNL got it right when they reenacted Lester Holt's interview with Trump a while back. Is that it, did we get him? No, nothing matters anymore. Climax meet anticlimax.

Unfortunately (I mean that, it's exhausting) I've been following this circus for some time now and it really feels it's nowhere near this. Yea, some things happening here, something things happening there, but it really seems he's bunkered down well with his appropriate lieutenants in place. I think a few other posters have made similar previous comments in that the thing that will ultimately have him drift off into the sunset is he'll just run out of steam, run out of energy, get bored and he'll just tap out, reminding people along the way he won. He comes across as a cranky opinionated ill-informed, self-absorbed rich older guy who you would think can't keep up this pace of surreal whatever you call what's been going on since his campaigning, the election and his present governing. Right?

Around The NHL 2016/2017
I don't think so. I think it might highlight their need to be more active throughout the season and nearing the trading deadline to ensure they have the best team possible for post season. Sort of like can't rest on their laurels type thinking. They still finished with 109 points and the most regulation time wins (50) in the league. However this means nothing if they can't make it past the first round.

Orridge to Step Down as Commissioner
How about Matt Dunigan? My level of respect for him has increased ever since he went full disclosure of the impacts concussions have had on him and his family and his genuine love for CFL football evident in his broadcasts. Sort of the yes we need to make this game as safe as possible but never stop balling hard. I love watching games he does the colour.

I think for a lot of people, it's not calling for his head on one particular gaffe or accusing him of something he isn't, it's calling for his head on his constant trending of massive gaffes. Once a mistake twice a trend sort of thing. In the work and personal world, a lot of us are judged that way.
