TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from Goalie in Round 2 : Game 6 - Brad ScheifeleAmazing season. Division title, President’s Trophy. Thrilling win for the ages over the Blues. Frankly played the Stars even if not outplayed them if you look at the series as a whole. Just too much adversity to overcome, not enough puck luck, and just enough missed opportunities to make the difference. Now we’ll hear the injury report that Morrissey likely playing with a busted shoulder and now torn knee ligaments. Scheifele playing with a concussion. Valardi a back or shoulder injury that never healed. Ehlers coming off a broken leg and not 100%. And I’d wager a bunch more we don’t know about (Schoen, Gus, Stanley, maybe Connor). Loss stings now, but what a tremendous year.

Games like last night are why I love sports. Threads like this are why I hate sports fans
Now I am picking on @captaincanuck12 but I will say to your credit you have been here all year, win or lose, and even if you have thrown in the towel the odd time you speak as a fan who wears their heart on their sleeve and will always come back with hope for the next game. Your negativity is borne of frustration in the moment, but you don’t quit on this team in the big picture. You are good to have around and are ultimately a loyal supporter, no doubt. What drives me nuts are those “fans” who were silent all year when this team marched to the President’s Trophy, and then crawled out of the woodwork after game 4 to remind how lousy this team has always been when the chips are down, how Hellebuyck is a fraud, how Cheveldayoff must be fired, etc. and then constantly disappear and are quiet when the team wins and proves them wrong for the 60th time this year, just waiting for their next chance to say “see I told you they suck” at the next moment of adversity. It’s beyond feeling upset and negative in the moment, it’s like they can’t be happy unless they get to feel validated moaning and bitching about how useless the team is. I will never get those who seem to want to be perpetually angry and prefer to tell everyone “I told you so” if the team doesn’t win it all, which given the pure mathematical stats of it is about as safe a bet as you can make (31 out of 32 teams fail every year). The old adage is true - “sports is not there to make you happy, sports is there for you to be miserable in a large group”. I just don’t get the appeal of watching and acting like you hope they lose so that you have the opportunity to complain about how lousy they perpetually are and validate your negativity to the public at large. Why watch at all? Tough way to go through life.
Now, the Jets may crash and burn in 4 straight next series, and it won’t change what’s great season this has been, how hard they have worked, and what entertainment they have brought us all year. Their achievement should be celebrated, not maligned.
Rant over. See you in Round 2.
P.S. It was never in doubt, says this Jets fan. 😉

TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from bb1 in The Jets Magic NumberDepends on the match-up. Despite their flaws, Jets have had some brutal first round pairings the last few years (St. Louis who were on a heater and won the Cup, Edmonton who we swept, Vegas who won the Cup, and our reward for a 110 point season last year was playing the 106 point Avs who were two years removed from winning the Cup). No one seems to factor that in when considering our ouster each year. Hopefully we see Vancouver, Calgary, or even Minnesota in round one this year.

TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from Goalie in Game 79 : @Who Shot J.R.?If you ignore the quotes and merely answer the bolded part, the answer is always “no”, regardless of the article or issue at hand. The Hockey Writers are hackS, IMO. Just write “provocative” hot takes for click bait.

TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from kelownabomberfan in Random Jets NewsIf you go to the “NHL Playoff Chase” thread I have outlined on nauseating detail the tiebreaker rules for ranking teams. Won’t regurgitate it here, but to explain it quickly:
Dallas is 6 points behind Winnipeg with 3 games each left to play. If Winnipeg loses all 3 and Dallas wins all 3, they would end up tied in points, so the tiebreaker would take effect. First tiebreaker is “regulation wins”. Jets currently have 43, Dallas 41, so Dallas could still finish with 44 and pass the Jets. If they ended up tied in regulation wins, the next tiebreaker is “regulation and overtime wins” where the Jets lead 53 to 48 and cannot be caught. So the upshot is that if the Jets gain one more point or Dallas loses any possible points, Jets finish with more points and win the division. But even if Dallas wins out and the Jets lose out, if any of Dallas’ games go to overtime, the Jets will have the tiebreaker edge and get first place.

TrueBlue4ever reacted to Goalie in Game 77 : @Saturday Night ClubbingUtah is actually very good. Fast. Young. These teams play hard against the Jets cuz the Jets are currently the measuring stick. Utah is gonna be real good. I thought they dominated but when the Jets did get chances and they got them, the Jets killer goalie made the saves. Dudes been killing Jets since Arizona. Ehlers out is gonna hurt. Nino ain’t playing up to snuff. Utah isn’t bad. They are rolling right now and have same points as basically Vancouver and Calgary. They aren’t a bottom feeder. They have 20 more points than Nashville. Utah could finish in around 90 points. That’s not a bad team at all. They will miss playoffs cuz well Winnipeg Dallas Colorado Minnesota St. Louis is in their division also. And have 6 teams make it from the central division of death wouldn’t be fair.

TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from rebusrankin in Game 77 : @Saturday Night ClubbingScheifele and Hellebuyck appear to be the only players interested in trying in the first period. Jets go to Sin City and look completely dialled in, then go to Mormon Central and look completely distracted for the second time this year. Go figure.

TrueBlue4ever reacted to itchy in Game 77 : @Saturday Night ClubbingWell Pittsburgh did us a solid this afternoon. Time to capitalize and win this one.

TrueBlue4ever got a reaction from rebusrankin in Game 76 : @Falling From The StratosphereI was somewhat unsettled after the LA game. Coach Arniel seemed to have had a more positive view of the effort than I did, but last night soothed a lot of my concerns and showed again why coaches are coaches and fans are fans. Team was dialled in from the start, that was a playoff-style effort and game plan. Hopefully the injury bug is not rearing its head now after a fairly clean year, but a result like that renews my good vibes about this team finishing first and making a deep run. Exciting times.
