  1. Problem is that the Riders will likely set the market in the next day or two with an eye popping 350k offer to Lewis.
  2. I don't think we land him for 250k. I have a feeling 275k is the bottom end of what we can expect with idiots like O'Day making unproven and over the hill players the among the highest paid in the league, Mind you, our 275k is Edmonton and SSK's 300k because of the certainty of playoff cash.
  3. Yea...but not at 330k. I want to see what Lawler/Schoen in the same receiving corps would look like...BADLY...but that's just too much. However, if Schoen leaves and I'm sure Walter must have a pretty good idea on that, it changes our need dramatically.
  4. Correct. No one can offer him guaranteed cash.
  5. Yea. I think that our ability to pay Lawler for the next 3 would have been much easier had we been able to up front a ton of his cash before January.
  6. His entire roster at every position group is in shambles. There is absolutely no way he can make this work in one offseason. No team could. There isn't enough cap space. Therefore, the prudent thing to do would be to commit to the rebuild because that is what this is. Instead he is throwing a quarter of his cap at 3 players, one of whom is to old to be around when this rebuild is complete and happens to be the QB, hoping it will turn things around. Makes no sense and was pretty much what he did last year too. Just running it back.
  7. Well, there is some pretty obvious mutual interest. Lawler will have to bring his numbers down but in the end I don't think anyone offers him anywhere close to what he is asking. Same with Lewis. 300k per is going to be the very top end of what receivers can expect.
  8. No one is paying Lawler a million over 3 years but I don't blame him for asking.
  9. Hard to say if a contract was actually ready to go, or just a commitment from both sides to sit down and hash it out.
  10. Here is my take on O'Day's offseason so far: 25 pending FA's going into FA spells rebuild, so what does he do? He puts out a massive offer sheet to a 37 year old QB that MIGHT have a good year left in him but probably not two. Has done nothing with his incredibly inept OL so far, but tried and failed to get Desjarlais. Is reportedly wooing Eugene Lewis, which would be a great add, but he currently has no other receivers at all worth anything really. So, to date he has half a DL, no LBers, a secondary that got lit up like a Christmas tree last year, a historically inept OL that he has not addressed whatsoever, No playmaking receivers....hell no real receivers at all, and potentially an ancient QB that has been riddled with inconsistency the past 2-3 years, a coaching staff that still hasn't been completed, a lame duck HC, and 25 spots on his roster that will be impossible to fill all through recruitment meaning he will have to overpay in FA. This is a GM that is drowning right now and just flailing his arms and legs about as the riptide takes him out to sea. Yep...he's killing it alright.
  11. I agree. However, he's going to ask for the moon for sure. That's negotiating 101.
  12. Good thing you weren't there in the 60's before they got flush toilets.
  13. Metrics....lol...you are talking about a province that loses count at a dozen. There are no metrics. There is a lippy Argos fan over there too suggesting that Walters is vastly over rated and that Stove was average at best. My goodness, that forum attracts fantasy takes on things like no other. That same poster has been saying our wheels are about to fall off since we beat them in the 2018 playoffs....lol. I would be a bit worried now if he didn't say it every year.
  14. LOL...atta boy Lapo! That ought to sober them up about why their new OC is who it is cause if a nice guy like Lapo is tweeting about it, I can just imagine what other coaches are saying behind closed doors.
  15. In fairness, even the other RIderfan posters tell him he is out to lunch on the regular.
  16. But...but...Lapo desperately wanted to go there in 2019 but the big bad Bombers wouldn't give them permission to talk to him. LMAO. Guess we know why now...Lapo told Walters that whatever you do don't say yes to their request. lmao
  17. Chad Kelley is about to become a locker room cancer if he starts or doesn't. Book it. I would trade him while he has value if I were Pinball. The man just has too much ego. Also, I would probably take a hard pass on MBT and try get Dane Evans if I were the Argos. A lot younger and you don't have to keep 14000 seats empty for MBT's ancestors. jk
  18. I honestly hope that MBT is going back to TO. Personally, if I'm Pinball I am trying to get Dane Evans and extort the Riders on Chad Kelly. Yea....but we don't have any at the moment. I guess we could try bring Sayles back or roll the dice on recruitment.
  19. Yea....a guy who hasn't learned how to take care of his body, his words not mine, after 6 years in the NFL is not going to learn anything now. This isn't some rookie shock going from NCAA to pro. He has had 6 years to learn habits and emulate work ethic from the very best there is, if he hasn't learned that by now he is never going to do so.
  20. Yea....not a particularly apt comparison. Comparing our Collaros contract to the Lanier's situation is a massive over reach. Also, we didn't give Collaros top QB in the land money either on his first contract with us. I would think we will dip in a little. There are a few holes, albeit minor ones, to fill. We currently don't have a NT under contract and receiver seems thin if we stay the status quo until FA.
  21. I just question giving out that contract to ANY player with a half season of work.....especially when he spent the last half of that season on IR over conditioning problems or a concussion depending on who you believe.
  22. The NFL has full contact practice. Ask any guy who knows football who the guys are that get their bodies blown up in practice and you will understand that it is the PR guys. They are in as good a shape, and hit as much as the regular roster guys even without playing in the game and that is a 16 game schedule. If conditioning is a problem for him after 6 years in the NFL then that sets off alarm bells to me.
  23. Maybe he works for super cheap?
  24. The league did not fold them last time, and won't do it this time either.
